Thread: So WS's are finally getting ******...
Even carefully nutured and used 1 v. 1 that gun might only last me a couple of weeks. One dodgy repair job. I'd still be using a series of crafted weapons at the same time(one laser is not the total carbineer solution). I fail to see how a random loot drop is going to significantly impact the weaponsmith profession when the schematic for geonisan pistols is selling for several million and the pistols themselves are a license to mint credits.
People are only going to be using those weapons on Rare occassions, and if 1 out of 20 people get a rifle like that, we have nothing to worry about.
Before a Valcyn issue on the boards happened I was selling 20-40 weapons a day, after the thing happened and my business went up more than double, and it's holding a consistant average.
So If I sell an average of 300 weapons a week, 50 of them being Carbine Weapons. 1 out of 20 isn't going to be a thron to my side in business, and I think every weaponsmith will be the same.
It's not like these uber weapons are dropping in the masses, they are still extremly Rare, and most of them have very low condition so wont last long if used a lot.

I'm picking up weaponsmiths because I go through weapons so fast, and would like to try making my own - well for me and my friends.

For a start, the geo pistol schem drops approx 100X less frequently than looted standard ones, and probably 10X less than uber looted ones. There's the problem with the several million for the schem also: we can at most manage to make 30 pistols from the schem (if we can manage to evenbuy it). If we decide to make krayted versions that number drops to 5.
I'm not worried about one d4mn carbine dropping. What I AM worried about is the precedent this is all setting. Slowly but surely stuff that is far better than it is even possible to craft is becoming more prevalent in the game. Sure the gun will wear out eventually (BTW you'd be a fool to use this for anything other than PvP so it wouldn't wear out that fast) but how many more similar weapons will drop in that period? Like I've said we're 2-3 days into the corvette being live. Who knows what else is dropping or how frequent it will be? So far the limited use schems (also requiring loot) seem to be producing guns that are more of a talking point or a wall-hanging than they are a weapon that's a must-have. During all this our own crafted stuff remains broken, or the certs for them do not exist. I won't go into all the other WS issues like storage, resource gating etc we face but suffice to saythat it hasn't been looked at, and we are slowly being usurped by the loot generator.
I have no problem with exceptional and legendary loot drop weapons. At least they ARE rare. What I do have a problem with is crafted loot dropping that can NEVER be bettered or even close to it by us lowly WS's.
BTW good luck with WS. IMO you're choosing it for the wrong reasons though. Far better to just grind money and go buy the weapons from an established smith rather than spend the time you will will need to, gathering resources to make the best.
I wonder if they reintroduced the NPC uber weapon drop bug that was fixed a really long time ago.
Next time you go to the corvette, use /open on the NPCs and see if any of them have weapons like that. If yes, that stuff's not supposed to be dropping.
It may very well be the NPC-weapon-drop bug. A few weeks ago someone on Corbantisgot a E11 Carbine with similarly unusualstats (something like 250 min, 300 max, 2.0 speed).
Slim Vargo, Corbantis
Wow, you need to post on the thread where people are whining about loot schematics being dropped ![]()
devs cant please them all, in fact cant please anyone ![]()

LOL, no one is whining Maxx. Just bringing up a point that if this trend of limited and VERY limited schematics continues, it may be trouble in the future. Things are fine right now as they are but you might try to look past the present...

nope that is fixed. you can still see the weapon on them but when you try to take it nothing happens. and when the ncp dies the weapon disapears cuz that container is 0/0.
Let's look at the average combat professional. The average professional has 5-6 weapons on him. There is no way that random great loot drops will cover this person. In addition, these drops become very valuable, then either used (and disappear from wear and tear), or hoarded (which is the same as not existing).
Finally, the system sometimes drops weapons that it's not supposed to. This might be one of those occasions.
Don't worry. Sales won't drop because of this. If anything, they will need another weapon to avoid using their uber weapon needlessly.

No offense, but I don't remember an outcry when the Nightsister lances began dropping. They've been dropping for months. Tusken obersvers drop the very rare AP1 black gaffi. I heard no outcry there. Now with carbines, we have a problem? I guess melee weapons are different.

None taken. I never had a problem with NS energy lances dropping because we can make those better (once we manage to find the motors and the scroll) than the ones that drop. Once again only legendary or exceptional versions will be better than our crafted ones. The black gaffi I've never heard of (I'm not much of a tusken hunter) but once again if it is a rare drop then I don't think we can have too many problems with it.
What few people seem to be getting in this thread is that I am not concerned over one gun dropping. I am concered about the precedent this is setting, and the general direction of crafting taken over the last few months. Since the introduction of the Geo caves we've seen loot play so much more of a main role in our business. I understand that SOE wishes to foster a community of cooperation in that we rely on the combat profs to provide us with the loot we need in ored to provide others with the weapon they want. Stuff like krayt tissue and nym's motors has always had a part in our crafting but they were never essential to making a weapon. Since the geo cave however, we have5 limited use schematics that require loot drops, in some cases several per weapon. Instead of giving us quest based missions to allow us, as crafters to earn the right to craft these new weapons, our ability to craft them is dictated by how much we are willing to pay for the loot or how big a guild we are supported by. While this system has it's faults at least we are still involved in the crafting process.
However with the amount of FINISHED WEAPONS now dropping in these dungeons, SOE is taking our ability to craft the best weapons away from us. If a weapon is going to drop, it should at least have stats that we can get close to (legendary and exceptional apart). I understand that (for now) these are relatively rare drops, but we are still in our first week of the corvette on live, with promises of a lot more such dungeons to come. I can only foresee a huge increase in the drop rate of uber-loot like this carbine and the other weapons dropping on other servers. Can you not see that 60% of our craftable weapons are not even worth making, let alone selling? Why are things like the tenloss and the sonic blaster not premanently added to our datapads? Surely we have earned the right to make these without having to go to the trouble of either camping for them ourselves or passing over large sums of credits in return for the right to craft them.
I was told by someone on my server board that I was overreacting. Maybe I am. But right now I see us as being at the top of a slippery slope and if we don't try and take a stand on this it's going to get a lot worse. See how many of us will still be around in 3 months to craft the standard items (or even theloot ones)if this trend continues as it seems to be going to...
