Thread: OK, the grind is over...I made master WS, now...
I'm actually going to figure out how to make good weapons lol.
The thing I'm struggling most to understand is resource quality...what makes a resource good? Obviously the OQ, but what else? I want to try and get the best stuff possible..
Do factories take up lots?
Should I get a power generator or just buy power?
WS seems kinda fun, I'm going to stop the holo grind for awhile and play as a ws heh
thanks guys
Ranged can vary from OQ to SR. Basically, get ready to carry ALOT of resources
Factories take up 1 lot. Unless your already rich, youll need to place harvesters.
The trouble with finding resources that people have posted on other sites like stratics and such, is that they only stay in that area for a certain time scale, and then they change size or vanish totally.
Your much better off finding your own resources and labelling the waypoints really clearly into your datapad.
eg, Copper(Inouim)(70%). Then you know what and where everything is.
yeah, the thing is its a lot harder to find "good" resources than just plentiful resources..right now i'm travelling to all the planets and surveying like crazy.
now that i mention it, i should probably get to survey IV , too..
I'm sorry but you're up to Master Weaponsmith and you don't have a clue about resources and schematics? What is wrong with this picture? I'm at 0,3,0,4 and I understand exactly how it works. But then, I've actually tried to make quality weapons with the skills I have instead of macro grinding my way through all the trees. Don't get me wrong, I make a ton of projectile rifle barrels but I've also stopped at each step along the way to practive my smithing skills. I've also had harvesters planted from my first day as a smith collecting resources. ![]()
Apologies for the rant but sheeesh!! Well, at least you'll have time to learn your profession while you collect all the resources needed to properly make them. It should take you, oh about 1-2 months to do that.

You'll find that grinding to Master Weaponsmith is the easy part (tedious, but easy.) Many of us have been collecting materials for months to get the ability to craft the best possible weapons. It doesn't happen quickly. If you're serious about being a weaponsmith, expect to spent the next two or three months collecting all the metals, gems, ores, etc.
The easiest materials to find are materials for melee weapons. You can gather top quality stuff pretty quickly.
The right hand side of the schematic will tell you what qualities are used for the particular schematic. Sometimes it's conductivty and overall quality. Other weapons will want heat and shock resist.
All materials are not available at all times. That's what seperates the veterans from the novices. Everyone has to pay their dues.
If you are truely serious about being a crafter, it wouldn't hurt to become a Master Artisan also. People expect weaponsmiths to have quality powerups, and repair kits to go with their new toys. Powerups can also be a source of income while you locate the hundred or so resources you need to be a top 'smith.
Good luck.
if you found a 85% spot on Yavin 4 say I !
EDIT: (with no fighting skills)
Congratulations on making master weaponsmith. wish I was there---grinding just sux though.
But it sounds like you went and read the book and took the test----nice piece of paper. You need practical experience. Good luck on it.
Greets ...
You will have to gather resources over the next few months before you will be able to make weapons that compete with smiths that have been around for a while. (unless you have 20million to spend on buying rare out-of-shift resources)
You can use swgcraft.com to compare the current *in-shift* resources to those of the past. Resources "shift in" for somewhere around 6-9 days ... then "shift out". Sometimes a certain type of resource will only appear once every month or two ... like duralloy steel on eclipse ... it is shifting out after having been absent for almost 2 months.
That duralloy steel that shifted out (Omniweagisof), will itselfwill never come back (or so we all believe). At some point another duralloy will shift in.
There are about 40 resources that you will need in order to make good weapons ... start with components ... like advanced power handlers ... find out what you need for them ... get that stuff ... then figure out what guns they go in, and then get that stuff :-)
Have fun ... your now a master resource manager ... err ... master weaponsmith ... yea ... that's the ticket.
