Interesting question.

I for one would not put a power up on the weapon. It will most likely cause more heart ache then benefit. Too many people just do quick checks and will get miffed when they figure out what you have done.

What I would do is the following, Next to your weapon vendor, place another vendor called Free Power Up. On this vendor put 1 credit tickets on the vendor so that if there is anyone that is willing to see what a top of the line power up can do for their weapon, they can purchase a ticket for their freebie, to be picked up by them when ever you are online.

That is one reason I stay away from power-ups. Plus power-ups will just use up some of the high quality ores I could have used on more weapons....

My view is I'm a smith so I sell my weapons in they're pure unaltered form. That way everyone can see their quality and I stay far away from the chance of someone accusing my of anything underhanded. After I sell the weapons I could care less what they do with it, slice it or power-up,not my problem.

But I'm sure some people do what you want to do. I often hear of people offering a free power-up with the purchase of a weapon, but I don't know exactly how the work out the details of that.

Deceptive- Period.

The ONLY viable way to put a Power-Up on a weapon with the least amount of confusion / unintended deception. Is to make a set of schematics in which the name of the weapon is to make a new schematic in which you name the weapon with the first word being Power-Up.

"Power Up - Scout Blaster - 100 Uses"

Adding it to the End, or a Statement in the description area is useless as there is still room for impulsive buyers to Buy it before reading the last word, or the 90% of the players who don't read the description area and send you tell asking you something that is clearly stated within.

But no matter how you do it, It's still in bad taste imho. Putting a 1c "sample" up there will just result in 1 person buying 50 of them. Whatever you do, good luck, I myself don't even make power-ups as ya gotta leave something to the MA's. *ducks*

I sold tons of cdefs on the bazaar with powerups on them. Sold them for like 1500 and they went pretty fast. Received no complaints. However, I would identify that there is a powerup onthe weaponin the description.

Doh

Havent seen those yet. Been at work all day.

I found some cheap Carbonate Ore on the bazaar that had 995 OQ and found some Lubricant Oil that had 990 OQ. Makes darn good powerups and I dont use those materials for any of my weapons.

Bought the resources for 2.5 CPU and they use 10 total reasources. So my cost for producing a crate of 10 is only 250 credits and I sell them for 2500 credits per crate. Pretty good profit margin.

What Im waiting for is that darn Diatium Copper. It hasnt spawned since I started my weaponsmithing character and it's really hurting me. Luckily I found a fellow master waiting at a starport that was needing some Rhodium Steel that I had a little of and we made a good trade to help me get going.

Deceptive.

Even if you tell them that power ups are on them in the vendor's name, some will miss it.

I wouldn't do this, it's not worth it.

I wouldn't call it deceptive, that implies you are trying to intentionally trick your customers. However, I would say it's a bad idea because it will lead to a lot of misunderstandings and irate customers. It's better to not even deal with that mess at all. If you want to sell power-ups, offer them by the crate on a separate vendor.

Personally, I don't have any problem with the practice - compared to selling sliced weapons, it's quite harmless, because the item description tells you that there's a powerup and exactly what it does.

No one cares about the bazaar or CDEFs because the only people who buy there are raw newbies who probably don't know what a powerup is.

Putting powerups on weapons you sell is a bad idea. No matter how clearly they're labeled, some idiot will somehow miss the fact that they have powerups and go off on the server boards about you being a scammer. Also, if people don't want your particular powerup (many riflemen use mind/speed powerups instead of damage) then they have to expend yours before they can get the gun the way they want it.

Howdy;

I may have had a weapon here or there with a powerup for sale - but never intentionally. If you bought it out of my hand - then yeah, probably a PuP, heh. I got one that way, way back when, and was disappointed in the fact that it popped back to normal in 100 shots. NO PuPs on sold weapons is probably the best soultion to No confusion.

BTW - the radial allows for removal - so it is not really necessary to Use it up to get shed of it.

This used to have a major bug that would permanently lower your weapon's stats, I don't know if they ever fixed it.
