I have a customer that bought an Acklay Gaff from me, it wasn't sliced and he went out to the smuggler knowing full well that he might get a speed slice.
Anyways, long story short... he's asking me 2 exchange it for another acklay gaff so he can try again for a damage slice... What do I do? This is the first customer that has come back wanting an exchange, and well... I'm still a little green around the ear's as far as some of this stuff goes.
Do I give him another and now try to resell a speed sliced acklay gaff or what? Please reply, your help in this matter would be appreciated.

what are the stats on the speed sliced gaffi stick? I used a speed sliced gaffi to grind most of fencer, it's much more useful than a damage slice at lower levels. Also, how much did you sell it to him for?

No exchanges. What happens if he gets another speed slice, or a poor damage slice? Slicing is his risk, not yours.

I was thinking the same thing... then he might come back and want another... Don't know.. is customer relations though more important though, especially in our line of work? That's what I'm having a hard time with the most I suppose.

Hmmm, interesting. I make a point of informing them that the slice is their responsibility. Don't come back to me unless you want a 2nd to slice

All sales are final off of your vendor... and unless he gave you the two acklay bones free of charge or really cheap he has no right to ask you to exchange for the items.
Just tell him that you are sorry that smugglers cant pick his uber slice but you cant just take the weapon back because he didnt get what he wants. Tell him if he really wants to get the damage sliced gaffi then you can sell him the other acklay enhaced acklay and he can try again.
Unless this guys is a friend(if it was you woudnt be asking us) or someone who brings you lots of cheap loot I woudnt allow it.
The only place I would allow anything like this is if a customer contacted me telling me that they had accidentily bought the wrong item and wanted another one and I would buy the item back(as long as it hadnt been used or sliced) so that they could buy another item.

You're not a second chance shop though. You're out there to sell weapons, not to help out people when they screw up THEIR weapons. If they get a good slice, good for them. It's not yours anymore. If they dont, too bad. Their loss. PR is not worth the hassle with people like this.

Slicing was at his risk. Smugglers cant feel responsible for each slice a customer didnt want so neither should a weaponsmith.
Really thats the reason people buy multiple items, to increase the chance for a favorable slice. Like the previous poster said if you exchanged it you have an item you may not be able to sell and he could get another speed slice.

Be sure to handle it with care being nice. Other than that dont let customers take advantage of you. I always have people contacting me wanting me to buy overprived krayt tissue and trying to force it on me since I am a weaponsmith and have lots of credits(I actually dont right now lol).
I have had people also contact me about reselling there uber weapon on my vendors and I just have to tell them no. Unless I am doing a friend a favor its just to much of a hasle to do stuff like that.

225k seems a bit high for a weapon with that damage, but price really is what people are willing to pay for it.
Anyway, a grinding fencer usually won't be able to pay that much for a speed sliced weapon, so if you were to exchange it you'd most likely be doing so at a loss, which is unacceptable.
If you could expect to get the same price for it then an exchange would make sense. You keep a happy customer and lose nothing, but in this case, no.
It's already been said. If somebody decides to get their equipment sliced, they take responsibility for the outcome.
Tough luck if it doesn't come out the way they want it.

Enchanging it would only result at a loss though, a loss of time and money on the crafter's part. Nothing would be gained. The customer is wrong. The crafter did not make a bad weapon, he did not overprice it, the buyer WILLINGLY purchased the weapon, and then decided to attempt to augment it, and in doing so, he took a chance. The smith shouldnt be blamed for the user's misfortune. Tell him where to stick it.

Why would you even consider exchange as an option?
