Thread: The Non-Serial Issue?

I've grown lazy, so I'll just quote my former post's for the most part. Hopefully a few of your remember it and support it.

The Non-Serial Exploit Persists.

For those of you that don't care, and would rather let it continue on - Please don't bother posting here. While not officially an exploit, the process of reproducing this has already been confirmed as one.If you cannot draw the parallels between the two, you are to deluded by your potentialprofits to care about this profession.

Patch 9 is only a few days away. Therein lies my one glimmer of hope.

  • Generic items will no longer be able to be put into slots that require serialized components.

    Bad News:

At best this is 3-4 weeks away. I have a feeling the value of white cubes and base krayt tissues will be rising significantly on everyones servers.

So, like every other exploitable bugthat has made its way to Live servers, the impact of these will still be felt for months to come. So in the end, who really won?

    My Concern.

The one and only place where this specific quote can be found, was an early post made on the Jedi forums, from the Jedi Correspondant. Every set of patch notes released by the developers do not contain the above quote or any mention of the changes. My best guess is that the source of that list, was an internal document circulated between the developers and the corespondants. The link within the quote will take you to ArjunThakur's original post to see for yourself.

Now, my concern is that this may not make it into Patch 9.

    That is unacceptable.

Thunderheart told me that it would be Publish 9, but unfortunately, no date (as above).

While the above quote is reassuring. Please, if this change does not make it into publish 9 -Hold the developers to their word. This is the most important issue with weaponsmithing in my opinion. Whatever force sensitive crafting changes come will mean nothing If a bug this obvious can continue to be exploited with no recourse.

Lastly, this problem is absent from the Compilation of Weaponsmith Issues - Stickied above. Please remedy this.

Edit: Hard to discern the post from the quotes and Grammar.

Complacency has seem to set in on these boards.

But the glimmer of hope still remains. Just wish we could get some form of confirmation other than possibly outdated information from the Jedi Correspondant.

Griz, wheres the other half of the Goon Squad been lately?

They obviously don't care enough to hotfix it (but they hotfix minefields that no one cared about and broke crafting, go figure) so if it's not in 9 they'll just say wait until 10. If it's not already in 9, the chance of them putting it in now is probably zero since the only changes they've done for like the past week is more jedi crap.

Frankly, I don't understand what you expect to hear.

I have repeatedly pressed this issue over the course of the past several months until I finally retrieved an answer -- Publish 9. The Developers have made attempts to hotfix it prior, however, only to make things worse. (We went from just white cubes to everythingpopping up unserialed.) I have given you quotes and explanations from them; simply that they were trying, but could not track the exact source of the problem. I last posted on this issue citing that Thunderheart told me directly that the fix should be going into Publish 9, information that I posted only a week ago. However, you are already noting that information as "outdated" and implying this issue is dying.

This issue is in limbo. There is nothing you nor I can do but wait until Publish 9 before moving forward. If the issue continues, it will be pushed again; however, I don't have any more reassurance from the Developers that I can give you at this time.

I probably should have explained myself better, first post was far to long and I didn't want to cram to much detail into it.

This statement was directed towards the community in general, not you Logix. You've tried which is all I can ask. Now it's up tothe developers to follow through.

The complacency of the community is what has allowed this to be a problem for this long. Check the pages- the past threeweeks have been the same old questions and "this is not a trade forum" squabble that usually occurs here.

Just hoping some more people can step back and take a look at the bigger picture.

Logix - This was primarily the part directed towards you. Right now it is indeed a wait and see issue, I'm waiting and we all shall see.

If the fix does not show up on patch 9, all i'm asking is that you let them know that we noticed it wasn't.

The "Dated Information" comment, I'll explain further below.

To wrap this all up, I'd like to point out the source of my fear that this could possibly be omitted in patch 9. Sorry for the length.

Please notice the One and Only Entry Missing from Thunderhearts list, is the crafting changes.

This lead me to believe that Arjun's list was an internal communication between him and the developers - and that since every set of patch notes released by the developers to date have not included the crafting changes.

Hence, ArjunThakur's original list, the only one to specifically document the changes, is potentially outdated.

    Edit: Tweaks and such.

    My misunderstanding.

Unfortunately, this is an issue that you won't easily rally support for. Every thread on unserialed items ends in flames; simply put, we all hold different values and opinions of game mechanics.

That does not mean I don't hear you, nor does it mean that the Developers don't hear you. For now, unserialed items are so prevalent that it's near impossible to persecute individuals for using them outside of game mechanics. However, it is acknowledged that it's most definitely not an intentional change and they understand the uproar it's hath wrought in not just our community, but other crafter communities, too.

The entire list of compiled issues needs to be, well, re-compiled. Unfortunately, it's terribly disheartening to many of us to see such basic issues still untouched (Beam Rifle, Weapon Stocks)and re-compiling it just seems .. moot. However, it will be done, hopefully within the next week.

    /sigh

It's kind of obvious that a weaponsmith is using the exploit [when you see 20+ scythes with the same serial # for sale on a vendor]. And it's frustrating that these same people aren't being banned from the game for breaking the rules and regulations that SOE is suppose to enforce.

As long as they arnt doing useing the top stuff for there shcematics i dont see this as a big deal. The devs intentinaly changed this to work the way it does now once in the past and only removed it due to abuse. Plus only around 20% of the community reads these forums and the it has only been stated ONCE and only about geo loot that this is unintened so baning would be a huge overreaction in general no matter how much you dislike that smith or it might help your business.

Could be a differant situation if they posted that ANY use of unserialed components, dispite the devs ineptitued in fixing htem and seeming approval of there use by the fact that they are so abundant, had been stated on the loging patch notes window i might agree with your over zelous charges that these people need to all be banned.

You know you drool at the possibility of doing a factory run of 499 Scythes, just admit it....

I seriously thought this was already fixed. In any case, I'm all for fixing this bug. At the same time something needs to be done about the limited-use loot schematic chaos. People wouldn't be so inclined to do this if they got more than a couple uses from the new schematics.

They all require loot componentry anyway (or componentry crafted with loot parts). Except the FFWG5 and the MRPB. But who uses them anyway... well now that school's out there are a lot of new faces in Eisley lately. Should set up a tent...
