but I just dont understand people grinding to Master Weaponsmith as fast as they can. Back in the day I sold all my weapons up to Master and didnt grind once (hehe I used to log on to check what use xp I had got over night, imagine that!) and all this time I was mining and storing the resourses I would need for when I reached Master. When I did reach Master I had a healthy stock of resourses and could make everything available at that time on our server.

Now Im seeing time and time again, people rushing to get Master then complaining they cant make this and I get many a tell from new smiths asking if i would sell my resourses to them.

I dont know why Im posting this actually, last night after a tell from a new smith asking for resourses and complaining he couldnt make a T21 made me think back to my early day. I know no one can start up and sell all their weapons for xp to Master, times have changed, I just wish people coming into the profession would take the time to see that being a Master Weaposnmith isnt all about xp and skill points.

I for one am grinding weaponsmith to Master asap, because otherwise I can't make a profit due to sub quality weapons.

I don't think in the current 'climate' you can make a profit anymore, without being on par with your fellow smiths. The only thing you can't really grind is a good reputation, that is what you need to build up with time and experience.

That is incorrect you can make profit. I did. I did grind 0004, but after that I went weapon for weapon. Stocked, stockpiled, and sold. Mde my niche on Rykk blades (had great Kammaris) and then moved into other stuff. My top seller is my signautre *Fett Edition* EE3 that I have crafted to match Boba's. It took some time but I figured out how to make it exactly like his. No I will not sell my secret MUWHWHWHWHAHAHAHAH!

Maybe because the economy is glutted in game with crafters.

Its too easy to be a great combat and a great crafter. Result alot of extra crafters.

Weapons lack variation. Result smiths can make fifty weapons, but players only want ten of those.

Sliceing has totally devalued actual quality in crafting. Seeing that a bad slice can destroy an item.

Result unless a player is a master nobody wants to use them, and they cannot sell things. Early on in the game the smith combat quotient was better. Soa up and comeing smith could survive. While now a novice weaponsmith cannot do squat.

Iagree with most all of you. My main character was a weaponsmith before... I made a D18, noted how badly it sucked, and dropped it. Since then I've been fighting in the geo caves alot, working on that silly FS grind, and decided that it would be more profitable in the long run if I made a weaponsmith instead of selling crap min stat geo cores for 1k each. I collected resources to grind, and that's what I did. I worked for 3 days and made master, seeing that my non-master weapons were garbage. My VKs were about 30 points max attack lower with the same resources. True, I dont have all the resources I need for making guns, I can still make a profit off my normal melee weapons using the resources I purchased. What other way could I survive? My main is a combat medic, so I understand just how rare some resources spawn. I've been collecting CM resources for about four months now, and I can almost make everything. Seeing as to how there is usually only one good spawn for each resource anyways, so the best I can do is to scour vendors, post on the forums, and look around for that one good spawn. How else can I compete in an industry as competitive as weaponsmithing? There is usually only one famous WS at a time. On kauri, over the time I've been playing, it was Sushi Sal'Mon, but he left or whatever, and now it's Epidimick. How can I become as good as the so called "legendary" Weaponsmiths if I can not become competitive at an early date, bring in money, and buy those insanely expensive exp/assembly tapes? Being a 10 point WS right now is killing me, because people assume that just because I'm a 10 point, all of my work, my resources, my everything are lower quality than the 12 points. This is why I chose to grind out WS as quick as possible. Now I make VKs that can compete with the higher ups, this is my bukitsukurido (joke )

Edit: Typo

In current climate there's one method screaming out to be exploited... Most "how to grind WS" guides tell you to go down the munitions path to heavy warheads for faster xp. Well it seems that the one area of WS where demand outstrips supply is in the grenades market. So why don't grinding WS make basic grenades and sell as they go? The vast majority of C-12 buying FS grinders will happily buy non-master made grenades as it's better than getting none at all.

Everyone's a winner

I for one am with u on taking your time.

I made and still make a profit selling my chepies to the new character in their respecitive spawned city. So anybody that's 0004 can do it if I did.

Took me 3 or 4 months to get master weaponsmith also, but i'm here and have plenty of minerals that i mined and such to make me that much more of a better WS ... within the first week of mastering, make a couple million, so... it does pay off to take your time and do it right.

truth is, i'm not entirely sure how you can make a profit now as a nonmaster. you won't compete well with the masters in terms of stats but the most important thing imo is that you won't be able to compete until you have acquired a respectable resource collection.

buying resources off masters is one way to go,if they are willing to sell to you but the better way is to stockpile through a few spawns of things and then start trading up. even the resources available for sale are not going to be the best that has ever been seen on the server since most people will hoard that for themselves or friends. as a result even with 10 points of experimentation, your stuff will still be subpar.

i made master in maybe 3 weeks but i didn't make anything even remotely competitive for at least 3 months after that while i waited on certain spawns.

if you go near theed or cnet, vendor after vendor will have weapons...only the long term well established weaponsmiths are making the really good money because it is expected that they have the resource collection that time will give them so customers will go out of their way to find those people most often.

there simply is no incentive to stay as a nonmaster because you will not be established or able to make anything up to the standards most people are looking for anyways.

And also, don't forget about the smiths that were around to take advantage of that special one day of crafting. Can't beat those.

There are two ways for non-master WS's to make decent money, and one way to make a little extra dough,

1. Make grenades.....I've been a master WS for about a year now, and I've only made grenades like 2-3 times. I don't like making them, but there is a market for them....especially with the FS grind.....may people are throwing grenades these days.

2. Get very serious in your harvesting.....harvest lots of resources and become a commodities merchant. Keep your best stuff.....or at least most of your best stuff.....then sell the rest. A good resource vendor can rack in more $$$$ that many weapon vendors. This will provide you the cash to buy good resources that you can't find on your own. Don't forget.....if you have non-crafter friends, they might be willing to let you use some of their lots, which allow you to mine even more minerals etc.

3. You can make crates of cheap wepons (like survival knives) and Weapon upgrade kits.....and sell them to smugglers. (Use the bazzar for this) You won't get rich, but at least you'll make a little more $$$ which can add up...especially if you're doing #1 and #2.

Hope this helps.

All I can say is on Lowca selling starter weapons on the bazzar is easy easy money. I've noticed many a person changing profs to grind different FS types. I sell Vk's and starter weapons now and make enhanced weapons for guild mates and that's it. I got bored of making weapons for money. Unless you sell nice enhanced weapons or tonnes of normal weapons from factory crates...where is the money? I hate factories and love doing one offs. I only make factory crates of scythes and PH's the rest are all one offs.

But keys to WS are def resources, weapon enhancements and skilltapes aswell.

Also if you sell weapons that are sliced they seem to go well also, that or you can trash em with a bad slice...lol

I am only a 10pt and I do as much business as any 12pter on my server. It is about resources, and time to get a client base. I also start to offer cash back bonuses to clients that recommend me or shop often with me. No more than 10% but it gives them incentive to stick with me!
