When TC opens with the CU changes, be ready for some big suprises, both good and bad...all I ask is that you DO NOTreserve final judgmenet UNTIL you've fully tried out the changes...My personal fear is that some folks will see something they don't like or worries them and scream that the sky is falling...
If we do find something that appears wrong for Commandos (or overall), then we'll take time and build a case as to WHY it's wrong...we can then present that case to the Devs for them to reconsider...
I'm concerned that if we "over-react" to anything (over-react in the devs eyes) they'll shun us again like they did a long time back (it took us a long time before the Devs would even acknowledge us again after we flamed them away). The best thing we can do is rationally describe issues, explain why they are issues, and possible propose solutions...I'd also suggest bringing any issue you find back here to give Starnick a chance to address it...he'll likely know the reasons why the Devs might have set something up the way they did and how it could help as much as hurt us...or at the very least, he'll take the issue straight to the Correspondent forum where it will get the most attention.
I don't want anyone to think I'm suggesting there is a problem for Commandos in the CU...this is more of a "What If" type of suggestion when it comes to CU Concerns...The coolest thing, in my mind, is if while other professions have players who are "losing their minds", we present a cool calm and rational perspective that will seriously impress the powers that be...

Wise words written by one of the best correspondents of all IMO. Apply not only to commandos but ALL proffesions.
I'm quite sure he is a great correspondant, but look at commando as it has been for the past 2 years. It's utter, complete, crap. This is not something that a correspondant can post a little post about and have everything come together. This is a fundamental problem with SOE. They just dont care. I've had plenty of experience with this, I've been playing their games for a while. You can sign all the petitions you want, you can rant on the forums all you want, NOTHING WILL CHANGE.
This is the CU as I see it:
Game starts, lots of little issues started propping up.
Issues being to stockpile, devs get weary of whiners.
Devs swing the nerf bat, thousands suffer.
More issues, bugs, stupid errors show up.
Repeat above.
People quit as a result of the DEVs seeming non-caring about bugs that wouldnt take any effort to fix.
Time passes.
JTL comes out. It sucks.
Time passes.
WoW comes out, at last! An escape from SOE and their ignoring their customers. MANY people leave.
Devs/Higher ups catch wind of the common theme, people leaving for WoW and decide that SWG needs to change.
They ignore the bugs, and decide that ALL combat is evil and therefore needs to change.
The King of all Nerf bats is swung, the Master Image Designer works on SWG (ironic... because now they're $#%@($#% worthless).
BEHOLD! SWoW IS BORN!
Ever since the CU has been announced, I have been against it. I'll be the first to tell you this. Why? Because COMBAT ISNT BROKEN, MINOR ISSUES EXIST WITHIN THE COMMON SYSTEM THAT CREATE BIGGER PROBLEMS AFTER TIME. If you see a baby mouse in your house, and you ignore it, it will grow. You keep ignoring it, it'll grow more. You leave your table scraps out and it feeds on them and grows bigger. Sooner or later, this little baby mouse is going to be liken to a giant sewer rat. You wont be able to contain it, and it will bite you. Similar to the bugs and errors in the game that have time and time again been neglected. THIS IS THE MAJOR PROBLEM WITH SWG.
After all, isnt the saying, "If it's not broke, dont fix it" ?
PS. Sorry for the rant, but I feel like I'm being ripped off here. I've paid for SWG and JTL (3 copies) and a year of gameplay on each of the three. Simple math states that's around $350. That's alot of money for me, and that's alot of time spent on a game. I've become quite attached to it, and I love every aspect of it (sans the bugs and other minor imperfections). This is the game that I paid for, this is the game that I play. I dont pay for WoW, and I dont play WoW. There is a reason for it. I didnt fall in love with WoW, and therefore they dont get any money for it. I have lost all my will to play now that I see that SWG has turned into a big ripoff of WoW. It's pathedic really...

Whelp, now it's official. I've experienced the CU and now I am pissed and sad at the same time. Anything you liked before, forget it, it's long gone. Weapons? Absolutely worthless. I cant believe this... I feel so ripped off of my time and money. I'ma weaponsmith over on kauri as some of you may know, and what I'm seeing does nothing but piss me off. Not only did they manage to nerf almost every weapon, all at once, they put all the weapons on a bell curve. Low level weapons will hit like CDEFs where high level master box weapons will hit for around 2x how it was before. I dont know how they've changed condition yet, but consider this: All weapons I've used so far have 3k cond. DXR6bs, worthless, Berserkers, worthless, T21s, worthless, SG82s, worthless, Jawa Ion Rifles, worthless. That's just higher end rifles that you're likely using right now.

YAY! WOOKS GET NERFED AGAIN!
Well boys and girls, I wouldnt say I didnt see this comming, but it happened. Geo pistols got *NERFED*. They only do energy damage... they're quicker than most weapons, but they are sub-par compared to other weapons. Oh, and forget the idea of the CU making things easier to understand and adapt to. The learning curve is like a stab to the abdomen. Not quite as bad as EVE online, but it's getting there. It doesnt help no one has any armor, and we cant make any, so we dont know how that's going to play out, but honestly, what's the point. Weapons being uber, lasting forever, grenades that never run out, big flashy text telling you what's going on.... that's not what you do to capture your audience. It really does look like SWG is taking a turn for the UO. They're trying to make it too noob friendly, but this is making the rest of the game pay. I am starting to regret my investment in SWG.
I'll edit it to update with more info as I get it.
PS. The command queue is GONE

Obviously you don't know much about crafting in SWG, and you're a totally newb to Test Center. For one thing, you should know that player crafted weapons are SUBSTANTIALLY more powerful than stuff the blue froggies dish out. The weapons that the blue froggies dispense are of the same quality as regular weapons looted of NPCs. If you knew anything about Test Center, or crafting, you would know this.
Why don't you grind to master Weaponsmith, find some good resources, craft all those weapons, and you'll see that the stats are substantially better. But no, you'd rather come here after being on TC for only 30 minutes and badmouth the Devs. Something wrong with you?

and like the above poster said, if you knew anything about crafting you wouldnot be crying to baby jesus right now.
This is on the weaponsmith forums... because well... somehow I figured that stats on weapons might have something to do with weaponsmiths. Silly me!
Btw, calling someone trash isnt a good way to get anything good comming your way. Only a swift kick in the face (Yes, I know the reference is probably too subtle for you) ![]()

As for the high condition, that's probably just for TC purposes. I imagine that once it goes live condition on weapons will probably be about what it is now.
Really, the CU has been on TC for only a matter of hours. At least give it a couple of weeks before condemning it or the Devs.

Super high HP on weapons is an artifact of the Frog generating them. Crafted weapons should have around 1/3 or so of what the Frog is spitting out.
Ummm, WoW is using the EQ2 system of combat. EQ2 uses the EQ system of combat. And so, that means, is A=B, and B=C, then A is also equal to C, where A is EQ2, and B is WoW, and C is SWG.
This just became "World of Starquest".

With only 1xxx Artisan, poor materials, and worse tools, I just crafted a CU-CDEF that was better than what the frogs are handing out.
On a happy note, it let me experiment Damage & Speed seperatly ![]()
