Thread: How do you all deal with losing loot components to crit failures?

I was about to make my first ever batch of Krayt weapons. I was so exited!

I even went to a research center and found a good quality crafting station. I ran a couple practice handlers to see my stats. All great successes and a couple amazings. GREAT! I thought.

Then I tossed a tissue in...

Critical Failure!

Ouch.

So now instead of 4 Krayt Scatters I only have 3

What do you tell your customers? How loud, and what obscenities do you shout when you lose good tissue/loots to the f'ed up crafting system that seems to crit fail and "moderate success" now more than ever?

always always Always, warn a customer that critical failures are a possibliity both in assembly and in experimentation. The customer must understand that if he/she is to trust you with this krayt tissues or 1 use schematics. And if they whine about that tell that a master weaponsmith that doesnt warn them is taking the same chance as you. They have to understand that it is possible and that if it does happen there is nothing you can do.

Also I believe a research center only helps your experimentation results, not your assembly. I think manufacturing center helps that...

I've had 2 sets of 11 tissues for a Krayt T21. The first was a crit fail. The second set, the schematic skipped over the experimentation phase entirely as if I wasn't standing next to my crafting station, which madeit a useless schematic.

Both times I've had to step away from my computer and try and remember that its just a game.

Use Pyollian Cake (sp?)and Bespin Port, if you aren't already. I have yet to get a critical failure on assembly when using Pyollian Cake. And if you aren't already in a research city, it's definitely worth the time to go to one to craft specialty items like krayt weapons.

The food is yet another myth. I took some and crit failed on a t21 the other day. A customer came in and game me this food exactly what you listed, and said with this you will not crit failure wrong. Right out of the gate boom it blew up. Do not be spreading this stuff around. The crit failure rate is generic, and is connected to nothing but complexity at most. Second the city bonuses are bunk too. Havent heard to awful much like the research fascility put four more points on my gun. If The amazeings are the same as the greats. Then more amazeings wont do anything for you, and if crit failures are aligned with complexity same deal.

Heck even the higher point crafting stations do not seem to be working. I got one with fifty more points then I had. Crit failure rate is the same.

What I tell the customer is that as part of the game. Krayt weapons get a bonus to critical failure. Which seems to be the case. I have no control over it, and can do nothing about it. Complete roll of the dice. Though if your cutomer only lost one tissue that is atleast acceptable.

Umm... the food is not a "myth", it reduces critical failure chance. But *NOTHING* in the game eliminates critical failure chance.

Anyways, I always first warn my customer there is a chance of failure, however I will be eating pollynian (spelling is off...) cake for the assembly roll, and then drinking bespin port for the experimentation rolls. I live in a research or manufacturing city (don't remember which...), so I get a bonus to rolls there, too.

Oddly enough, I rarely critical fail when I'm making something for a customer (I'm unsure if I have ever critically failed on krayt tissue for a customer, but I've made so many I don't remember for sure).... however I have critically failed on things I make for myself tons of time. Got a real bad experimentation roll on an acklay bone power hammer for myself, I had a krayt scatter pistol delete itself (I double clicked it to examine it... then all of a sudden I got a "Confirm Delete?" dialog box, which I promptly hit "NO", and of course it deleted itself), and I've had a few other failures

but it's no big deal, seeing as it's just a game and all.

I was merely replying on the fact that the food liquor will fix it so you do not fail which is a myth. I cannot atest, and I doubt anyone else can either. Simply put that means running raw data on everything from empty and buffed. To see if there is a noticeable effect.

Sadly ontop of this there would probabally be bias. Those who want to beleive that the food canvex any problem. Will twist the figures to prove it. The ones you would like for the food not to work. Would find equally depressing data.

Like I mentioned a fifty point increase on my station, and no noticeable difference.Infact I would swear crit failures happen more often. So I will not buy stock in the new food working, while a critical ingredient like the crafting stations are not.

In a "resource city" you get a bonus to assembly, not experimentation and the only resolution I found was to buy the Weaponsmith limited tool kit for 600K.............it gives you +5 to repair, +5 to assembly, and +3 to experimentation...........

Eat this..........Drink that..........Craft here.............BLA BLA BLA

Tool quality dosnt work..........

Station quaility dosnt work..........

City bonuses dont work..........

NOTHING in this game works

Not even the developers know how the game works Anyone who thinks that anything in the game actully working is anything more but random convergance of the game code is fooling themselves.

Anyone thinking otherwise should hurry to their local medical professional because they are COMPLETLY UTTERLY DELUSIONAL

Thatwere able to even log into the game is a sheer act of random luck

Well, I wasn't trying to spread 'myths'. I can state for a fact that I've never gotten a critical failure on assembly when using Pyollian Cake.Using Bespin Port I also tend to get fewer critical failures/moderate successes in experimentation, though I still get some. Maybe I've just been lucky so far, but it seems to me that the foods do provide some benefit. Though as others have said, the foods aren'tnecessarily a guarantee.

I can also say that I've noticed no difference using a negative rated crafting station versus a 43+ rated station. On crafting day I also made some 100% 15 FR crafting tools, but haven't really noticed a difference with them either.

As for foods working while crafting stations/tools do not, that seems entirely plausible to me. SOEhas constently and consistentlyadded new content while leaving unfixed stuff that has been broken since thegame was launched.

I have never experienced a crit fail after usingPyollian Cake. However, I only use itright before crafting a specialweapon (i.e. something with krayt or geo loot) so I don't have a ton of crafting examples using it.

The cake I have is +14, plus +10 for being aMon Cal, plus +5 for the WS tool kit gives me a total +29 to assembly if I eat some cake.

Of course, by posting thisI have probably jinxed my next sonic blaster attempt.

from being mayor, I think classifying your city as a "manufacturing" city gives a bonus of +2 or +5 to assembly, can't remember which.........I'll have to check that tonight..........

Using Pyollian Cake I can get an Amazing Success on Assemblies 1/2 the time. The only problem is that Amazing Success' have no meaning on Assemblies (**edit**?).

The Experimentation Drink is pretty cruddy though, since Experimentation is so random and crappy. Honest... I won't quit because there's nothing else out there that has a crafting system like this game. However, I'm pretty sad that SOE has done such a CRAPPY job fixing stuff. I've seen few other games that take so long to even RECOGNIZE errors and bugs!

I think if the Dev's were required to play at least 3 hours a week, we'd see a huge number of fixes and less work on an expansion that's going to cost a ton.
