Thread: weaponsmiths... a change I believe we should push for
Why? Because the name of the smith is on the weapon, but the smugglers isn't.
Also, the current "This weapon may have been altered" sliced message is, IMO, lame, and makes it tough to check the original stats on the weapon.
I think we should push for a change to the slicing display.
First, make slicing results display like a powerup. Under the "This weapon may have been altered", put a powerup display, like "+75 to max damage", or something similar.
I have heard that when smugglers slice a weapon, it tells them the % success... why not slap that % into the slice description thing?
Finally... slap the name of the smuggler who sliced the weapon on the weapon when it is sliced. Maybe in a "sliced by: " section.
This sounds like a pretty good idea to me. /sign

yep, on bloodfin 3/4 of the servers weaponsmiths are naming their weapons with the stats in the title, and the company name
another thing i have seen happening is to have a a series name of every stock u have, lets say this week u name the weapons "uber" series, u just use excel or something u have like it, and keep track of all your weapons. if you do it that way, if someone asks you what the stats are on a weapon and u have no idea off hand, instead of loading a laggy server, u can just alt-tab and open the excel file and ur all set, everything is organized and u will have little to no problem keeping track of any of your weapon information

Just place the mindamage-maxdamage (speed) into the title of the weapon you create. Then anyone can look at the actual damage and determine the type and quality of the slice.

I see where you guys are coming from, but I have to disagree with this for a few reasons.
1. slicing is a smuggling issue should not be a WS issue. If you sell sliced weapons you know who sliced it and customers can comparitive shop by using the stats in the name.
2. Slicing is ILLEGAL , therefore it breaks with the RPG nature of the game to add a smugglers name to a sliced weapon!, think about it in RL terms I go buy a AR-15 semi-auto rifle from joes gunshop, everything is nice and legal, I then take it over to a friend of a friend and he makes a few "adjustments" making it a fully automatic weapon, HIGHLY ILLEGAL, same thing here in RPG terms.
just a few things I wanted to say. I know this is a game and RL should notbe used in examples but i think it is releveant to the RP type environment we are siupposed to be in, in having some of these changes ingame would break that for me.
Yeah but is the roleplay part of this game getting taken seriously at all. When your caught with an illegal weapon the authorities seize it. Call me a jerk but that would be a blast in this game. Stormtrooper slays you, and quickly confiscates the illegal item. Would make the whole part of sliced weapons a bit more fun. A pathetic fine, or a loss of faction, or death are really not all too impressive.
The problem is all weapons are sliced. There is no market for an unsliced weapon. So what the stats on the slice are matters not. If it was a crumby slice the weapon will still not be bought.
I think the real answer is for the crackdown not to be so whimpy. If someone were to know that carrying a sliced weapon might come at the cost of loseing said weapon it would be alot more fun. This way unsliced weapons will have demand, and alot of weaponsmiths will not feal compelled to be smugglers aswell.
I feal that the devs are takeing it a little too easy on all of us now. Takeing away part of the adventure. Carrying an illegal firearm from a roleplay standpoint should come at a higher price then this. Can we please stop whineing about something this trivial. There are better things to whine about.
Weapons inbalances, component inbalances. The crit failure rates. The list of real issues are more important then how was the slice on my illegal weapon. Which either made it perfect, or utterly ruined it.
As it stands now there is far too much requirementals . You go to a dungeon you have to be buffed and fed. You want a armor well it must be sliced. All weapons must be sliced. In other words to have thirty minutes of fun you have to go through thirty minutes of mind numbing boredom. Is it me or do we need a meter to judge the slice on this kind of stuff.
