Thread: Do you mine your own resources? Or buy most from miners?

The subject says it all. I'm curious about this because I mine all of my own resources (including power) because I hate relying on others, but it seems like many smiths on my server primarily deal with miners. I have 3 accounts so lot management isn't an issue for me and I sell my wares a lot cheaper than most because my resource costs are so cheap.

I buy everything but power. I just decided early on that I was sick of chasing after power, so I pay someone else 100K a week to do it for me. That lets me maximize harvester production.

You mean you mine everything? Or did I misunderstand?

I think Eola meant he mines it all himself.....

I do the vast majority myself. Occasionally I'lluse resource miner to increase a stockpile of something I mined or get something I just didn't have enough lots left to get myself.

Almost everything I have I've mined myself (including energy). Occasionally if I see some nice resources on the bazaar or on someone's vendor I will purchase a quantity of them - but that's the exception to the rule.

I mine everything I need, with the help of a couple friends. I like being self-sufficient too. It allows me to have what I want, when Ineed it.

I mine all my own. I'm also a very low volume seller, though(which is how I like it - I know almost all my customers by name).

I mine most of my resources, mainly because I can't afford to pay miners. I buy small lots of resources off the bazaar. Occasionally I'll make the trip to a resource vendor when I hear about a good price on a resource I didn't get enough of.

I find it depends on what happens to be out there. If in the one shift you have more than a couple of resources you want a lot of, it pays to secure resources via a third party. I think a lesson we all have learned at one time or another is that it's better to be overstocked on resources than understocked.

That being said having multiple accounts doesn't constitute as "mining your own" in my eyes. Just because they happen to be your account(s) it's using the lots of more than one character, so in my eyes that's gone beyond 'mining your own'. I take the view as per character, if you're using one character's lots worth to mine, you're 'mining your own' - if you are using more ... then it's not mining your own. Not that the distinction really matters!

Also sometimes it pays to visit resource resellers. Sometimes they are extortionate, but other times you can find things you're low on and need, to outright bargains. I picked up 40k of the best advanced projectile feeder axidite ever to show up on my server for 2.5cpu, because the stats don't actually look all that great, as a whole - and 100k of an OQ975 polymer for 2cpu, which I can turn around straight away into good powerups (with the right minerals too, of course).

I mine all that is possible for me..even using my rl bro's lots...but I still end up having to buy a lot....Id say about 60% of resources I have I mined, 40% bought. Often I buy cuz I need more...sometimes cuz there were just too many great resources out at once...But keep in mind also that I'm a VERY high volume weaponsmith on my server...So I horde mountains of resources. And I do harvest my own radio power.

I'm glad to see most others mine their own. I was beginning to think I was a strange since it seems as if everyone is always buying resources that I mine the hell out of myself. The only time I ever problems is when there's a few stellar resources out at the same time and their in particularly high demand (i.e. great copper, steel and iron).

And Ciiri, there's something to be said for buying resources from an ex-weaponsmith. I definitely don't have to waste time educating you on what's good!
