1 point away from the max damage cap?

Damage: 361 - 965

Speed: 2.01

Being a Master BH/Master Pistoleer, my modified speed is 1.19, so I don't want to speed slice it. Being a Pistoleer, I have Critical Strike as an attack, so I don't really want to crit slice it. What will a 8% Damage/2% Speed/3% Crit do? Will the 8% damage slice just push max damage to 966? Will min damage push to 390? Any info is greatly apreciated.

It would push the damage all the way up. And it's supposed to push the min up if you go with the 8% damage slice. But there are reports of the slice not being applied when it's that close to the cap. And with the stats on your weapon, you're much better off with a 10% critical slice, in my opinion.

If Im not completely msitaken the slcing cap for Feathers is 935. so it wouldnt apply to max dam. Ive heard you cant slice once you are above the slicing cap so I dont think you would be able to apply a dam slice at that weapon, but I havent tried myself, so this is only hearsay. Id ask on the smuggler forum tbh they are the masters of slicng and should know

I was thinking of posting there, it's just that Weaponsmiths know more about caps than a Smuggler would. Most of the smugglers I've talked to just slice. They don't pay attention to stats. If I were to go to one, with a speed sliced weapon, and asked for a 12% speed slice, 95% of them would try to apply it. So I figured the best person to ask about a weapon, would be those who make them.

You won't be able to damage slice it - as its over the damage slicing cap. You should get some sort of message when you attempt it saying that its not possible.

It's my understanding that the Crit. slice will increase the chance of landing a critical shot, even with critical shot as a special. Wouldn't you rather be hitting criticals more often (as I have heard people say the slice does work well).

<---doesn't really know, just curious

From what ive gathered from slicing my own weapons is you cant slice once past slice cap but if just one point under you can slice for the full 8%.

Example.

If you wanted to make a high min damage fwg5 for pvp/jedi you would use some lowish Gorax shards. then do full damage exp. to get the min damge up full and max to around 900.

Now although a first level damage slice at 2% would take it to 918 (would cap at 916) you will still be able to do the 4 and 8% damage slices after, increasing the min damage to over 400.

So it looks like the slicing cap only stops the initial slice.

Slightly off the question topic but maybe be helpful info.

Interesting....I have had alot of folks asking about getting Min damage up, and if this works, might be another trick in the bag.

If you slice a 965 FWG5 it will drop the max damage down to 935 but may raise the minimum. I would use a critical slice. Even though you have a critical shot a critical slice is worth it because, then you have a chance with every shot.

It will not let you damage slice it at all once its past either the slicing or crafting cap.

Bah.. blanked a post.

Either way, here's what happened when I tried.

If you are ALREADY at or above the slicing cap, it won't let you slice it at all. It will give you a message saying so.

If you are BELOW the cap and start slicing, it will let you slice it.. and keep slicing it even though you reach the cap. Basicly wasting those slices since the max will NEVER go above cap.(The min "may" have increased though, I wasn't looking at it)
