too many dabblers are going tka for the meditation line, either for wound healing and/or powerboost.

Since Meditation really does not do much good untill you get the whole line. Let them dabble. Its not easy to get to TKN in the first place so let them do as they please.

Agreed, Ssedi. You don't get that much out of meditation and if you don't go into at least a few other areas of Teras Kasi you're going to have a fairly tough ride up the meditation line. If a person is willing to work for that then I respect it, they're as deserving as anyone else.

What's wrong with dabblers? It's one thing if someone finds a cheap (skill-point wise) way of getting most of the use out of a profession; then it's time to change things around. But the meditation line is only one part of TK.

It's a skills-based game, not a class-based one. People are supposed to mix & max skills. You don't have to follow the formula 3 Masters + extra.

Remember, these aren't classes...they are *professions*

I'm Mastering Swordsman and taking the TKA Meditate Line, why...honestly because it'll look awesome! What do Jedi's do, meditate...and use swords, it's the closest I'll get.

The devs are intent on making this game class based and it's a sad state of affairs that they are going against their word, but this is what you can expect and any other changes after this I won't be surprised to see.

i also think there going ot have to work for that meditation line.. i mean its going to be a bitch getting up to meditation 4 with just unarmed hit 2, ther egoing to have to go up skills and then drop them, so i honestly dont care..

and at tkm, we have unarmed hit 3, so why does meditation matter :-P

Huh? A skill line has to have some tangible benefit. PB is great for those that want to achieve TKM. It helps a whole lot and adds value to meditate, often one of the last lines taken. Folks have to spend a minimum of 40 points to just dabble in that line, and the benefits you get aren't all that great. It's 44 points just to get PB and it won't last terribly long.

The CH was a completely different situation. For a1100 spec, you could purchase a fully-trained pet from an MCH and basically be as effective as the MCH. In fact, moreso because you had a ton of extra skill points to invest in combat or healing or whatever. It was way, way overpowered. Too many folks regard the CH change as anti-dabbling. In fact, it's just balancing. You can still dabble in CH, but you won't be nearly as overpowered as before.

So powerboost needs to be changed because too many people like the extra 500 in the HAMs?

A decent doc buff is 1500+ across the board. You don't even need to spend any skill points to get that. Same thing with food and spices. You can get 3k+ Mind and powerboost is only 500 of that. Hardly considered overpowered.

I wonder why CH is getting nerfed then.....

Becuase the single best ability wasn't at master (you could use a graul mauleer, the best PvE pet at 3-2-0-0). I think you could make the claim that a 3-2-0-0 CH has about 60% of the benefit of a MCH for less than half the skill points.

They are looking at the professions and making sure that most of the benefit can't be gained in a single line. One could argue, for example, that most of the value for bounty hunter is in a single line. While the meditation line is incredibly useful (even to other combat classes), it's hard to argue that it contains *most* of the value of TKM. All that unarmed speed, damage, and toughness you would miss out on in addition to knockdown and dizzy...

The recent medical usage enhancement nerf to doctors was an example of shifting some benefit from dabbler to master (doc was a profession where 80% of the benefit of the profession was available to a 0-4-3-0 dabbler).

I dont really this its 60% of a ch(that is 3-2 or whatever) for this simple reason. 2 maulers out at one time. Thats twice the hits and twice the ham of one. Also if you watch how some ncp's attack the pets, much of the time they will switch off between the pets. Another good reason for two, isif you are soloing a ncp that takes you a little while to killand your pet starts bleeding, you mayneed to run if the ncpisent about dead.So I think that 60% is a tad understated. Also another benifit is the amount of pets you can store. I use to go through pet stims pretty fast, but now that I can have 2 maulers out, and have 6 of them(I had more, but wanted a variety) If even oneof my petsgets below 50%, I just make camp, store him, and pull out a replacement. Out of all my professions, I think master ch is going to be the one I will miss most.
