Thread: Should I drop the armor at TKM?

I hit master TKM and bought a +4/+17 melee/stun defense shirt and pants. I also bought a +13/+14 Intimidate/Warcry undershirt, and was wondering if I should drop the armor overall, and just buff/muon/PB. I am also a commando, so dealing out the damage isnt a prob, just need to be able to survive, and I noticed that wearing my 70% kinetic Ubese tends to double my HAM cost for UH3, and it regens much slower. What do you all recommend I do to max out my PVE ability?

UA2 is way more ham effecient.

Unless I'm buffed out like crazy, I never spam UA3.

So does that mean keep the armor and use UH2? And how much better is UH3 than UH2?

i'd say its more of a personal choice than a general thing to do.

i've personally dropped my armor for now in favor of my BE clothing, but thats me -- it's mainly for a few reasons:

a) i wanted to free up some inventory space so i could wear a bandolier instead of my pack,

b) a friend started playing and was working towards TK so i figured he'd get better use out of it than i was

c) i wasn't fighting things solo that were damaging me enough to make it worth it -- with good stim b's and meditation, i had little to no downtime, so i didn't feel i needed to reduce it further, and

d) i'm lazy and got tired of switching in and out of armor -- even with my macro (which for some odd reason would lag people i was with for a second, but thats another story)

with buffs/powerboost/food, you can get your stats so that HAM costs will be almost nothing and regen rates will be quite high either with or without armor, it's just a matter of whether or not you like the comfort of having an extra 70% to kinetic (or other types of damage).

Should I drop the armor at TKM?

Yes. With intimidate and toughness mods it's not needed against most things. If you go with a steady diet of doc buffs then you won't need it.

Thanks guys, a couple q's on my BE'd clothes:

1. Do they go down in condition by fighting?

2. When they hit 0 cond, do they just stop working like armor? (Just wondering because it is skill modifiers instead of resists)

1: no, only by dying

2: not a clue actually, i haven't let my BE clothing get that low yet

ummmm why dont you hang onto it, dont use it, then if you decide that you dont like that route, start using it again?

Maybe because I wanted to hear the opinions of others and see what others are doing so I can make an educated decision?

After I hit TKM.... I tended to not want to solo so much. I was content with just "tanking"... if your just tanking you dont really need to go about spamming specials left and right. Just survive, add state effects, chase down critters trying to eat your group, occasional kd+dizzy+warcry or something. But as a "tank" I never even bothered with uh3 or the like... That's just one scenario....

My buddy is a TKM. He rarely ever uses armor, unless he gets aggroed by more things than he planned on, or is taking on something rather tough.... But mostly he goes unarmored (but fully buffed). He does well enough.

I used armor for about five minutes on the whole way to TKM. Just didn't like the ham costs. Maybe I was the stupid and foolish one, but it worked for me.

Ive always used armor, but then again im a chef and have had the food/drink combos to counteract the secondary HAM reductions, going to try without armor once i hit master ( tonight )

I started TKA last week and thought I'd be using my 70% Ubese. Instead I'm using BE clothing and Doc buffs/Muon and just using knockdown/Warcry then spamming UH2. Already at 2/2/4/3 from hunting quenkers, Pickets and hurtons on Dantooine.

Armour was just too costly on the mind and it isnt really necessary with buffs, you kill stuff before it really gets a chance to lay into you. However if you dont bother with buffs then yes get some decent Ubese and use beserk, would be hella slow though.
