Off topic, But...
Atone, I thought you said you would "never lower yourself to using a gun". Is there a way to grind marksman with your fists now?

Not to beat a dead horse (I hate PETA) but if the NERF criers would perform this one little act of trying out a profession they hate I might have stayed with this game.

Well that's good to hear. I'm glad that you have a more open mind now.
As far as people calling for TKM nerfs, I think they are probably pretty justified. TKM is at least in the top 3 of all professions as far as PvP and PvE are concerned. The other two classes being Rifleman and Combat Medic.
The thing about TKM is not so much the power that they have alone, but the skill points and time it takes to master. I think that TKM should have MASTER Brawler (That wouldn't be so bad would it?) and at least 1 line from Medic as pre-req's. I think that would serve to bring TKM in line with a few more elite professions.
As a TKM the only classes that I worry about in PvP are Rifleman and CM. As far as I am concerned, if I'm fully buffed, any other elite combat profession poses the same threat to me as a novice artisian would.

when referencing skill points don't forget most other profs require about same. rifleman only needs one tier of marksman for instance. pistoleer and carbine also each require one tier before going elite.
bounty hunter and commando are different arguements. they do lots of different types of damage...with little defs, but they would be invulnerable if they had those on top of offensive damage. combat medic does large area of damage. if you want the tkm to take more points you would have to give more types of damage also. remember we only have kinetic. we also have pretty low resists to kd. that's kind of ironic. you can't take something without offering something in it's place...(but the devs can
we aren't hard to beat if you are in kinetic armor and have the food and drink going

You know. I really don't understand this argument. It seems to me the bulk of TKM nerfers are crying about a 20m range that TKA's have on knockdown. This means that the majority of the time they are being hit with Unarmed Lunge2, which in turn means that the TKA they are fighting has taken the time to master brawler. This isn't enough of a skill point investment to you? Much more of a skill investment and TKA's wouldn't be able to setup shop.
We aren't Bounty Hunters, we don't recieve 100,000 Credit missions to go kill jedi, we aren't combat medics we can't poison people for 800 dammage a tick, We aren't smugglers we can't make spice, We aren't Commandos we don't have a flame thrower attack that does gives a ton of wounds, we aren't bio engineers who can make a level 50 gorg that has a number of DOT attacks, and we aren't Squad Leaders we don't give group bonus's to all those people that group with us. We are TKA's our line is derrived from the brawler tree and although we deal alot of the dammage we are typically the first incapped/slain when what we attack is above and beyond our groups abailities. All of the hybrid professions have a number of items which make their professsion marketable, Squad Leaders can sell the resources they can harvest with the scout line, bio engineers can make items for food, clothing and then they can make pets with special abilities on top of it, smugglers can make and sell spice, commandos can make & sell grenades, bounty hunters recieve jedi missions which pay extremely well.
If made into a hybrid profession with medic TKA's would have no means of getting credits other than doing missions repeatedly. And there's really no justification for that when the majority of nerf criers are simply complaining about a Master Brawler skill called Unarmed Lunge2.

I guess that I am biased because before I was TKM, I was a Bounty Hunting, TKM hater (if you can't beat them join them).
You are correct that most of the elite combat professions have the same skill point sink that TKM does, but you would probably have a tough time convincing the general populous that that TKM was on the same level with Pikeman, Carbineer, Pistoleer, Heavy Swardsman, etc as far as effectiveness is concerned. The evidence of this is all around you; you can't go to any city in SWG without running into another TKM.
I like the idea of making Master Brawler a pre-req because it would make TKM's more powerful while at the same time making them less common since it would require more of skill point investment. Medic also makes sense as a pre-req since we can heal ourselves with the meditation branch.
I don't think your arguement about earning credits makes much sense. SWG was designed in such a way that NO player should be self-sufficient. TKM is very close to that in its current form. I don't need armor to survive PvE or PvP combat of any type, I only use 1 weapon and it isn't really necessary unless fighting against armored opponents, I can heal my own wounds, I can buff myself, and I can revive myself from incap. The only thing we cannot do is heal BF. With only a 92 skill point investment, we are one degree removed from being a 1-person army. Show me any other class that holds a candle to our abilities, heck show me any combination of 2 classes that can. Why should we be able to make money by doing anything other than missions? We are trained killing machines, not savvy business men. I don't know about you, but I can easily solo 25k missions, that can lead to a lot of credits. TKM is not balanced with the rest of the elite combat professions, and if we leave it to the Dev team to "balance" us with everyone else we will be very disappointed.
I am not saying that TKM is a unbeatable foe, I have been dropped many times in PvP by a smarter opponent, every time I've died though it was because I made a mistake, not because I was overmatched.

tataomm, i wouldn't be so open on admitting you couldn't beat a tkm with your bh. that's just poor planning for the fight.
i am fine with your suggestion by making master brawler a req but not the med line. what does meditate have to do with being a doc?
now for the not fearing other profs as a tka: a little bit of a overstatement. have you fought a pistoleer/smuggler/fencer? the carbineer has a pretty wicked kd also. i've been on my butt for the whole fight against a few of them. fencers can beat us also....so can swordsman.
this statement, "I am not saying that TKM is a unbeatable foe, I have been dropped many times in PvP by a smarter opponent, every time I've died though it was because I made a mistake, not because I was overmatched.", kind of contradicts itself.
