I think this is a great idea. It would also be cool if the dev's made it possible for betting to go on.

sounds great but why not player cities? have them in both player and real cities tkms could place them in cities. Like a master doc places a med center in a player city.

not to rain on the parade but battlefields dont work, what would make you think that anything combat orientated in terms of an arena would work.

there would also be no way of implementing a *fair* fight.

I don't personally like the "stadium-like" setup that you describe. I like the idea, don't get me wrong there, but a dojo is not supposed to be an arena. I would not mind the building working like you mention, but it should be a large room instead of a stadium, with an area in the center designated by a different color (or a ring or square "painted" on the floor) aith the outer area being where spectators can gather...

If we take the idea and change the building name to Arena or Stadium or something else of that nature would be fine with me as wellthough

You can always have someone setup a PA like a dojo. Have the main floor decorated with weapons and martial arts stuff and use the roof as the arena. Have the dojo master lead the duels on the roof.

Most servers have something like this setup... and call them fight nights or somehting like that.

I agree, but the problem with this is that you still do not get any type of exemption from teh 3 Incap Death. To me a Dojo would be a place where that would be null, therefore allowing you to hone your fighting skills...

If you pay a doc, or have a second account who is a doc, you could resurrect the guy and rebuff him. Since PvP death deals no decay, you only lose buffs. I have a second account and she is a doc and musician, so when I do stuff like this, I move her so she is available to support the festivities.

Since TKM's can make a great living farming Janta's, I would find a doc and pay him/her 200k for a night of support. Since most docs just sit around anyway, they would enjoy watching combat and talking to spectators. I would have no problem with pitching in 50k to secure a doc for the night, if someone asked.

I read somewhere (I'll have to find the link) that the PvP Death extension to duels was not actually designed that way and is a bug... Let me see if I can find that post first, but if that is the case then a Dojo would be nice to have.

I'm not saying there are not ways around it, and the way you describe works quite well, but it would still be nice to have a building that is designed for the sole purpose of testing your skills and not having to worry about the need of a Doc on hand.

I do agree my friend. Everytime I have done this type of setting on a PA hall, there was normally a lot of time between matches, since so many people participated. Even towards the end of the night when match rotations were fast, I don't remember a 3 cap death at all. The only rule they stuck too was, all TKM's had to be deathblow, because we have force of will.... so that is where I came up with the doctor bit. It was nice to res and rebuff.

Heh, you know, I keep forgetting about FOW...

I've attended a couple of small scale events that were very similar, and, thankfully, we have a few Docs in our Guild so it wasn't really an issue for us, just would be a nice thing to have

i had a dojo set up on Lowca. i had to take it down because i started a player city, and i needed the spare lots for a shopping mall and museum in town.

i know a few weeks back i was reading in the architect threads that some poeple have proposed a combat arena (collesium type thing or something) where it would be an outside fight arena. i think we should try and form an alliance with the architects and try and make this a reality.
