Thread: Unarmed Toughness

These are 2 questions relating to both Unarmed Toughness (which I hear acts like light kinetic armor) and all the other "toughness".

  • Does Unarmed Toughnesswork when your NOT weilding the weapon corresponding to the mod (ie: fist or VK for unarmed toughness)?

ie: When weilding another weapon like, say, a carbine or rifle does the Unarmed Toughness still protect you?

  • If the answer to the above is "Yes" then my next question is whether or not the toughness mods from one tree stack with another? Or does only the highest value count?

ie: Will 50 Unarmed Toughness stack with 50 1h Toughness thereby giving me a total of 100 toughness.

  • Bonus Question: Does toughness work against ALL kinetic damage or just melee kinetic?

Toughness skill mods do not stack unfortunately.
Toughness skill mods do however protect against all forms of Melee damage.
Toughness skill mods do not however protect against ranged attacks.

unarmed toughness is unarmed toughness, if you pick up a sword or a pistol you arent unarmed right? therfore the unarmed toughness is negated, i believe that this has been discussed many times, search is your freind.

What Oli said.

Sorry, I thought that was covered when I said toughness didn't stack. I shoudl have been more clear. If you have any more questions, let us all know. Good luck.

Yes, a very tricky subject, but as commented on before I believe unarmed toughness only works whilst actually unarmed (or using VKs).

This can be demonstrated by walking up to a Krayt dragon, taking a hit whilst unarmed, then wielding a pistol and having someone scrape you off the ground. In both cases it hurts, and ultimately will result in your demise, but with a pistol you'll feel the pain so much quicker

I'm pretty sure unarmed toughness is not limited to protecting you from melee damage. When I drop my FT, the same shots i was taking from whatever npc drastically drop in damage.

no one said it was limited to just melee dmg, we said it only works if you are unarmed. thats why you take more dmg with you flamer equipped, without it you are unarmed.

ok, I wanna know how this works... i know this post is old and as i found it through search... here is comes:

If I pvp with my VKs, I have 57% defence from the unarmed toughness, and a PSG with 48% then a composite with 80% defence, and I intimidate the other player, and lets say the other player normally does 2k dammage to animals with no protection etc, to make it simple... will the intimidate act first and reduce the dammage to 1000, then the unarmed toughness will reduce it to 430 then the PGS will reduce it to 228 and then the composite will reduce it to 45? am I right about the order of those defences? I have searched for this for a while but my searches only reach things I'm not looking for, so that why I am asking here....

Doesn't matter what order they are in the total amount of reduction will be the same (Math class finally paid off woot!)
(100 - 50%) - 25% = 37.5
(100 - 25%) - 50% = 37.5

Pop Quiz: What mathematical law(s) make this true?

Peace.
