People whine and cry that we get kited and while this is true there is an easy way to stop them from doing it. We dont need no snare move or new skills to stop them since we can use skills already in the game for it. How do you say? Easy...use supression fire 1. If they try to kite you, equip your gun and supression fire until you make them bend to at least their knees...then all you need to do is equip you vk's knock them down and they are toast.

If you are asking why in the hell should I equip a pistol to do that while we should have some special as a tera kasi master for that same purpose? Well maybe you are right but then again you are given skills to complement your class. The tera kasi artist class is a class that needs to be complemented with other skills and in a game where ranged weapons is the norm, this should be obvious. Thats why you get 250 skill points...so that you can take on different skills and one skill tree that is a most have and probably 95% of the people in the game has is the ranged support tree. If you play the game just with your vk's and not a single ranged weapon then dont whine. You should at least have a ranged weapon for many reasons which Im not going to point out, because if you dont see it then you are blind.

You dont need to spend many points to get ranged support 4 and you dont need to master any other profession to make tka good in pvp...you just need that skill to complement it. Now if you master another profession like master doctor or Cher or whatever that is not a crafting profession then more power to you. But dont think that just because you are a tera kasi artist master that you should be owning in pvp all the time. Become a TKM, get a gun on the side with supression fire and then you will see a difference about the kiters. I know supression fire doesnt work as much as we would wanted to but hey...were you expecting everything to be handed out in a silver platter?

Im not saying TKA dont need a fix in certain areas because we do but c'mon...dont whine, dont cry if you only want to master tera kasi with no other skills on the side to complement it and you get your ass owned in pvp. Im a tera kasi...almost master...and kick ass in pvp because I not only have the complementary skills to do so..but because I choose my fights well too.

Nice of you to come here and post on how someone should play or make there char. If I dont want to use a gun then I have the option not to.That is why it would be nice to add skills to the TKA tree to better help us in pvp.I don't see to manypeople that can use guns that have tomany complaints aboutpvp. There is no reason we should have to go to another skill tree to get the skill we need for pvp. As for your point of using supressoin fire, there is no point. You may as welljust say you don't want any upgrads or improvments in the game.So if something is not in the game already there is no reason for it to be added to the game. Now that is the way to look at things.

I don't know butI have not used a gun in this game. I seem to be doing just fine in PVP and PVE.Like you said, pick your fights. Don't let the fight pick you.

Oh ya let me get right on that. *looks thru bags for her gun* Oh wait...I'm unarmed and don't have a gun.

What Im trying to say is that there are ways right now to stop people from kiting us. If you dont use those skills then thats your problem and should not whine. Lets hope that in the future we have something in TKA profession that will work as supression fire. But the truth is, I cant think of any unarmed technique that could make someone in range be stopped. If they see you coming and start running and shooting there is no way you could catch someone because even if your burst run they can burst run as well. But with supression fire if they are in gun range, you can make them stop running to catch them. Its not like you have to get into an elite profession to get this skill. If you dont use it its your fault....you are given a wide variety of skills to choose from, period. If you need this skill to stop someone from kiting then get it and wait for devs to work on a skill for the TKA profession that does that. AND MY POINT once again is..."we can stop them from kiting us with the right skills as it is right now".

I am a TKA /Rifleman, and you are a week behind the times. Suppression fire was nerfed. Now it doesn't work worth a darn.

If you are to stubborn with 'I am a melee' to usea gun when it is appropriate, then you will be weeded from the gene pool.

Yah and you also have the option to get gunned down by somone with a gun....

In todays world you have the option to charge somone with a shot gun, screaming your going to kill them with a sword....Is it smart? No....

I aplogize for being so blunt in my point, as I agree meelee's need to be balanced, however there are some basic things you have to understand in a skill based game.

1.) Your tree does not give you the right to stand toe to toe with any other class. Each class is diffrent.

2.) There is a reason why its skill based and not class based....If you want to be a pure meelee, then you will lack a good portion of power aofrded to everyone else.

Just the same, if you were to only take ranged skills, you would lack the ability to heal yourself..No class in this game is any good with a single skill tree set...I do not care what skill tree that is. Diversity is a power, you only choke yourself by not divsifying.

No one is telling you how to play your class, but if you make a pistoleer/chef/tailor...You will get rocked by a pistoleer/medic...or a pistoleer/carbineer....Bottlenecking yourself into pure swords is as detrimental as bottlnecking into any other elite profession, especially when there is so much room to spread out in this game....

All the original poster was trying to illustrate was, that for 29 points you can stop a ranged user in his tracks, and beat him to death...I am a **edit** good PvPer, and I have had this used on me very effectivly by more then one TKA.

Again I support you guys in your efforts to balance things out, especially in tanking within PvE, but getting mad over tactical usage of skill points is silly....Especially considering the people your fighting in PvP will probably have designed thier class from the ground up for PvP

btw mel, Sorry to have quoted you, I was more refering to the general concenuss of most meelee's, that they have a right to be as good as everyone, simply because they master a profession. I agree with your statement about picking your fights, I have had meelees users woop me really bad .

BTW my statement does not just apply to only meelees, If a pistoleer refuses to take anything but marksmenship professions, then says he is underpowered, I would say the exact same thing.

Ballem) For starters, we have an attack that forces players down a posture change, lunge1. The problem is that we have to run all the way on top of them, then KD. By that time they have almost always stood up and began running again. Suppression fire is just a long range lunge+29 skill points.

Taewyn) No one wants to be a superhero, you seem to have misread the 'general will'. Most players want the advantage in melee, which isn't all that much to ask in my opinion. And it's been beaten to death over and over again why we are without advantage in all situations, so I won't go into that again.

Please nerf TKA's! I just one hit incap'd myself again with knockdown!

TK artists could make use of a randomely affective short duration snare or possibly atemporary speed-up skill (not burst run). I see the ranged kiting of melees in PvP as aminor grief, however kiting is an elementary effect of being melee and fighting a ranged fighter and it needs to stay. If a Teras Knock-down artist could get right up to you every time, well you'd be lying on the ground helpless while the 'Knock-down artist spams whatever changs pos./knockdown move he most prefers. Withoutthe edge of being able to attack from a distance there's going to be a lot of players upset by dying lying on the ground. I don't think it's as much a question of how a melee fighter can beat a ranged fighter b/c if you consider the situation realisticallythe person with a gun is usually going to beat the person with brass knuckles, unless 'knuckles gets within a few feet of 'gunner. The focus should be on "what kind of profession am I getting into? Advantages/disadvatages?" Having a pistol to supress is reasonable, but I think that melee vs. ranged must be kept realistic.

I'm a gunner who had been melee and feel that I can sypathize w/ both sides to an extent, but more than anything I can sympathize with realistic elements and I think that more players will feel good about a fight or skills that obeys the basic physical rules and governing laws in the Star Wars Galaxy.

Haha.. this was funny. Someone coming to whine at others and not even know'n the facts.

On a side note, being a TKM & Master Brawler, I also have Pistoleer skills and access to Pistol Melee Defense1 & Suppression Fire, etc. I use both ranged tools and melee tools. In fact, I went Master Brawler (giving up Master Marksman in the process) just for Lunge2, which is now fairly useless.

If I use my ranged skills I find myself having to use them completely. That is, ranged KD or suppressing someone from a long range does nothing for a melee. By the time you reach them they are up and moving again, and with a 30 second timer (sadly the same is happening with Lunge2 now). So, you end up just shooting it out with someone you can't compete with because your skills in ranged are not as complete (as it should be). So, if we dedicate so many points to Master both a melee profession and Brawler, why should we not be affective in PvP once we get close to a target? (close should be defined as 15m I'd say)

We are supposed to be able to kill when we get in range, yet, we struggle to even achieve this. Thats all I'm asking for. That if I can get to you, I can beat on you. We cannot. The major problem causing this I think is the poor netcode they have for tracking players (I referenced a post by Raph earlier where he states you can have 12m of error indistance, link to orginalbelow). Guess what, all melee attacks (except lunge1/lunge2) have less distance then that.. so, if your moving away, melee never gets to hit. (except for the now defunct lunge1/lunge2)
