Thread: How to stop somebody from kiting us? Easy...
Ballem's idea is that a player with more than one skill set will always beat the player with only one skill set.
For example, a player that's trained in TKA and Pistol will most likely beat a player who has TKA and some other non-combat related skills trained.
I posted this in another thread, but I think it fits here as well.
I think the problem hereis the fact that a ranged user can turn around and fire somewhat accurately while running away from me,all whilenotwatching where they're going.
In PVE and PVP, if a ranged user is running awaywhile looking/shooting backwards, there should be a modifier that increases their chances of falling over; like dizzy, but with an animation that is more akin to tripping. This seems fairly common sense to me, and far easier to implement than adding expendable "ammo" all of a sudden and pissing off thousands of ranged users who'll complain about cost and economy and blah blah blah.
At least tripping is anacceptable addition; because if you don't want to trip and get mauled, then watch where you're running. Otherwise, make a stand and fight.
I agree with bayne 100%. I have been arguing for quite some time that there is nothing wrong with TKAs, but there is a LOT wrong with ranged professions. The fact that they can run at full and shoot backwards without HUGE inaccuracy is just ridiculous. I have posted on this at length, but no one really seems to notice, here it is again:

I have no problem getting mowed down by ranged opponents in an open field from a distance. That is just common sense! I DO have problems when terrain does absolutley nothing to help me!! I have problems when someone can shoot through a hill at me when i am trying to close in on them! I have problems when, after i do close in, they can just turn and kill me with a CDEF pistol when i am sporting 10K vibroknucklers! I have problems when I need just as much xp to get Master TK as they needed to get Master Pistoleer!
Again, TK doesnt need to be fixed to get rid of kiting. The ranged professions need to be slowed down or take huge accuracy penalties if they attempt to run and shoot at the same time. Please read the post above, I really think it will help all this nonsense without making TK more than it's supposed to be.
well sadly i have to admit that there is no way you can stop it as a pure TKA... but ummm you have SOOO many skill points left after Master TKA.
Sure you can spend those points on marksman... yeah i know i know....
Or you can take CH....... I cant say that ANYONE ive killed in PVP with my greater sludge pantherat my sidehas atempted to revenge hit me. Having a pet that runs faster than burst run will tend to turn many many people away from attacking you.... at least a 2nd time...
"because if you dont see it then you are blind"
If you are blind u cant see the screen to play the game dummy
You are correct in saying Tera Kasi need other skills to complement, just like any other skills.
However, the Supression Fire 1 is not a good solution. It is A solution but not a good one. You see, unless your terakasi takes up a ranged weapon as well as the ranged support to level4, you wont be hitting much.
Players that have gone the way of the gun have ranged defense much, much higher than your ranged offense modifiers... in short, if your tkasi shoots a gun at a rifleman or carbineer or pistoleer he will miss probably 6 out of 10 shots, and from those 6 shots, 4 will probably not supress the ranged players since he has much higher defense against that.
Just the same way the rifleman cant use unarmed lunge1 against your tkasi and expect it to drop you to your knees.
Other solutions which are not as good but are alternatives:
Tkasi/Doctor: Enchance yourself to 3k ham bars, heal yourself to full at will. Use a lev 13 pet that can cause a kneel situation (gurrcats do this usually) or a droid or faction pets.
Tkasi/CH: A Tkasi, a Greater Sludge Panther (or 2 or 3 if you go master CH)..its a beautiful thing.
Tkasi/Medic/CH : best of the 3 combos, heal yourself, use CH pets to anti-kite (GSP's can and will cause a kneeling attack plus they damage your target just as your target is damaging you... all you need to do is use your medic skills to keep yourself alive while your pets do the job).
Tkasi/Ranger : Simply put, you run faster ![]()

Thanks Charm. Its not entirely my point but very true. For example...people whine about commandos being overpowered and that they need to be nerfed. Well, there is nothing wrong with the commando profession, they should be packing that much damage after all the sacrificing skills they need to become one. Basically a commando cant take anything else but the skills necessary to get there one and that is a great disadvantage, so that is why the damage they do is well deserved. What is wrong is that defenses are not working at all and a commando can do full damage to someting with high resists like an AT-ST and kill it in 2 blows. Well there is nothing wrong about our profession...it needs tu be tuned a bit yes but we are a menace in PVE, and we sure can own in PVP but just not with only being a TKM. Put a TKM fighting another TKM with doctor skills. The first one will get owned everytime.I mean its your choice to go pure melee and just take master in that profession and get owned, but if you do so then dont whine you get your ass owned in pvp. I know everybody that wants to be kick ass in pvp is choosingmore than one master profession with other skills on the side.I mean there are ways to kill a kiter....like somebodywrote...he could send his pets after the guy...making him stand still and take the beating...then you close in and finish him off. Another way is to choose who you fighting and where. For example...if you are just pure melee TKM, the best way to kill in pvp fight iswhere there is abig battle...and you can go unnoticed and get close to anopponent and kill him. You could probably kill 2 or 3 before you go down...but hey...you are nojedi who can go into a battle meleeing and come alive killing everybody. Thats what Im trying to say...there are ways to stop a kiter. Trying to stop a kiter with just being a TKM is not going to help you. Now, if you had to spend as much skill points as a commando and master3 professions so that you cant choose any other skills to complement TKM, then I would agree totally that we would need somethingto stop kiters asap. But the truth is...that after mastering TKM you have lots of skill points to spend. If you want to kick ass in pvp thenspend itinskills that will help you in that goal. TKM as itis right now is immensely powerful....not so great in pvpjust with mastering that profession? Plz tell me of anothersingle profession who is?? NONE. If they give us all the tools in the TKA profession to become uber in pve as well as in pvp then everybody would become TKM...I mean why choosing any ranged profession if a TKM can catch them and deathblow them everytime they want...plus that we can kill most creatures solo?

Easy...use supression fire 1.
Duh!...Gee Look Ma! No Brains!
Of all the blatently DUMB things to say - We're TK/Unarmed for a REASON! We don't carry a gun! Nor, do we want to - Perhaps you should hand over all your Unarmed skills, and stay with the gun.
1.) Your tree does not give you the right to stand toe to toe with any other class. Each class is diffrent.
Actually, it does. Blasters suck at point blank range - or didn't you know that?
