Thread: OT: Star Wars EpIII Revenge of the Sith (some spoilers inside)
Note that there will be spoilers turning up now & then in this thread, if you havn't seen it yet, you might wanna stay away.
So I got to see it yesterday afternoon & I loved it. Was a bit rocky to start with (too much comic relife) but it turned out great.
The fight scenes were great, & the saber fights were yet again even better then before. & the Windu vs Palpatine fight, well just great in my opinion. The Jedi deaths, some seemed a bit too efortless, especialy the Twi'lek (Aayla Secura?) & Ki-Adi-Mundi (the Jedi Master with the big head). But the whole idea of this order (66) already been known to the clones & just waiting to be called up was great. Windu easily got the best death.
I have to admit, that from the point of Anakin been confronted with the decision on whether to help Palpatine or let Windu finish him I couldn't help but wonder what would have happened if Anakin had let Windu kill him.
The little links to the other fims were great, stuff like giving the droids to 'Captain Antilles' & of course Owen & Beru (with baby Luke) watching the twin suns set, & of course the Tantive IV (the Correllian Corvette).
Personly I can't wait to go see it again. So what did the rest of you think?
I agree the film was fantastic. What really burns me is how people are trying to frame Lucas as being political because of the film. This is a story that I have personally known for at least 10 years. Sure it was without the details the movie offered but the story in general was set in stone way before Bush.
I really thought Lucas finally captured some emotion again. Me and my girlfriend both said we found ourselves rooting for Anakin to do the right thing even though we KNOW he doesn't. I do agree the extermination of the Jedi was pretty effortless, but then again I think it really would have been effortless the way it was done. I personally would have liked to see Vader killa couple Jedi himself but what are you going to do.
The last scene with Owen overlooking the twin sunset in the same outfit and position as Luke did in ANH was a great touch.
But there was one glaring flaw in the move....
JAR JAR BINKS DIDN'T FREAKING DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know, I was doing the same thing. Couldn't help myself.
A lot of people are bashing Anakin's dialogue and the speed at which he turns to the dark side, but I really thought it was well done and well handled. Palpatine was working on him from the beginning of the movie and steered him right into it.
I got goose bumps many times in this movie.
I'm going back to see it tonight with my wife, and I can hardly wait.
I fully enjoyed the movie.
I think they made Yoda the best in this movie. His emotions, his action, and his bad @ss attitude made it for me. Loved it when he walked in with tete a tete with Palpatine, and dropped the Red Guard at the door with just a nod.
Loved Anakin's first breath as Vader wearing the Black.
Obi-wan leaving Anakin to burn in the lava. Lookingback at that, if he did what he was supposed to, kill him, Alderan might have been saved? Perhaps not.
I think at some points when Palpatine was going "dag-nasty-evil" his voice over started sounding like Ozzy doing Iron Man. A lil over the top.
Regarding Jar-Jar... Lucas toned him down to one scene at least. I think he got the message from his fan base.
It tied it up in a neat little bow for me... that is what I liked best. It all works.
I loved the movie - some of the dialog was aweful, but the story was good, the characters were good, and the action was awesome. I think many of the story lines and back stories were resolved.
I have to admit, that from the point of Anakin been confronted with the decision on whether to help Palpatine or let Windu finish him I couldn't help but wonder what would have happened if Anakin had let Windu kill him.
However, I did think it was strange that Windu said "I am going to arrest you" to Palpatine about 500 times, then when Anakin walks in he just goes "nope - too dangerous" and decides to kill him. Didn't seem to me like that would be in Windu's (or a Jedi's) character.
I loved it. I usually like films that have happy endings, but this one really couldn't...but awesome movie. My hubby thinks Grievous was Darth Maul because of the eyes. And a friend of mine found 2 inconsistencies with the original 3, but it definitely lived up to my expectations.
P.S. I kept wondering what would have happened if Anakin helped Windu too. ![]()
