Thread: Innate Armor vs. Actual Armor Discussion

I'm a TKM / Master Swords and was wondering if anyone knew if I should use my innate armor (nothing) or if it would be more effective to wear some battle armor (most likely padded).
Do you guys know how the defences stack up next to each other? Please let me know..

Well, lets get this rolliing.
The main reason i took TKM was for the saving in not having to wear armor. It is my understanding that the innate armor is 6000points at TKM. Normal battle armor doesnt seem to get that high. However, some AS think they will soon enough. If that is the case, TKM innate armor wont be so hot.
I also understand RIS can get even higher than 6000 points. If thats true, armor is better.
Also, there are "feathers" you can put in your armor to add to your HEALTH.
All this leads me to believe armor will be better. I would still take the med line for powerboost and that other branch for the Improved CoB (unless others get that too???)
Anyway, thats a start.

Well, im a TKA and a master carbineer, will this innate armor help me when im holding a ranged weapon or is it just when im fighting melee? Also what are the protections of this innate armor? I have battle armor that works well against kinetic and energy, but does innate armor have drawbacks agiast energy?

TKA Innate Armor (TIA) works with any weapon, just not with armor, but stacks with a PSG.

i usualy use CoB with my innate armour which gives another +4000. so i wear a 10000 armour without wearing any crafted armourpart. there might be better armour available soon (say 7000) - so with CoB u might get 11000. but this wont help, as its highly degressive damage reduction in this area (10000 is around 60% and even 11000 wont add much to this).
with the very high decay rates for armour i experience with my other templates, i guess even RIS armour will be wasted very soon (if not protected by ADKs) especially with a melee template.

You take little to no dmg when you have TKM with no armor on, with powerboost,cob,and a pixie. Works like a charm 
(for me I seem to take alot less dmg WITHOUT reg. armor on)

CoB: Center of being, Melee skill, adds 500 to your defenses with the Improved version from TKA. Lasts about 35 seconds.
PSG: Personal Shield Generator. Offers about 2000 armor vs. ranged energy attacks (the better PSGs), takes the belt slot, and stacks with all other armor.

I heard the max value for armor is 10000 so if you hit that then your golden.
But I have heard many things, wish I could validate it.

I've been experimenting with combining Master TKA with Master Pikeman an with Master Swords. I found that if I have a powerhammer equiped, that TKA inate armor does NOT work. Everytime I'm hit, there's no absorbtion. However, when I have an NS lance (Pikeman) equiped, the inate armor is working. Is this a bug?

Sounds like a bug, yeah, I'd submit a ticket. I'm Master Swords/TKM and I run around with my PH all the time, and no armor, getting hit for less than compadres in full armor are receiving.

LOL!!!
I was TKM, MBrawler and MSwords and respeced out of it cause I was getting HAMMERED by lowe lvl ranged players. I was using CoB too. If this PH bug is true that explains alot.
