Hey guys, this kinda pertains to all profressions but since I'm working at TKA and TKA does have a lot of defenses I'm just wondering extactly when defenses cap. I hear all the defenses like stun/posture change/knock down/ blind cap at 125. I also heard that ranged and melee defense cap at 125. Does that mean that all defenses cap at 125, and do SEAs add on to that or will they stop at the cap also.
I also hear speed is capped at 100 regardless of profression, and no matter how fast your weapon or what specials you are using, if you have 100 speed you hit every second. Is this true, and if not, what is?
I am currently un-aware of any caps for accuracy, and am wondering if there is.
If you are wondering why I'm asking this, it's because I'm trying to cap as many defenses as possible and will end up using some force sensitive skills, but I want to do this in the least amount of skill points so any help would be appreciated. If you have any help with my template here is what I plan on it being.
Master Brawler
Master Swordsman
Master Fencer
TKA 4/1/0/4
FS Combat Prowess 0/0/4/4
Again, any help would be appreciated, thanks.

ok at the time being I understand that everything caps at 125 so you are correct ... the only thing which i thought is that say u had ranged def at 110 u had a skill tape which was +20 it would still be capped at 125 the only way to actually get passed 125 is food ....so to my understanding food doesnt get affected by caps but skill tapes do , but i have heard that your damage never caps out
I could be wrong but this is just my answer

Is it true that skill tapes just help you reach the cap? I was under the understanding that the defense cap was 125 but you could get another +25 with skilltapes.

I heard that the boost from a squad leader can take you beyond the cap. I learned this because I got into a group lead by a squad leader and i noticed a clear improvement. I currently have 149 melee defence only 125 of which are being used. When group with a squad leader i was getting hit much less, taken on groups of high level mobs without ever needing to heal. I could be crazy, but i did noticed a difference, if anyone else knows anything about this to help confirm please chime in.

The formula for speed is a linear system, so once you reach +100 you reach teh speed cap of being able to attack at a rate of once per second. The modifier itself is not capped, but merely the associated action. It does mean that anything over +100 does not benefit you however.

Yeah, every point you get in a speed bonus translates to a % of speed reduced. +30 speed means 30% reduced, and of course +100 speed means a 100% reduction. Most weapons will cap out their speed even before you hit +100 speed.
The +125 cap applies to 5 skills... Melee Defense, Ranged Defense, Dodge, Counterattack, and Block. Actually, in theory Defense Acuity is probably also capped at +125 but that's a moot point because it's impossible to raise it past +96 (only TKA has it, so you can't stack it with another profession to make it higher). I don't think Defense Acuity tapes exist, but even if they did with the +25 limit on skill tptapes the most you could raise it to would be +121.
The squad leader question is a good one, because technically what squad leaders have is called "Group Melee Defense" and "Group Ranged Defense". They may count as completely seperate skill bonuses than the normal defenses because their names are different. In that case they wouldn't really be "stacking", and wouldn't be counted with the cap. That's just speculation on my part though.

Thus far DA Tapes do not exist (or else someone would have looted one by now I am certain).
My guess on the Squad Leader is just that (treated as seperate mods) but I plan to ask for clarification.

*EDIT* Grrr, browser hiccupped.
The caps are hard caps, which means you can reach them through the use of tapes or adding skills, but not exceeding them.

Good to know. Now can anyone list the caps? Can't be 125 for everything can it?

Does anyone know what the caps are for defenses like def. vs. posture change or def. vs. dizzy or stun or whatever the case may be. Do those cap at 125 as do dodge, counter-attack, block, melee defense, and ranged defense. I would assume they do but a definet answer would be best. Also, when you hit ctrl + s, does it say you only have 125 melee defense if you actually have 174, or will it say you have 174 but you can only use 125 of it?
