I am a master Pistoleer/Bh 0040. When I see Tkm fighting they are owning everything they touch. Are they really that much stronger than a pistoleer, or am i going crazy. If they are i might go with a TKM/Commando setup.

Alot of that is because of the speed/damage ratio we TKM's get IMO. Ask those TKM's what their secondary master or skill set is and there gonna tell you its either pistoleer, fencer, or some other profession that offers a ton of defences. I am a TKM/Master Pistoleer myself and my defensive mods are naturally high with +50 - +80 for stun, KD, and dizzy states. Then you also have melee defence +105 and ranged defence +52 (which can be bumped up with some good CA's/AA's) and dodge at +105.

Any melee prof that is buffed and armored will own anything it touches if the resists and AP permit them to get in any damage.
TK is the profession that goes well with everything. TK/Doc, TK/Pistols, TK/Rifleman, TK/fencer, TK/swordsman, TK/commando. All are popular combos.

I was a Master Pistoleer/Master Marksman as well with xx2x BH and I too couldn't believe how lame I was in comparison to friends who were TKM's....I realised I had max pistol xp (900k) so I got Brawler Unarmed IV and got smuggler. I then used up all my pistol xp for Underworld I-4 and Dirty Fighting 1 (easy to grind the rest with Pistoleer) and just made master Smuggler in 3 days. Now I just have to make Novice TK and I am away...but I will be keeping enough pistol skills to give me an added bonus against states like dizzy. I also got 44xx medic to help me solo big creatures klike Krayts....
I will say this...use a character builder and spend the time looking at the different skills and see what is worth keeping and getting rid of. Think about what you will be doing with your char and how he will eb used if used withina guild/group. My char should be a good tank with the added strength against states and the medic skills plus smuggler gives me a source of income and feigning death cannot be overestimated in its usefulness!!!

I remeber thinking the same thing as a pistoler a long time ago, but you gotta understand a pistoler gets good later then a TKA will, it is just as is, you as a MP/MBH vs a TKM will pretty much always win, you just gotta not compare a master to a non

Your DE-10 with powreup will smoke a TKM if you keep your distance we have no ranged midigation. remember dont follow Melee into buildings or any other small areas you will get a beat down. TKM/Master Pistol is a very strong combo gives both. ranged and melee midigation3 and a host of other stackable stats and leaves you with sp for medic.

As usual questions like this are not answerable with a clear "yes" or "no".
There are things in PvE which I can kill faster / better with tkm as with pistols (my master smuggler / master pistoleer / teras kasi master is speedcapped with SEA's, you are speedcapped with pistols based on your skillboxes so different playerspeedmods make no difference here), others which I can kill faster with pistols (and some I can't even scratch with tkm).
In PvP it also depends on the enemy. Vs. most "regular" players (buffed, high-resist armor etc) I usually only use the TKA skills for dizzy/kd/etc, to deal damage I use pistols (605 max damage geoblaster when using a powerup on it). When going vs a Jedi this ofc changes rapidly, ranged is almost useless vs. them so I use tka there exclusively.
If your forum registration date can tell me even a bit about the time you play the game I suggest: don't drop professions because you do not instantly "pwn" with them, give it time, learn to use your right specials at the right time (experience), chances are that you also won't be as strong as an experienced player in the next prof you jump to, simply because you lack the experience with that profession too :-).
Btw.: Unlike popular believe TKA is *not* the ultimate profession that is best at everything, TKA is a decent profession with good qualities overall but not uber in any aspect of the game, other professions have one aspect they are very good in and other where they just stink, my swordsman for example is A LOT better for PvE than my two TKM's but mostly useless in any kind of PvP situation etc pp :-).

How about a little bit of both? Or a nice medley of professions?
My current Template is rather spread out.
Here it is:
Teras Kasi Artist : 0004
Commando: 0000 (novice)
Bounty Hunter: 3040
Pistoleer: 0044 (speed, techniques)
Smuggler: 0040
With this template, and some BE clothing I have 112 Melee Defense when I wear my armor, 116 with just clothing (+4 MD Spec-Ops Duster).
I have the Bounty Pistols Line, Investigation 3 to hunt Jedi, Smuggler Dirty Fighting for Panic Shot, Low Blow and Last Ditch, and I can use A geonosian blaster, and have the +50 Defense vs KD and +40 against Dizzy from Pistoleer. If i need to before a duel i can also take off my pistol and do a /center for the added defense, and it lasts at least 20 seconds into the duel for a nice start.
I took the Novice Commando so I can use a Launcher Pistol when in PVP/PVE base combat for taking down turrets.
I've never lost to a TKM. Although I do have a nice 510 Max Geo (/w Pup), and that with Last ditch, without stun protection or intimidate/stun landed hits for about 1200 Damage.
So... its all up to you. I chose to not have any master elite professions and instead take up 5 of them.

Not a clue pvp-wise, but tkm/commando for me was a fun time, however a bit lacking in the states. I think tkm/pistoleer would be a better choice for pve - i have tkm/pistol xx4x because the bane of tka is getting dizzied/posture change/knockdown (ie; tasting our own medicine) and those pistol state def's of yours really help to combat this (and the bleeds I find useful also).
However, the real downside of tkm (especially purists) is when you come up against a/many mobs with high kinetic resists, which includes quite a lot of high-end mobs. Pistol or commando would help here, but pistol to me would be the logical choice due to defenses (and the fact you already have it) ![]()

I posed a question about not having a Elite Master Proff b4, and Im curious as to how well u do against Jedi and PvP in general.. The template i was considering was similar to yours with really high defences. I really wanted to try it but i the general opinion of the responces i got were dont do it
