The answer to you question is yes at this moment TKM is definitely better then pistoleer without TKM. If you combine the two the defenses are pretty nice and you have ranged abilities that we don't have without a range defense. The pistoleers defenses are probably arguably the best in the ranged elite professions because he has to get so much closer technically, although they seem to do pretty nicely at 62m still, but will never do the damage a rifleman can do at that range. TKM/M Commando is also a very nice choice for many of the varied types of damage and large damage even at close range, and is the only player who can use any nades effectively.
