This is a good example of how false cause can happen hehe. Some might say -- wow the servers seemed a lot less crowded the last half of last ween and through the weekend, it must be because SOE is runing the game and people are quitting left and right! (not saying you were saying that personally)

Or, it could be that the entire eastern seaboard and parts of Canada were in total blackout for two full days and parts of the weekend ? Makes it hard to keep those population numbers up.

I can tell you that in terms of our rather large PA on the server, our numbers have done little but go up, not decline. And syclla is far, far more crowded today than it was a month ago.

you have one side that says the game is doing well. Holocron says they have 1/2 million subscibers......

The other side says that the servers are empty and their friends list are gone.

I tend to side with the second option, as my f-list is empty and Gorath has much much less people. The dEVS act like everything is just peachy and that people are happy and playing the game, and all MMORPG forums are full of bitching.

Yes , on some of those forums you have the occasional negative post, but I have never seen this much negativity since AC2. I feel like the devs totally ignore the problems and see the obvious.

Game retailers are telling people to not buy this game, due to the massive returns on them, and 95% of SWG reviews are negative no buys. With the higher scores running around 75%. The game magazines are saying the exact same thing about the problems that we players are. But I guess Pc gamer and others are just whiners too.

I just cannot see resubscribing my account. I have already lost almost 2 weeks play since the infamous patch, but according to the devs there everything is fine and numbers are up.

I don;t really know what to believe, but I just no I am unhappy and I have a bad taste in my mouth.

I have more fun on the forums than I do playing

This is what I see. I have 30 people on my friends list. 2 - 3 week ago about 15 or more where online when I'm on, last 2 weeks maybe 3 or 4 of them are online, and it's not the power outage.

Well, I don't know what to tell you. My friend list is full, my PA is full, and all my real life friends are not only still playing, but saying that compared to what they used to be playing "DAOC" this game is the best thing since pie. I won't go as far as to say its that good, but it is much better than the game I used to be playing.

I actually haven't had a single person post on our PA forums saying they were quiting the game because of the patch, nor had any friend in game say goodbye. Maybe I just got lucky and got on a better server? Or mabye I just have shallow easy to please friends hehehe.

You know I was thinking about it today and I realized this: I am not a "fanboi" in the sense that I do believe SOE made many mistakes and consquently delivered a game to market that was not ready, and I do believe there are currently critical issues that should have been resolved long ago, and I further believe it will be a good six months before the same settles out, and I think that's a shame (oh yeah, and I do know that SOE's customer relations and attitude to customer service sucks).

But, I am a "fanboi" in this one single way: this game is far, far, far, far better than anything that came before it, despite all its problems. I was so relieved to find this game and say goodbye to DAoC, after having dumped AO, and left Eve Online in beta, and despised Earth and Beyond retial, and watching AC2 go down the toilet through beta and into retail -- I've played most of the major MMOs. Nothing came close to the options and possibilities in this game. For that reason and that reason alone, I am willing to give them a chance.

But, if someone comes along that provides all of the options SWG provide and does so with half the grief, bugs and nerfing -- I'll instantly jump ship. It's just so far nothing is doing that, even the upcoming WoW which has very little in the way of gameplay diversity or options, at least in what has been so far announced.

I can't give myself enough reason to log in. At least I cancelled so I won't have to spend money while they are thinking about maybe fixing it.

I KNOW! They all left thier servers to join Sel's PA

Actually I did notice this same loss of people in the areas I play in. I ASSumed they went off to either better or higher level places.

Ahazi is getting more populated. Seems to be running smoother too.

Started a new character on another server on Sunday and noticed that 13 had light population, two were heavy and the rest 6-7 ? were medium. This is a new game and a Sunday afternoon, prime playing time for many, should be alot more people in the game.People are still buying the game also.

Ahazi was a reccomended choice for a server at the top of the list but old character was from there so started on newer server. Was listed alphabetically so thats why it was first on list but reason it was reccomended is because of lower population I believe. Ahazi was a beta server and many betatesters recreated their old characters there.

People may not be canceling their accounts but I'm sure that alot aren't playing as often, because I know I'm playing 2/3 as much timewise. Spending more time reading these boards then being ingame lately.

Is it just me or are other people beginning to think that Selwynn either works for SOE or someone in her familiy works on the SWG Project...

She is much to Pro SOE Pro SWG...

and if your not your a blind sheep...

Selwynn = Covert SOE CSR Propoganda Specialist

for the record

EQ/AO/DAOC are far superior products in content, balance, CSR/Dev communication, and just plain fun....Only problem for me is after a few years ive already worn them all out of content and levels and items... I came to SWG looking for the next great MMROPG I could play for years.... now its looking more like leaving to EQ2 the sec I get my beta invite and never looking back...

This game was going to be wonderful... but all it does is get futher and further down the tubes each passing day...

We have old fixed bugs resurfacing with new patches... we have massive unbalacing nerfs across board... ruining balance in at least5 professions now.

My freinds list on 2 differnt servers is now empty in prime time...

People are moving on... with the leaked beta of Lineage2 sweeping rave reveiws in... being made by Raph's old boss Lord British its fixen to be Game on.....

Ive also recived my invite to Horizons beta... giving me even less incentive to play SWG....

Guess what Sony.. WOW, Lineage2, Horizons, New DAOC and EQ expansions and EQ2 are coming soon.... you dont have to have to be a Fortune teller to see SWGs future if you dont start REALLY Balancing.. and stop nerfing...

I agree with bountyhunter on this issue quite a bit.

I came to this game, after waiting for years, ever since I even heard about it. I got the game on the day it came out, as soon as my local retailer opened. I started the game, and man was it fun. I enjoyed every minute of it...even though server stability wasn't the best. Shortly later, my charcter gets deleted for some...weird reason. No problem though, I already made a new character, and continued on. I went into a lot of various fields and enjoyed everything until the first beginning nerfs aimed at weaponsmiths and other artistians. I gave up weaponsmith because of it.

I start moving into scout and creature handler. I tame my own creatures, and all my own creatures. I never bought one creature, nor did I use my creatures for lame things such as attacking other factions and acting like a walking army. My creatures were my pets....now nerfed where I could no longer control them. The only way I could control both of them again, is to come darn close to mastering creature handler. I wasn't very happy about that situation. I decide to keep trying with combat, to find that my weapon decay seems much faster now...but that's fine too, I had 2 crates of DH17 carbines that I knew I would need because of nerfs.

I say 'to heck with this', delete my whole character and start out fresh...feeling 'maybe I can do ok'. I start out as a brawler, and begin fighting anything I can see. Half the time I'm dead, even though I'm expert unarmed. I figure it's not a bad thing, I shouldn't be able to take on much at my state - but when I try to do special moves, and half of them fail and cost me tons of HAM on each one...i'm left to wonder if my brawler skills will get better when I hit TKA.

So far from what I've been seeing is that just about everything that matters to the players is being taken away. I'm grinding fast and hard to try to get to TK, but if it's still bad then I dont' know exactly what I will do. I paid 3 months on my subscription...and will give it 3 months before making my decision. I've been looking forward to this game for a very very long time, and at first it really met my expectations. The game was fun, people were fun, and many people from SOE were helpful. When I lost my house (one of the first to get a house), I got it replaced by SOE. My friend lost his medium house, tons of materials, parts, and other necessary items...and never heard back from SOE. The quality of help we are getting from ingame, to development is decreasing fast. I'm not exactly sure why this game is turning out exactly like Jedi Outcast. When people complained in Jedi Outcast, saying that one move was too 'lame', the immediate thing to do is nerf it until every move was about the same, and there was no strategy left. I have a feeling that this game will end up the same way...although I hope it doesn't, I really hope. this is my first MMORPG, and i'm not too impressed with the quality so far.

This post wasn't meant as a flame or anything else, just feelings about the current progress. People keep telling me to be patient...at least people who are still around. I'm very patient when it comes to see how the end result will happen, but since the game has come out, I see little progress that I could call worthwhile. Also I should note that I've seen the same decrease as everyone else is saying. Few people on my list haven't come back for a very very long time, I just keep deleting people off when I finally come to the realization that they quit.
