LOL! What?
Im not a roleplayer... I do not like wasting my time in cantinas nor do i look for image designers for a new haircut unless SWG resets me as it has in the past...
I am a power type player.. I have played every single MMORPG in the last 10 years starting at M59 till now...
I prefer the games with prestige levels, andItems (glowy dragon weps and epics rock)that set me apart from the average Joe...
I prefer a game that rewards high level player instead of Punishing them as SWG does...
The content in this game is non existant... there is nothing but missions and random mobs in the game so far....
DOAC and EQ had enough content to keep its powergamers furfilled for 6 months at max level so they could take thier time on adding new content quests and balancing classes...
I spent a lot of time and personal political capital trying to get a group of about 30to trySWG. It wasn't easy, because a fair number of them were having fun playing EQ. Well, I got them all to try it. In the first month 5 of them cancelled their accounts. I now have 5-6 others that are lapsing, as in haven't logged on in a couple of weeks. Now all the players whose professions are seriously broken (DE's, BE's, Commandos, Merchants, Rangers, TKA's, all the other melees) are extremely frustrated and talking about bailing. It's all I can do to get people to show up once a week to do a group hunt. It's not even anger that is the main problem, it's boredom: people just don't want to log on. I fully expect to have lost a third of my PA in the next week. If that's happening across all servers, that's scary.
I see less folks myself.
I hope the devs are aware IT/IS is a tough field.
If they think people are going to pay, deal with crashes and bugs galore and deal with them ruining classes they are living in the days of early EQ.
Those days are gone. We pay and they treat us lousy, and we deal with bugs and weak content.
Enjoy those salaries![]()
WTG!!!! keep up the nerfs!!!
I think what disturbes me the most about Selwynn is her calm deamoner and then she flies off the handle (her comment to the devs) and RANTS and RAVES how she hates SOE. How ( my favorite) Q-3p0 is a F***ing moron. Then i come here to read about my profession and see her so calmly defending SOE again.
You honestly scare the hell out of me Selwynn
Seems to be less people. And i think SOE and the devs are telling you their EQ. Planetside Subscribers. Not just galaxies.
Soon sony can no longer rest on their laurels. Which they bought from Verant.... Which reminds me who said EQ is going to give SONY a run for their money
uh.. EQ is owned by SONY now... (shakes head)
Selwynn go look at horzions www.istaria.com you may like what you find. And i am still waiting on my Beta test accpetance... (it may never come I can deal with that. I'll just grind away xp on Dantoonie or paint i should really paint ... i digress)
SOE is about to be removed from the internet gameing industry. They will remain but no longer as a power house.
And who decided to hire on the UO dev crew????
I haven't been to the lucas arts site. But i have been wanting to post about how much of a disappointment this game is. Bioware should have done this game. The content in Knights of the old republic is down right awesome (my spouse won't stop playing it so i can... booo)
..sigh... This game was going to be so cool.. but it dies wimpering with every nerf... everyday...
I have absolutely clue what you mean. I read your post 2-3 times, and what I got out of it is that 'you are happy about the change, and that we are happy about it deep down..even though we don't know it'
With that, I want to respond that deep down I do not feel that the current changes were good for the game. From what I've seen, many people here are thinking the same thing. I'm not one for jumping on 'bandwagons', but I feel - deep down to the heart - that these patches so far didn't help the game significantly. The only good thing that so far came out of any of the patches was the crafting practice (probably so they don't have to update their databases with the current serial number..probably makes life much easier for their servers, which is probably why that option was even implemented).
Good.
And the fact remains, that little rant of mine, all though inappropriate, only serves to underscore the fact that I don't have any deep love for SOE.

I will do that.

We'll see - I'm not ready to call that until we've hit the six month marks. Frankly, I find all speculations for or against the success of SWG to be premature. A lot of it depends on how succesful the competition is at challenging SWG. And any specualation on that before the fact had a larger probability for error.

She is much to Pro SOE Pro SWG...
and if your not your a blind sheep..."
Explain to me how you come to this conclusion. After I said, I DO think SOE wrongly let this game release way too early. After I said, I do think that this game has a lot of bugs and problems that should have been caught in advance. After I said that I do think that TKs in particular are in need of adjustments. After I said that SOEs customer service sucks.
The only thing I said was that I felt this game was far better than anything I've played previously. I didn't say it was god's gift to gaming, or even great. I just said I though it wsa better than what I had played. That seems to make me more a fan of SWG than a fan of SOE. Explain to me how you see it differently ?
Honestly, I literally can't comprehend how someone could think DAoC or AO was a better game. I mean, I accept that you do, that's your right of course. But I can't see it - no matter how hard I try I can't see it. It wasn't that DAoC was great for a year and then got stale. DAoC was never great for me. The only thing that kept me in the game that long was a) lack of alternatives and b) real life friends, where the community element was the sole source of fun for me - the game itself was unbearably tedious and devoid of significant options.
The only think I can figure is that most of you are the min/maxer types and never cared at all about things like more character customization options, both in your initial character creation and later in the game via all kinds of clothing, which I love, image design, etc. I suppose many of you don't care much or at all about a crafting system that makes DAoC's version of "crafting" look like the complete at utter misery it was. I imagine not many of you enjoy the entertainers.
I spent the first month getting up to novice dancer and novice musican on the side, and for a while I thought for sure I was going to be a TKM, and a Master Musician and a Master Entertainer -- that entire side of the game is something that was never availible in DAoC, nor wear there livability options like clothes, design, player cities, a detailed housing system, etc. Being able to own your own vendors is anothing wonderful thing, and I love the way the game deals with resource gathering as part of the crafting structure. The game is also gorgeous in a way no previous game as been. And you can FISH! And there are fireworks! That was one of the coolest things I saw in my first week.
I could go on and on but that is a side of the game that no other game out there is delivering on - but I think the difference is that most of you don't care about much of any of that. And that's ok, that's your right as well. But those things matter to me a lot. Being able to be "uber" in battle is about 1/10 of all the things I want to be able to do in a game. DAoC had literally nothing on the livability front. And what other games had seemed to pale in comparison.
Anyway, I guess we just care about different things. I fail to see why my opinon, stated thusly, is any less valid than yours or anyone elses.
Can we at least agree that Earth and Beyond totally sucked??

You're right, it's gonna be a bit of a wait to see what else comes up - but to be honest, I can't imagine much having as many problems as this game currently has. Maybe it's a hope for the best, i don't know. I'm a newbie to the MMORPG arena, I know that already. i'm not going to pretend that I know a bunch when I really don't. I have been playing games though, including many RPGs for many many years, and that experience is how I come to my conclusions.
*shrug* though, I know what you mean about waiting though. I am for 3 months yet, but hopefully it works out, not sure if it will or not...I hope it does though, I really hope it does.
