Hey, Ive been looking at that Powerboost move awfully hard of late and admit Im tempted to dump master pistoleer and go for it. Seems to me a nice way to use some points in secondaries and mind then powerboost to make up for the losses. I cant afford the 44 skill points to reach Powerboost without sacrificing pistoleer or CH. I'm not sure however if I can adjust to losing my bleed shots and being able to gun down an opponent while they try and run away (very annoying trying to chase down a kliknik tonight only to have him lead me into a nest of giant crystal snakes)
So I guess my question is this, who would fair better master pistoleer or tkm say against a singing clan witch, Rancor, Gurreck Hunter, etc and any other nasty beast I can think of. I mostly hunt, the only npc's I fight are singing clan witches or Mercenaries on Lok. As a Master pistoleer I can handle all of things here using good strategy (barely able to handle singing clan) and being buffed and a tank for a pet. I enjoy solo play and therefore want the best combat profession possible and would imagine a tkm with master ch combo would be pretty lethal.

I'mnot so sure after just reading some post here. One guy under post "tka isnt as good as everyone thinks" says he has to think twice before taking on an enraged rancor as a tkm. I use a pet (maybe he didnt) but have no problems with them whatsoever as a master pistoleer. I can spam stopping shot and put down that rancor in a few minutes easily.

if it were possible to fight this many at once, i could kill at least 50 enraged rancors as tkm
before you jump to conclusions, thats with buffs food and armor, if i were to fight without buffs i would loose to a gorg(not really) with myn stats(buff dependant)

Well I guess Im going for it then. Just wish the grind to tka novice wasnt so bad, argh. I spent about 30 minutes on Yavin hunting and got 15k xp and extremely bored of it. At least Ihave a ton of combat xp, enough to get up to level 2 (halfway to 3) soon as I make novice.

Well armored and buffed, I might vote pistoleer. Against certain mobs including bull/enraged rancors tka is better. But npc's are a bit trickier cause medium armor and 100% kinetic.. With pistols you have several damage types to choose from. Dunno, I like my tka and just avoid those nasty resist mobs if im solo.

One big advantage the melee classes have is all of them share Warcry, which is a delay move. Most of the gun classes don't have a delay move (exception being Smugglers with Panic Shot). This of course means that once you KD something somehow, stacking a WC on top of it makes the KD last longer, something you can't do with pure pistoleer. If you're Pistoleer/Smuggler, however, you can rock with ranged or melee KD and then Panic Shot to delay them getting back up.
Just an observation. I don't think there's a "right" answer to your decisions about which to choose, it's all about how YOU want to play and have fun playing. If you can take down what you think others can take down, who cares if you think they do it in 2-3 hits less *shrugs*. Or if you do it in 2-3 hits less. End result is the same - dead rancor.
