I know a lot of us in here have studied various martial arts, I think it would be interesting to see the various Martial Arts we have represented in the teras Kasi forums...

A rule: please don't turn this into a "my art is better than yours." We all have different tastes, opinions, and thoughts. Please respect everyone elses' and what they have studied.

that being said.... I'll kick it off..

The first art I ever studied was Freestyle Tae-Kwon Do, it was like regular TKD at it's core, but it also incorporated joint manipulation, grappling, weapons, groundfighting, and body conditioning. The highest rank I achieved was Red belt, 2 from Black in that system.

When i moved here to New Orleans 2 years ago, I found a very large and growing Judo population so I joined in, and I'm pretty good if I say so myself, lol. Not to mention that Judo (Kodokan Style) is good for my body type.....to be politically incorrect for a moment... I'm a short fat black guy with a lot more strength than flexibility, lol.

That's it for me, how about the rest of you?

The first art I studied (and hold a belt in)is an older variation of Ju-Jitsu called Jukado.

I then studied (limitedly) Shotokan Karate, but not in any official capacity (basically I sparred and learned pointers from friends).

I currently hold a belt in Tae Kwon Do, and am planning to continue it as long as I am able (looking towards Assistant Instructor in a local dojang at the least). We technically learn two variations, however, Traditional and "Freestyle" (as TravonLepan named it).

No longer holding out hope, SWG will never be the game we fought so hard for, that we believed so much in. Farewell friends.

glad to see more peeps into martial arts.

my story is a little sad...i kinda fell in love with Capoeira from the way it looked from an old tekken game, it gave me the inspiration to take it up.

I've now been doing it for nearly 5 years and have attained G raduado and assist my Mestre in training, and will soon be able to do some teaching myself on my next belt .

Akido and i still currently study it. 16 years now, I cant really say what belt I use, well I usually where a brown leather belt, only with jeans. A belt for martial arts is a american thing, to be a true master it takes a person his/her whole life to do. just this once. Anyway, Im in no way degrigating anyone's martial arts, just implying, belts can be misleading to those who study martial arts.

Kung-Fu and Judo. 2 years or so on Kung-Fu and about a month on Judo. The place closed down before I could do much in Judo. 2nd belt in Kung-Fu.

Wushu (means Martial Arts in chinese) it was the original form of martial arts in china. Many other martial arts have branched off it, but if you want a mixer of all of them wushu is for you.
