Thread: No direction

SOE has shown that it has no direction with their SWG product. I dont doubt that SOE has a direction when swords, magic and dragons are involved but when it comes to swords, teras kasi and blasters you might as well forget it because its almost been 5 days now and we really have not heard much of anythingfrom an SOE rep or dev and when we do hear something from an SOE rep they talk to us in riddles so we have to figure out what the SOE reps and devs mean!

This game is totally bogus!

I love it how the same thing that has been said in 1,000 threads in the last week really needed just one more thread to really drive the point home.

People get pissed at me because I self-righteously post here (its not in quotes, it is self-righteous), and I post often with my unpopular pragmatism, but this is exactly why I do so. The only thing that is "totally useless" around here are idiots who feel the best way to encourage a problem to be fixed is to grossly and wrecklessly overexagerate the state of everything every single chance possible.

People who decided - who make a deliberate choice -- to have fun and be viable anyway, even while continuing to support real changes being made to the class are in fact having fun and being viable. And I'll stop posting that fact as soon as posts like this stop. Until then, we're going to be neighbors.

I'm sorry Selwynn, but it seems you are among four people thatare still"viable" (that's in quotes because I doubt the extent of youeffectiveness) people have every right to complain about their product, as you well know. It may not make these boards anymorefocused, but on the off-chance a dev comes in here they willat least know the reality of our situation.Though that chance is small and for a dev to actually do anything about it is even smaller. So please, we all know you view and are happy for you, but the vast majority of us have a feeling of abandonment (and rightly so IMO).

I play the same game you play, as do the "three" other "viable" people. People have every right to complain. But our changes of getting real and meaningful changes made to this class go UP when those complaints are serious and not over exaggerated:

Player: TK is utterly unplayable and I can even fight a blue!

Developer: you're full of **edit**, that's not even a legimate complaint. Next!

OR

Player: I can be effective in these ways, but I am ineffective in these ways, these changes hurt the class in the following x ways, and while there are the following x workarounds to that, I feel like this puts us at an unfair disadvantage, etc. etc. -- AND I support my opinions with the following nubmers and hard testing data

Developer: Well I can't instantly blow that off as just stupid or petualent whining, so let me look into it

Which one is better?

Your increasingly hostile posts are going to force us to ask the moderators to step in soon if you show that you are going to make good on this threat to hijacking every thread expressing the least displeasure with the game as it stands to rant, Selwynn. It's getting most tedious already.

Great, we're all happy that you're still happy. We got the message the first time. Invalidating the experience of others who say they are unhappy with their gameplay is like shouting folks down who say they like apple pie. "NO you don't, you just THINK you like apple pie, you exaggerating idiot!"

Seriously, we have a lot of unhappy folks posting here, and all your posts insulting them are doing is winding them up, me included.

If you really decide to add your two cents worth of insults to every post where folks claim to be unhappy with their gameplay, you are treading on dangerous ground. That sounds an awful lot like simple flaming and trolling to me. I am sure the moderators won't stand for it for long.

My apologies if this wasn't a threat on your part, Selwynn, It just sure read like one. I just don't want to see every "I am unhappy" thread turn into a big argument. Don't know how you'd have the energy to post on all of them anyway, unless you just cut a pasted a "stop the whining" message or something.

Seriously, a lot of tk folks get no enjoyment from the game now and I can empathize with them. Personally I wasn't getting any great enjoyment out of the game after reaching master myself as all I had left to do seemingly was faction missions and playing doctor, whichisn't too exciting.

I did however have a lot of fun on the way up the TK trees, and feel badly for folks who will never have that kind of enjoyment. I don't think I enjoyed it as I was 'uber'. I enjoyed it because I could at least hold my own against a few blues with whites mixed in that I invariably blundered into. I wasn't out there KD spamming reds or anything. I got 95% + of my experience just doing solo destroy missions.

Without a lot of workarounds, somethingas simple as not having to flee from every encounter with multiple mobsjust doesn't seem to beavailable to them post-patch.

We both want them to enjoy the game, I am just saying let them shout it out and get it out of their system. Invalidating their experiences and calling them liars won't do any good.

Personally I still don't know if a couple blues would kill me, as I made darn sure on my trip to and from dantooine to never tackle anything but singles. I even gave up on the mission itself as 2 pikets spawned as I attacked the lair. I used burst run and left. Pre-patchI likely wouldhave hung around and tried to beat them. To me that's lessened my enjoyment right there. I hate living cautiously =(

Hum, When I was still having fun pre-patch, I had been too busyplaying rather than replying to posts.

Well, I feel that I have been one of the more reasonalbe people on the forums. I haven't spent a lot of time complaining, and I am pretty happy with the game.

But this just needs to be said.

Q, those answers were pitiful. Absolutely pathetic. In fact they were **edit**ing ridiculous excuses and non-answers. The fact that we've been sitting around for a month so that you could post something at uninformitive as that is basically disgusting.

You know what it would be better for you to just say "**edit** you" to the community and never even pretend to want feedback that to come back with answers some pattently RIDICULOUS and unhelpful.

I don't share everyone else's opinon that the TK class sucks. And I DO find the game fun. But I find the responses given here to be ignorant, patronizing, and insulting to my intelligence. No answer would have been better than this.

PS -- JediTool, I think you have a good point. And I agree that I think TKs are an awefully whiny bunch seeing as how we are the best of all the MElee classes. But that doesn't change the fact that this post was just disgusting.

This isn't a flame, but it seems very hypocritical of you to say that the complaints of TK'sare hurting the chances of TK artists to have their class improved when you post somethingwith so many expletivesin a developer topic.

Ilike many other paying customers have been on the TK board since the patch last wensday. Its only because of the so called whiners who have theguts to protest last wensdays crud patch that we nowhave been told adev is now looking into the issues with the TKA profession and yet there is still no word from an SOE rep or dev!

Selwynn. You best remember this, if something possitive does come out of the proteststhat theso called whiners have been making then you and the other lousy conformist who say everything is wonderful or just find a new profession will not have any right to saying that you played a part in trying to save the TKA profession!

I work hard for my money! I dont have all the free time in this world like you so I dont like paying towaste my money on game that is now a different game than the gameI bought. Now I amspending more time on a this board then playing the SWG game! Have you not noticed that the player manual is now somewhat useless on giving information on skills and so is the hint book too!

And I promise you I will put an end to my SWG account when I get conformation that the TKA profession is perma nerfed which I am sure my quitting will surely make you happy!

That's fine. I'm am at present unaware that I've done anything except post my point of view, and to date I haven't come across any rule for the forums that says there should be limits to how frequently a person does that.

Also, I'm skeptical that a moderator is going to rush in to squelch someone taking a "middle" ground in this situation, but if they feel that is what needs to be done then so be it. Until then, I'll post when I feel I want to post.

You're absolutely right. What, am I supposed to be humiliated or embarassed that you've discovered that I am human? Hardly. I was furious, as were many of you with the glib patronizing responses of the developers. I lose my stack over issues too sometimes, just like everyone else -- there's just one big difference...

When I do it, I recognize that I've made a mistake, and that the chances of my being taken seriously or listened to be anyone who matters just decreased. So yeah, I posted something cause I was worked up. But I bet you know developer gives it the time of day either. If on the other hand I had written something more articulate, something a litle thoughtful, that address their responses point by point, well.. even if they didn't pay that any more attention, I at least would have felt more proud of it.

So congratulations, you've identified the fact that I am a person. I stand by my belief that ranting and raving gets you knowwhere. Real discussion, with real data, that doesn't seek to falsely inflate issues is still the best way to work toward positive change. I appreciate being reminded that this is in fact my believe at times when I myself get worked up.

Is something positive does come out for TKAs in the near future, it will have absolutely ZERO to do with the "protests" if that's what you want to call it. I personally call it throwing an petulant childish fit. It will on the other hand, have everything to do with correspondants like Thunderwulf and the .01% of people who post thoughful meaingful data and analysis here, who clearly and articulately discuss problems and concerns about going off the deap end.

So while I may or may not have any right to saying that I played a part in trying to "save" the TKA profession, NEITHER WILL YOU. Angry, tempertantrums, exaggerated claims, spewn hatred towards game developers and the like will ALSO not contribute anything to "saving" the TKA profession.
