Thread: Fix for Kitting

Ok so kitting, all TKA's and well just melee people in general have issues with kitting. So there have been many options to fixing this, but the one i hear the most is to make it so we can catch them. The purpose being so we can UA KD and then U3 chain till they are dead. Well i dont know if this has been suggested, but I think it would be better if as TKA we had another mod like DA that would make us harder to hit if the person shooting is running. I think this would fix many problems. If its been suggested tell me what you think about it again.

When ppl run... i just use burst run to catch them and then go to work... granted this doesnt work well at all on good pvpers...

I don't see the problem. We TKAs have a pair of glorifiedBrass Knuckles, of course someone with a gun is going to lay down the damage from a distance, it's the entire point of having a gun. Why not pick up carbineer and use one of their state changes, then just walk up and kick thedude in the face? Lord knows we have the SP.

Pick up master brawler, or


Pick up a ranged profession, or


Burst run



Every profession can't do everything, you have to diversify.

id LOVE a new VK that shoots non damaging,but KDing (not dizzying though) bolts of energy when people go out of range,i always have troubles with the riflemen and pistoleers,be really rare i bet though =P maybe it can be temporary kneeling attack,just so we can catch up

I personally would like to see our UAleg hit turn into some sort of a slowing attack.. I have suggested it several times, and Ill suggest it again.. this is the perfect fix for our kiting issue. If you are on the heels of your opponent try to lunge them and dizzy them.. this is now staple for all melee as our KD's have been effectively put out to dry because of foods..


When you pvp try to do it indoors if at all possible we have an 8 meter reach without knucklers or with knucklers you can find range powerups for your knucklers and get up to a whopping 16 meter attack range.. but again thats only good for 100 strikes so make em count

don't complain about kiting, otherwise the dev's might get the idea to make the ranged classes able to go toe-to-toe with us for a day or two just to have a laugh...

if your TKM / Mbrawler, you have alot of possibilities. First you have Both of your lunges, then you have your unarmed KD 2 attack, and whatpeople never use isyour unarmed KDfirst attack as well. So if the second one doesn't work and doesn't even dizzy them, just slap a dizzy attack right before your unarmed KD 1 attack. then with both of your lunges, you should have plenty of opportunities to whack them at range or at least trying to get them on the ground. the Ranged classes are ranged for a reason, i've never seen a war where guns are used for bashing and smashing more than shooting (unless they have an ammo shortage, but i havn't seen too many of those in SWG).

Burstrun is good, but alot of PvP Ranged fightersuse it too when they see you running towards them w/ VK in hand

Yes, with food nowadays it seems if your on the right diet you can't be hit by anything. there's +99 Def v KD food on my server (anti-spam-KD2attack)(Tarquinas), Me and my bro's got up to 4k+ mind last nite and still had room for the good ole' synthsteak (although i've heard some moves go through it?...).

I've dropped TKM and Mbrawler since.... but always wondered... if you know your opponent is about to get right outside your range and kite you and you might not catch him for a bit... does Warcry2 still have the 20 sec delay (as long as they're not struck again while the timer is in effect) on other Players? if so that could be useful for waiting for the timers for the attacks to work again

ok lets look at it this way... you are doing a raid or are protecting a coity or somthing you and a master riflemen square off. You dont start out at 10 meters and need to close... you start 50m away and when you start running so do they... even if you burst so do they. In the off chance you do catch them they have gotten like what 10 or more shots off. With a good ion rifle or t21 or geno your done. Or maybe better they do flame kd or somthing like that.... tka have no chance when you come across someone like that. I just think that we need more stat mods that make us harder to hit i mean they talk about the tka trial being hard and stuff but it doesnt seem to train your body to dodge and weave. It just a thought but they really need to think about us dodging more... it might be as easy as fixing DA or any one of our borken things.

Hmmm... starting 50m away from a rifleman. And you're saying you lose? What? That can't be? A Ranged proffession beating a melee proffession at range? *gasp*


Seriously, I know it's a game, but if aninjacharges a guy with a gun from 50m away, he'll get shot. It's like that classic scne from Indiana Jones with the guy who does all this fancy swordplay then Indy just shoots him with his revolver.


The built in solution to kiting is lunge. It has a ridculously (seriously, a twenty meter punch?) extended range and if it works the result is them not being able to run for at least a little bit, whether you have Master brawler or not. You get unarmedlunge1 at Novice Brawler and it has a 20m range and a posture down effect. If that's not put in by the devs specifically to be a kiting defense then I don't know what is.


There still is a problem, but it makes sense. The only thing that should be doe to fix this is fix the Rifle accuracy while moving. Riflemen are way powerful because they can run around firing the most uber mind shot ever at the speed cap without missing.

you guys **edit** to much about this. There is a simpler solution, and that is............get a back up ranged profession. I am a master rifleman working on TKA (currently a 0/0/0/4) and all that has been said in this thread is Im not uber because ranged people can shot me and I cant beat them up from far away. You are a profession that uses your hands, stop complaining, just pick up a nice ranged profession and you willl be fine, they kit, you wipe out your pistol/carbine/rifle and fire back. And for all those that hate rifleman, know this. Anything less than master and you suck, Period. If you dont have brandy/canape/moun on you, you better not fire specials as you will only be able to get off 3 before your mind is drained and at which case it would only take one shot to your mind pool and you are on your back. Stop complaining because you aren't completely the uber stuff that you want to be, just balance it with ranged and you will be good to go. They stand toe to toe and you will lay the smackith down on their candy @$$e$, and if they run, they are already dead (pulls out T21 and begins to go machine gun style on their butt).

this isnt the pikemen forum... this is the tka forum..


and pikemen can kill named mobs that drop stuff that we as tka need.. infact ive seen a steady influx of pikemen since thier accuracy was jacked
