Hello all and welcome! I would really like to start a constructive dicussion about the possibilities of expanding the role of a Teras Kasi in the Star Wars universe. We are just talking hypathetically on this topic and lets all try to remain on topic Any flames or trolls, lets try and ignore. Even if this thread is neve read by a developer or anything, I still think its fun to dream up what a Teras Kasi could possibly become!

So without futher ado...

In regards to the title of this post, many people have been expressing interest in expanding the proffesion even further by adding an elite, elite proffesion called the "Teras Kasi Grandmaster." Now along with super melee bonuses, there would have to be cutbacks as well, mabe to the whole Teras Kasi proffesion. So, lets think what we can live without, what we would like to hone.

I would like to share my brainstorms with ya When I think of a TK Grandmaster, I see a fighter who fights more with his mind and body than with weapons. I like the ideas of being able to focus the mind into different fighting styles or moving into different stances. These different "disciplines" or fighting techiques if properly balanced could add a lot more depth and a more "mental battle" to the Teras Kasi proffesion.

Things brings up something else, balancing out throughout the entire proffesion field... I personally am for Teras Kasi havinging to pay double the SP, but I don't want to push that in this thread, but to expand on that idea, mabe if the TKM branch wasnerfed (stay with me) and then its power was continued and mabe expanded into a new Teras Kasi Grandmaster preffesion, but that idea is a bit extreme...

One that I really like is keeping TKM the way it is, but achieving master would only be the beginning. Kinda like getting blackbelt and then going for the white stripes (sorry, my martial arts knowledge is very limited). Now, this is where it gets interesting, TKM's must now start to try and find hidden "dojos" where Grandmaster's dwell and study under them and new titles could come into play or whatnot. It would be fun if these might even be random spawns and be a mission driven (very hard) system. Also, as people gain the 900K cap in ua xp, mabe they could trade that large amount of xp into an increase of their skills in some way or something, just and idea. I might come back into this forum and throw in a few ideas, but anyway, lets discuss! Might be cool if we get this pushed through

We definately need more elite elite professions, especially with awsome classes like TKA

I have always agreed with this idea and I really like your ideas about hidden (it would also have to be random spawning for each person or hiding does no good) dojos and quests. I think quests should only be half of it though, the other half being a combination ofunarmed explike normal (with really high costs - maybe 1.5 mil, 4 mil, 7 mil, and 12 mil) and a type of combat exp (perhaps Teras Kasi exp?) that slowly accumulates from doing said quests and fighting.

As far as balance goes, well... that would be really difficult. It should be just like adding another elite that requires the current Teras Kasi Master (maybe change it to just Teras Kasi?) as a prerequisite and takes the same number of skillpoints as any other elite. The only problem with this is that it would still take fewer skill points than Bounty Hunter and the same as Commando whilst making it worth spending double the points being a Teras Kasi would require a very significant increase in power from the current Teras Kasi putting Bounty Hunters and Commandos at a disadvantage. It might be okay for Bounty Hunter because that is a profession that should be better at PvP than anyone else and not necessarily really good at PvE and it would still have the advantage of range, but Commandos would be left behind. Perhaps the fact that this would require an elite profession as a prerequisite would balance it out because of the time and difficulty of mastering an elite as compared to a basic.

Another idea is that elite elites could be something like the Jedi profession. Perhaps it should take a set number of skill points, say 200. So the novice boxwould take200 minus whatever you used for the prerequisites leaving you with 50 skill points for other professions. Then all of the other boxes would only require the experience or quest to train. In this way there could be an elite elite profession for Brawler andMarksman.

Also, I think Bounty Hunter should only require the hunting line of scout which would help balance a lot.

By the way, not to be rude, but Teras Kasi Grandmaster is a really stupid name. I know this is just a brainstorming and dreaming phase, but I'm sure someone can come up with something better or the new elite could be Teras Kasi Master while the current one would just be Teras Kasi. It would just be really bad if this caught on and everyone was calling it Teras Kasi Grandmaster.

you know, for the names, switch the current Teras Kasi Master title, to Teras Kasi Artist, and then instead of Teras Kasi Grandmaster, you have Teras Kasi Master.

I have the same reaction to this idea that I do to the "Fallen TKA" idea:

It's unnecessary and doesn't add that much to the game as a whole. It appears to be a somewhat self centered idea that promotes making TKs even better and more central to the game, when in actuality they're quite popular and strong as is.

I'd much rather see the existing professions be well balanced than to add an extraneous profession that doesn't make much sense (to me).

I completely agree with you. This would be an extremely fun addition to the game, but no one expects (at least realistically) the devs to be able to implement a new profession that would be as different as this without properly balancing the others. It is my understanding that combat balance is on the way though, so things like this could come some time after that.

And about Teras Kasi being popular, well I think that's one of the reason's this would work. It would also fit the lore that everyone wants Teras Kasi to have as well as adding another level to the profession system.

I agree we need more than just TKM that is why I earned Master Brawler and am now working on Master Fencer. I am only going thease routs because they offer generic melee bonuses that add to my overall TKM abillities.

This "path" will take up all my points as I have novice medic and 4 boxes in scout. I went with stackable melee skills because they were designed that way as evident by the whole "Brawler" class.

(small rant) If the Dev's go against their origional idea of mixing/stacking melee skills witch is the whole idea of the Brawler class. Then I quit plain and simply I will not invest time to have it stolen by a company that caves in to the unfounded cries of little kids.

I think that we should have some content added like maybe a quest to find some mystical items that would add to our abillities. Or a theam park that has a Unarmed tournament as its focus so we can earn ranks of honor etc.

This game lacks what it should have the most of "CONTENT" once we have spent all our skills what do we do. Yeah we can add badges and kill every critter/npc we can find but that Mile wide does not make up for the inch deep that this game has to offer.

So in short yes adding new things is good.

/signs on the dotted line to pass said measure.

Not on the bandwagon

Focus on content for everyone before doing complicated TKA-only content. There are too many of us anyway....

This is a good way to bring an end to the whole Teras Kasi Artist v. Teras Kasi Order debate. Make the elite elite profession the Teras Kasi Order. Make the exp necessary very high (almost prohibitive). The Order should feature skills and mods that oppose the force (force mitigation possibly) as well as enhancing conventional skills. The order should fit intoits EU role.

I think of it like this. TKA is like going down the street to your local martial arts training facility training forX amount of time and coming out with a black belt. TKO would be like taking that black belt with you as you headed east looking for a Shao-lin temple to study in and dedicate your life to, assuming that they would let you past the gates.

As for the title, I am not a fan of grand master. I sounds like you belong to the loyal order of water buffalos or something. Since we already have Teras Kasi Master for the artists how about we just do a little play on words and go with Master of the Teras Kasi for the Order. It is a subtle difference technically, but a very large difference in meaning.

Wow ya beat me to it,as i was going to start a thread on this very same concept. My naming process would be different than yours tho and TKA would have it's own 3-tiered tree.

The way my naming process would go from start to finish is... TK Aspirant...TK Initiate....TK Student.....TK Novice.....TK Expert.....TK Maste

I dont have the time to fill in all the details, but here are just a few....UA states of Blind, Stun, Itimidate, Dizzywould scale from 1 to 3....we would get KI Cry instead of a Warcry and it would go 1-3 also....Meditate line would move up to the 3rd tier with Power Boost being in the 4th box, posture change abilities & presicision hit abilities would scale from 1-3, we would get a scaling force powers defense ability along with a "KI Force" type of power/hit in the 3rd tier... we would be able to throw shurikens for poison damage with our throwing ability & accuracy scaling from 1-3.... all defenses would scale up.....etc.

Things that would go bye-bye would be VK's...Warcry name.....Taunt.....Brawler tree.......Armor...Bad Combo damage.... FOW....

This is just some of my ideas on this and not the complete picture of what i was envisioning for TKA. I hope this thread will continue as a non-flame, troll, whiner, etc. thread, as this is exactly the type of actual "brain usage" thread we need to see more of in this forum.

I like the idea of a elite elite profession. I agree that it shouldn't just be trained by another trainer. Maybe once you reach a certain level in unarmed XP a TK trainer can give you a mission(or 2, 3..) On completion you get a waypoint to your new trainer. You then learn Novice TKGM or whatever you want to call the skill. The same goes for all other skills. IMO this must be a very long grind. You shouldn't be able to do this in even 1 week of solid grinding.

The same could be done to almost any combat profession.

Will this or something like it ever happen? Probably not, at least anytime before the space expansion.
