why should Teras Kasi gain such an expanded role and not the other professions?

before wishful thinking you should probably consider this.

Hehe, alright, alright, I agree that the "Grandmaster" title is a bit lame, so lets scratch that. Just want to stress here, we're just having a discussion as to what we believe Teras Kasi is and how we can expand it. We as a proffesion have had the pleasure of having a truely amazing community that got things done and fixed. I personally think it healthy of a community to begin thinking how we can more expand our own proffesion. I would like something clear also, I am not a powerhungry person, the reason I started this thread was to further promote a more role-play role in the SW universe for Teras Kasi fighter. I am all for balance and personally believe that we as a whole should only be effective at point-blank range, needing to use a more mental aproach to combat, so I beg of you to not thing otherwise

I want you all to know, I think this discussion is very important for not only us, but for every proffesion out there. We are beginning to push in different directions of thinking, and the more character every proffesion gets, the more character and role-play it brings to the world. Image Designers that become mad scientists capable of horrible surguries,Creature Handlers who befriend a Rancor and ride on their shoulder while the monster eats paralopes, Doctors who travel to Endor and concoct a special antidote from various flora to heal a spreading fever in an Ewok village, a Smuggler who saves a Wookiee from a spice mine and gains a new friend who has a "life debt" to him. So many possible things that can happen, only if we begin thinking and pushing

Now, to get back on topic, I believe we can work something out with the DoT problem, it actually came to me as I was falling asleep last night. I once was watching a movie where a certain martial arts master could poison and kill a man with a certain "chi hit" called the "monkey hand" or something, I think its in the movie "Iron Monkey." But anyway, I think it would be great if we had a "Poison Fist" hit (I hate the name I gave it, but oh well, lol!) that poisons one of the pools through the centering of negative energy into a square hit to a part of the body. In fact, I heard people calling before for a chi hit that would glow when gather energy, it would be cool to implement a certain animation like that into this move.

Okay, thats all for now, lets keep this discussion alive, I'm loving it!

Well from a role playing point of view, I would say it's hard to say. On these boards we have large disagreements about what TKA is. Whats the order, does they still excist? is it just a martial art? were they evil, becuase they would hold jedi in check, and because darth maul was it and was evil?

I think we all need to get some, real proof, and some dev talking about what Teras Kasi, is in SWG and what its not.

Because from that point of view, the idea about a fallen TKA proffesion was great. Change the titels, and the moves animations a bit... And instead of Meditate, standing with your fists closed, shaking... gaining all anger to him(like the good/bad meter in kotor, and when ur really bad ur character looks evil and twisted)!

We need to know where we are, what our role is

If you ask me I guss and hope we will hear more about it in the combas pass!

I like the whole Grandmaster idea, sure there's like next to no chance of it ever happening it's still cool to think about.

My view would be that the new meditate line would include skills like 1000 boost to your recharge stats (str,stam,willpower...i think). With each box your would gain and adition +250 ending up in a total of 1000...this wouldn't be a boost like /powerboost tho. It would only work while you are meditating to help you gain points back up after a fight...kinda like you concentrate your mind on healing yourself. At Grandmaster I would give the ability toregain battle fatigue.

With the balance line I think it would be pritty good to have a Force Power Mitigation. Just like we have now with melee damage but with force instead.

As for the Power/Striking lines I don't think if it did happen a TKA should be made any more powerfull. Maybe add lines like Sence Force use...which would work much like a Bounty Hunters investigation line mixed with the rangers tracking line, but instead of hunting criminals it would deal with rogue jedi.

For the 4th line I think it would be cool to have a line dependant on defence...kind of like how Centre of Being is supposed to work atm, but on a higher level. But what you gain in defence would make you less accurate in offence.

Well the whole idea of expanding TKA for the elite/elite profession intrigues me. I was wondering, instead of just focusing on a TKA GrandMaster title... maybe open up 3-5 lines in the tree after Master and the person persuing it would be restricted to just one line.

What I mean by "line" is different styles... with a variety of animations and specifiic combos to each style. As with todays real martial arts... An easy way to view this is 3 stylesfor example:

1. Snake... the Master TKA performs many attacks, visual animations show the player using low and close to the ground attacks... maybe some dots added for effect.

2. Monkey... the Master TKA performs mainly holding and grappling attacks. Armbars, jointlocks etc...

3. Eagle.... the Master TKA performs largly with acrobatic attacks. Flying kicks...etc... This line focuses more on the ability to inflict damage states more severely, longer period of time. Such as stun, blind, dizzy etc..

lol dont mind me, just thinking that it would be nice if devs would just open up a wide variation of animations for our TKA... seeing the same spinning kick over and over again gets old...lol (but ya still gotta love it)

In my opinion becoming more advanced than a Master Tera Kasi should be very difficult.

Here is how I would do it:

First you need to Master Tera Kasi

Next you need to max out your Unarmed XP

Next you need to max out your AP XP

Finally you would need to hunt down a randomly spawning NPC that would give you a big quest to complete.

At the end of the quest you get a waypoint to a Fallen TK trainer and one to a Grand Master TK trainer depending on what one you want to choose.

Note that I don't want these professions to take priority over existing bugs and fixes to the game. I wouldn't mind ifthese new professions were includedin the SpaceExpansion though....

youcould have part of the quest to be a Grand Master take you to planets that haveno starports....Then you would have to Role Play and find a pilot to take you to your destination.

This is great idea in theory, but it's impractical at the moment. I know we're all just brainstorming here, but I highly doubt a gigantic TK Grandmaster quest would ever be implemented. Still, it would be pretty cool.

You doubt that this would ever be implemented? This is something that I could see happening some time down the road, maybe with, or after the space expansion. I think that something like this would be an great boon to gameplay and would go a long way for emersion. The game certainly has the potential to support this type of thing and perhaps it will happen someday.

Now, Teras Kasi is what we're talking about now, but this sort of progression of elite elites could be applied to many more professions as well (at least one coming out of the marksman tree with this coming from the brawler) and would certainly add depth to the game as well as an increased roleplaying incentive.

I agreed with this then. Not sure if it was your posts I was reading, but never had the incentive to support it or talk about. But at this point I think the community and the developers could benefit from this sort of fresh thinking.

I really want to stress that Teras Kasi really fits this type of elite elite because of the vague EU background and how it fits(well actually how it doesn't really fit) in the SWG profession trees, but if something like this were to actually be implemented, this could bethe template for many professions, not just Teras Kasi.

This is a good way to bring an end to the whole Teras Kasi Artist v. Teras Kasi Order debate. Make the elite elite profession the Teras Kasi Order. Make the exp necessary very high (almost prohibitive). The Order should feature skills and mods that oppose the force (force mitigation possibly) as well as enhancing conventional skills. The order should fit intoits EU role.

I think of it like this. TKA is like going down the street to your local martial arts training facility training forX amount of time and coming out with a black belt. TKO would be like taking that black belt with you as you headed east looking for a Shao-lin temple to study in and dedicate your life to, assuming that they would let you past the gates.

As for the title, I am not a fan of grand master. I sounds like you belong to the loyal order of water buffalos or something. Since we already have Teras Kasi Master for the artists how about we just do a little play on words and go with Master of the Teras Kasi for the Order. It is a subtle difference technically, but a very large difference in meaning.

Master of the Teras Kasi Order - as in "a" master of the Teras Kasi Order - that's a good one, I love it.

I like the analogy about the black belt vs the Shao-lin

It's also a good idea about the force mitigation etc. But you have to be careful there. Teras Kasi should be geared more toward surviving a Jedi attack and perhaps having skills that would give a group the chance to attack one but certainly not being able to hunt them and kill them or anything that would help or interfere with bounty hunters doing this. I could see their application having something to do with Jedi in the Galactic Civil War where one of the few ways to take down a high level Jedi would be to have an one of these new elite elites in there along with your normal mix. This should be about the extent of it though as that could fit the role of watching the Jedi order and believing that it can't be trusted to police itself. After all, so long as the Jedi are filling the role of"keepers of peace and justice"they aren't hurting anyone in the eyes of a Teras Kasi, but once they're out there slaughtering others in the war (if it's true that a Jedi will be able to take out a group of players with ease) then they could be seen as getting out of control. Of course no profession should come close to the power of the Jedi, this would just provide a way for a good sized group of players to take down one Jedi - especially since they'll be in PvP a lot more now.

Exactly my thoughts. Ideas like these will benefit the game as a whole. If they were to do something like this and it turned out to be really good do you think that they would stop with Teras Kasi? Or even with professions? Something like this could have many far reaching effects in the areas of depth and emersion on the entire game.

I think they need to fix the other classes first. I would rather have all strong, fair classes than tons of broken classes that no time and effort was invested in. Plus, everyone would pick up the good proffessions like TKA and the game would just be... boring.... I like being 'different' so if that ever happened i would take another class , no matter how broken it is.
