Thread: Getting to TK Novice
LOL! I mastered TK twice and I have gotten to TK student at least 5 times. That box is easy to get
1) get a vibro knuckle if you don't already have one.
2) get some good kinetic armor
3) get buffed. (this is optional, but to speed things up it helps)
4) group with a bunch of people to pull higher level missions.
5) grind those missions on your own, don't take a group because they will just steal XP.
6) repeat steps 2-5 till master
When you get half way through TK then switch to squill caves and / or tusken fort.
but i did it with greater shauputs on Naboo outside of theed.. get buffed.. go out and attack them.. when you get Unarmed IV .. and the spin attack..it gets easier as you can damage 4 or 5 at once.. i also solod plains hunters.. and ikopi stags...
Endor is another good place. I fought Jax (can't remember what type: Blooming Jax, etc..). Some of them are tough, so find the easiest type of Jax to kill. If you can find a good spawn, 50 or more will spawn. Also, these things don't DB and most of the major spawns on Endor don't as well. I agree with the VK for any level under novice, but remember one thing: BERSERK.
VK helps with speed, berserk with damage. Once you've gotten up the techniques ladder (or whatever ladder has damage and speed), I'd go to Dantooine and kill pikets. Now, this may be an easier way than what has already been posted, but I'm aWookiee and didn't have the luxury of armor, so it may not apply toyou. Either way, good luck and have fun. TK is a very cool profession.
PS:If you do choosethe Endor route.... run if you meet a Blurrg Raptor. hehe
The problem with Unarmed IV is, simply, it isn't Teras Kasi (duh!). It's like you're close enough to taste it. But you still don't do crap for damage. The buffs help a lot, but it takes so dang long to kill anything. If someone knows of some creatures that give 10,000xp a piece and have no kinetic resistance, I'd like to know.
Get some serious buffs, go to Dantooine and run some huurton or piket missions. You will want to do this grouped. When Itried a huurton mission solo, I had to try pretty hard to make sure I was only fighting one at a time. Even with the buffs, I had to rest fairly frequently.
Either that or run any missions on Corellia until Christmas, and you'll get there.
My method was this... I started out completely fresh. Brand new character, no money, no armor, no nothing.
Unarmed 1-3 - No problem, just did the new starter droid brawler quests and dwarf nuna missions out of Mos Eisley for a little starter cash. Once I made Unarmed three I graduated to diseased bocatt missions out of Bestine. Take em to the southeast, from the entrance of the city for best results. By the way, things go much faster if you have a speeder. Use the rental one from the droid missions, or save up for a swoop.
Unarmed 4 - Kinda sucked. Flew to Theed, then shuttled to a player city and ran narlatch youngling cubs to unarmed 4. Right now is the time to be looking into getting yourself a VK. Under 1.8 speed preferred. I can't stress the importance of this item. You should be working towards getting it right after your speeder.TIP: Use berserk and your regular attack with VKs. Use unarmed stun / blind if you don't have VK's yet.
TKN - By this time you should have enough money to get buffed. Head to the TuskenFort and jump in a group if possible. Take on the Tusken Commoners and the Raiders only. Your armorless body really can't stand up to the captains and warlords and chiefs yet. This should get you TKN in no time. If you lose your group or just can't handle it, take some zucca boar, womp rat, or rock beetle missions out of a player city nearby.
To sum up:
Unarmed 1-4
- Be looking towards a VK and a speeder
- Take bocatt / narlatch missions for cash
TKN
- Tuskens are the key (buffed only)(go for commoners/raiders)
- If all else fails, womp rats/zucca boars/rock beetles will do
Hope that helps
I already posted to this thread, but no one has mentioned this yet.
Join a player guild. There are plenty out there. I've found that most people in the game are very courteous and extremely helpful. Players in guilds are even more so. Check around on the forums for the server that you're on and see if there are people out there looking for members, or throw a note out to see if there's one that appeals to you.
The reason I say join a guild is so that you can get a little boost early on. We have an armorsmith, a weapon maker, and a (couple) master doctors. That means, for the most part, free armor, weapons, and buffs. If not that, then at least they can give you some tips on where to go. The point is for them to help you bootstrap yourself until you can return the favor. Let me repeat that: make sure you return the favor as soon as you're able. Give the new guild members some cash to get started. Give them your old armor instead of selling it in the bazaar, etc.
