Thread: TKA Ruined??

I'm a TKA master, have been for a very long time, before the CU I was able to solo regular missions and kill just about anything with cool moves and massive damage. Now after the CU, I cant do regular missions of my lvl without dying, barely able to kill noob mobs and no cool moves anymore, just basic punch and kick. I look like a noob and feel like a noob. I used to be able to dish out like 2k dmg but now I can barely do 200dmg with so called special attacks. I'm trying to finish my jedi boxes but if im not able to play the game it wont happen. Am I doing something wrong here? Or did sony put this CU in to force ppl to have to play in a group? Hell, I have a hard time taking down a bolle bol now, what's the deal with that???

Hmmmmm.... manybe you should try hunting IN A GROUP.....


wait a minute... I seem to remember the Devs saying that the CU would be more based on strategy....

No CU was put in to force ppl to group with other ppl, sony didnt care about the ppl that enjoyed to solo. And for your win button i died many times before CU, Ive tried every combination to try to do a mission of my lvl but just doesnt work. Cu made the game very NOT fun....a very disappointment

oh and btw, i can solo enemies of my level no problem... you just need to think about what you are doing now...

Nothing's ruined, you must adjust your playstyle to fit the new mechanics of the game.

and please, stop making these posts here, they aren't needed or wanted. There are no devs here to address your concerns, and there will be no rollbacks

That leads me to only one assumption, you just like the look or your own text.

Yeah, I was thinking this was the end too.


But there are a few things that rock about post-CU TKM.


The first is that I don't need an armorsmith, I use a tailor - I look cooler than any other skill - even jedi- when I fight.


Second is that it seems that any of my brawler and swordsman moves can be used WITH MY HANDS! This is cool.


Third - Don't need doctors anymore (which is why I gave it up) Powerboost works even with my sword, Center of Being, meditate heals me and I get dancer buffs in half the time without having to sit through two sessions.


It still sucks big time that XP (except for this week) is dribbled out at a pathetic rate, but I'll have MSwords by week's end so my template wil be complete - (sorry new guys.) It sucks that crafters are so weak they can't harvest without a group.


But, as much as I hate to admit it, CU was not so bad to (EXISTING) TKMs.

Ok I'll admit the CU is growing on me. I hated it at first. But come on guys. The design specs say that TKA do MODERATE damage. Don't you think that TKA specials should do more than 200 dmg, especially the skills you get with the master TKA box? I do more damage now with melee assault (which is from the master brawler box) than I do with any TKA special. Most of the time, I just fight unarmed (without VK) because it does more damage!? I shot stuff with my pistol (I have ONLY novice marksmen box) and I was doing more damage than any TKA special.


I understand that TKA's are now Tank and not damage dealers, but if the design specs say that TKA is moderate for offense, thenweSHOULD be stronger than pikeman who offsense is listed as weak. I was grouped with a pikeman the other day and he was smokin getting 1500 damage per hit.


What's up with that. The TKA got the nerf bat. Hard.

That seems to be a bug right now,don't use any weapon(bare hands) and you will do nearly twice the damage as with a weapon. I was hitting kunga last night for 500+ damage, don't forget armor break and center of being

I'll play my TKM for a lil bit longer and see how they adjust things in this CU they just did b4 i make a "real assessment" of my dearly loved profession. One thing tho, is it sure is looking more like....EQ In Space.... lately with all of the talk of Tanks, Crowd Control, Taunt, Holding of Aggro, etc. and with the seemed forcing ofgrouping more instead of solo adventures.

Well, it's not ruined, just unbalanced at the moment. We do more damage unarmed than with our chosen weapons, the knucklers, a serious disbalance in my opinion. And it looks to me like in some ways the CU did its job TOO well...explain that strange statement: instead of having it where professions were unique, and could be awesome all by themselves, they're interdependent to the point where a good deal of each prof's identity is lost. I use TKM specials with a powerhammer now, for instance, a Rifleman/Carabineer is using carbine specials with a heavy rifle...heck, I pistol-whipped somebody on Test before I ditched Commando with a flamethrower. To an extent all this is wonderful, but not having more 'iconic' moves makes professions like TK seem...ordinary. TK, or Rifleman, or Swordsman, or whatever, I should add. Heck, somebody with no mastery of any kind could likely use a combination of TK, Swords, Fencer, and Smuggler (can't add Pikeman in there 'cause you'd have to be a Master Brawler then), and not get any of the highest-rated weapons, but likely do extremely well.

Another reason I think the CU should be followed up with an all-professions revamp. We've levelled the playing field, now let's raise it...give everybody a reason to go for Mastery again besides just a badge.
