Thread: TKM only useful with a second melee profession?

So far from what I've seen, TKM is only worth it when you pick up Swordsman/Fencer/Pikeman to do damage with... is this true? As I'd personally like to keep TKM myself, but I'm unsure which of the melee profs to pick up other then it. Currently trying a pure ranged template, but I dunno...

I am a Mrif/Commando 4040 and TKM.

Works awesome.

I like TKM MCM

With combat medic I can throw nice DOTs on them, and use thyroid rupture to save myself even more damage.

After that I can take a pounding while having plenty of time to keep my CoB up and heal myself as my auto attack and DoTs kill them all.


(note: havent PvPed too much with this, so im not sure how effective it is there.)

That's my template also. The only thing I'm finding about this is that it takes VERY long to kill things. I was grouping w/ a friend who's a BH/rifleman and for every one mob I take down, he takes down 2 or 3 On the good side, I can go afk and auto attack/macro CoB away w/o hardly ever needing a heal if the mob is lower level...

TK is the BH of Melee. Good on its own, but only comes close to it's potential when stacked.

TKM/MCM works great at crowd control once you get it figured out, nice thing you are filing 2 roles at once tank and healer for the group...... if you like support combatclasses that have high value to a group hunting trip this is one of the best...... if you like damage dealers then go TKM/MSwords/and some doc to heal yourself it realy does kill things fast.

Every combat prof now seems to need help, if you want to be everything. They have pretty clearly defined roles. Pikes seems to be the most well-rounded, but they still need some support.


Swords hit hard, and die fast. I was MSwords pre-CU. I couldn't handle it wearing just Battle armor, so I added TKM.

TKM don't get hit. If you're dying from things several levels below you, check to be sure you aren't wearing armor, make sure you're using your improved CoB whenever you can, and consider how many enemies you're taking at once.


If you're in a group, you can be just TKM. You can tank, you can dodge, and someone else can kill. If you're solo, add damage - just like it warned you in the combat map...

TKM/MD/Master Brawler


I can solo or be an effective tank in a group. I love it.


Powerboost, buff and take foods. I am still using up brandy, ahrisa and canape atm and they seem to give you a slight edge.


I made a COB macro(just have to be sure to be standing still when it fires)


If grouped, I just taunt, armor break till it sticks, bleed,set my auto attack as melee hit. Very low action burn so you can basically just stand there and take it while your bigger dmg dealers take down the creature. If you are solo you can take on about 3 lvl 80 at a time pretty well.


For the action cost kd doesn't seem to be worth it to me when fighting solo. Dizzy doesincrease dmg dealt so I throw that in from time to time.


When solo I have a healing macro as well.

I am having more fun now then I have had in a long time

From further testing (especially the hint the Devs gave us)


I can't stress this enough, learn all your templates abilites then find out what they do in certain combinations. Also, remember the CU was design for Template stacking - yet youcan still play one profession at a reasonable level, but you will not get to your fullest potential unless you do what i mention aboved.


My template: Master TK, Master Pike, Master Brawler, Swordsman xx22 - will be xx44 soon, & Novice Fencer.


Now the core of all my abilities come from Master TK and Master Pike with only one special from Swordsman. These two professions have almost all the abilities prior to the CU if you know how to use them in the right combinations.


Atm, i can tank3 lvl 82 yellowcon w/o losing health most of the time...yes thats right! Heres the Hint playTKM as if you were playing pre CU - that means States and moreStates, then startexecuting damaging moves. You will see a BIG difference in combat.


Oh one more thing, i do not use recursive macros....now that doesn't mean i don't use macros, but only for executing certaincombinations.

I have this combo too, and it works nicely. I recently dueled a guildmate, a Jedi Padawan with Master Defender and Healing 2000. We fought for 20 minutes or more before I distracted myself with typing something in guild chat and got incapped. I never thought I'd last that long though

Same template for me. Remember that DOT's stack. You can rack up some very nice damage with them if you hit with 3 or 4 of them. And if the TK's weapons weren't useless, he/she could do some decent damaged.

Primary role though for this template is group defense/healing. Bacta Spray with this template actually helps by agro'ing mobs. Much more succesful than the taunt command.

And as for PVP, It's quite good if played correctly. Lots of strategy involved. I've won most PvP fights since the CU.
