Quick Tips: How to get from TKA to TKM quickly
(for the n00bs)

When I first started out as TKA I had been coming from the smuggler profession and was used to kding things from afar. I also had unlimited KD so it was easy to solo ANYTHING IN THE GAME, now that you can't do these things it's alot harder to get from TKA to TKM.

TIP #1: Grab yourself a pet!!

Go out and get the nearest Rock Beetle, name him Rocky and take him to dathomir. Hunt Mutant Baznitches. They are 4k a kill (grouped with Rocky), the missions yeild 7k each (To search through the menus quicker, just get anything that's 7k to the west I guarentee it'll be a mutant baznitch lair.

TIP #2:Get the first two skills of CH (easily dropped later, you should all have exploration 4 already)

Go out and get the nearest Greater Sludge Panther, name him Kitten and take him back out to Dathomir. By this time after getting those two skills you should at least have maybe 2 to 3 skills of TKA already. I suggest you go up the skill trees in this order.

0100 -> 0110 -> 0120 -> 0130 -> 0140 -> 0240 .. so on (Meditation comes last!!!)

TIP #3: For chance you can't get a pet, HAVE A FRIEND CH TAKE YOU!!

I had a great CH friend named Daxx that would take me to Dathomir for about 3 hours everynight and I would get a skill and a half or more every night. It was amazing and I owe that man alot of gratitude.

TIP #4: Stand out side of the 4.5m range when using a pet to tank for you *IMPORTANT*

Probably my biggest problem was getting that pet to stop agroing me. I never understood it, I stood there and hit it, the pet was closer than I was, 2m was too close... 3m was too close.. even 4m! So eventually I realised that if I stand at 5m and beat on this thing, it will CONTINUE to agro the pet and ignore me completely. THIS WILL HELP YOU ALOT!

TIP #5: Have PHARM 4 to heal your pet (If you are using one)

Having Pharm 4 helped me because it gives you 1.2-1.5k heals (a full heal for your character) and also heals your pet real quick because even with 8k hams that GSP will get torn up.

INFO #1: A GSP (Greater Sludge Panther) will last for about 2 entire lairs before needing a heal.

INFO #2: Kill Mutant Baznitches, I can't stress this enough.

TIP #6: (MOST IMPORTANT) Don't use your VK's after Power 4. LEAVE THEM IN YOUR SMALL HOUSE. I don't care what anyone says, these things will hurt you more than they help you. I understand that you don't do much power prior to Power and Speed 4, that's why you should use them.. even though they hurt, Pharm 4 will help you alot. After Power 4 you will NEVER need to use these stupid peices of **edit** ever again enless you like dieing (especially in pvp) I will kill ANY tkm in pvp w/o my VK's if he uses his. It's just TOO easy.

TIP #7: Meditation sucks until Master, I can tell you that right now.. but I swear for all the money in the world Meditation is probably the best thing that's happened to me besides KD2. At low levels it WILL help your regen rates speed up, but not considerably. (It heals poisons and bleeds farther up the line (See other Forum Threads))

PVP TIPS!

I don't have many yet, actually.. I don't have much at all, and neither does anyone but I've learned from the best and here's what I have to pass down.

PVP TIP #1: You will want to stay inside buildings as much as possible. Don't use your terrain because people (amazingly) can shoot through the ground. Use your structures!

You'll want to chase people so much when getting kited. This doesn't happen very much during pvp that contains large groups of people, I'll get to that later, but if you're doing a 1 on 1 or chasing a stray into the desert don't do it. What I do is chase for a bit until I realise this idiot is actually smart enough to run. Then I run toward my closest structure and heal. Wait for them, because 9 times out of 10 they will think they own you cuz you're melee and come sneaking around the corner, BAM KD2 is your FRIEND.

PVP TIP #2: Battle Confusion. Two words, a phrase that I created myself describing the best situations to kill people in pvp.

Situation: 4 on 5 imps vs rebels (on Intrepid it would be 4 vs 20 rebs but anyway) They're all ranged of course, they're all shooting at eachother and out of no where here comes the tkm, out of the dust like a **edit** ninja we're crazy like that. Bam you're down, KD2 my friend, now your enemies friend is right next to him. Watching in horror as you waste this poor n00b in 2-3 hits. /deathblow on to the next guy. Now, by this time the surrounded ranged people have cleared the area, you look around, you want to find the guy that ran to the best spot. Most likely you won't choose the stray because he will KITE YOU. Choose the one that ran closest to your friends, them or he will be easier because he will be attacked at all sides, yet no one is attacking you yet because they are all concentrating on the guy with the pistol. /kd2 omg he's down, you're flipping out this is great unarmed hit 3 omg holy **edit** /deathblow. Up next is the last one take him down and brag like you've never bragged before.

The point of that is to show, most of the time the ranged persons will not attack you if you're attacking their friend they are 1) more concerned with their own well-being and 2) convinced that there is no helping this poor person, kd2 is the devil. run rebel run.

PVP TIP #3: Hide your TKM title

I know, I know.. "but exile, i worked forever to get this ungodly title" I know you have son, I know. I spent saying "Hey guys look at my title, hey look.. guys. come back HEY LOOK" after a while my satisfaction was.. we... satisfied.. It helps alot in the opening of a battle if no one knows what you are (especially ranged, but that beautiful red trace will give it away)

PVP TIP #4: Stand as close as possible to a person you are dueling. I don't know how many times this'll work, and it even works on the pros. This really works well with your title hidden. 9/10 the person you are dueling will accept your duel within KD2 range. Congrads you've won your duel.

Idiot Tips

IDIOT TIP #1: If you are using a pistol with your TKA class (as I used to when I started) you will sometimes have that pistol equip. If you accept a duel (which I rarely do anymore, enless I am gaurenteed a win) MAKE SURE YOUR PISTOL IS DEQUIP. OMG This happened to me numerous times and I was so enraged I deleted my scout blaster. There's nothing more embarrassing then chasing a guy around with your pistol wondering why the hell unarmed hit 2 isn't working right. "It's must be a bug" is what you'll say. I guarentee that's what you'll say.

Well, there you go... For all of the n00bs out there, we were all n00bs at once and we should at least give them some help. Don't be worried TKM'sI didn't tell them the über secrets that are discussed at the exclusive TKM ONLY meetings. muahha. Have fun n00bs and if anyone needs any help please post on this thread and keep those forums clean!

I expect this thread to be a womper so if you'd like to ammend some tips please keep the format please. Thank you!!!

This was exactly what I was looking for. I get a warm fuzzy feeling inside when I see people do this for no apparent gain, except to make other people happy.

THANK YOU!!!

Hunt Huurton Stalkers on Dantooie.

Send pet immitiately followed by Follow pet. Just 1 Huurton Stalker will attack ur pet. Use only KD and beserk. I always equip my VK's (after used KD).

Huurton Stalker missions are 9k credits. U gain 4k exp on them. There are 6 Stalkers in each lair.

O well its too easy actually. I make 40k exp each hour and 18k credits. Eventhough I dont play that much I'm confident that ill hit TKM

I tried Baznitches, but I died too many times on them cause they attack in pairs. So I bought my ticket to dantooine and tried Stalkers. I've been there since i gotten KD and never left. I never will

I would reccommend fort tusken (if you're talking about the cave north of Espa) if you have a party, but if you're soloing with your pet I wouldn't do it because recently after the patch -- the tuskens got harder and they agro pets through walls now and that could get messy.

Great post....

I'm close to master now, but I still fight on the main planets. I have never been to Dathomir or Dantooine, perhaps I should try them out. Looks like some descent cash as well.

Anytime you make a set of tips or guides for a professions advancement and the first step is something along the lines of "Get a pet" it's already a defunct strategy. There are many people who dont want to use pets. Like myself. The point is to be able to advance through the professions on your professions abilities. Not to have to waste skillpoints in another profession to be able to advance your own.

huurton stalkers are packminded, for the person who recommended hunting them earlier. they are social, and if one is close enough when you aggro another, it will also come. still, they are easier than baz imo since there are 2 at a time instead of 3, and the xp is the same.

and i agree with the comment about xp-ing on your own class' skills instead of having to rely on a secondary profession to pull the first through. the truth is, you don't need a pet to kill huurtons. if i can get them one at a time, i have no problem taking them down. all you need is doctor buffs and to make good use of the /intimidate command. keep em scared, and they only hit for 70-110ish. the only thing to worry about is your mind pool, as it will be a long fight, and a few hits here and there can really devastate your mind. not to mention that every hit hits mind at least a little. you should have high mind stats anyway (don't see why anyone wouldn't, to be honest).

you can make the argument that having doctor buffs is still relying on another class.that being the case, you are going to be hard pressed to solo anything that gives 4k xp of your own volition, on just minimal tk skill. spitting rawls give a hair over 2k and giant pekos give a hair under 2k. they are cl 24 and 22 respectively, and are good fights for me at 0011. talus is a wonderful place to hunt also. hunting crazed roba is easy as hunting chubas, and they give 900xp per. foaming vynocks are just as easy and give 1k. viscious haf duns are a fun fight and give 2k. wolf kimas give 1.8kish. giant dalyrakes give 1.6kish. i think torturs give 1k-3k depending ontype (meager, bull, etc) but i personally don't run into many.

so, if you want to truly solo, don't be so concerned with how much xp you can get in 1 kill, but rahter how much xp you can get over time.like, i can kill 5or more robas in the time it takes to take down 1 huurton, which is way more than what i get for hunting them. also, use intimidate, and raise unarmed toughness as quick as you can, the best offense is a good defense

Well, the game as it is now forces you to rely on hybrid templates to have any sort of power at all. You need healing and need a pet to be able to support yourself.

i support myself just fine without a pet.

jeez, if any profession can survive without a pet in the wild, it's tka. i mean, 90% of encounters in the wild are going to be melee and who is better equipped to take a melee pounding and dish one at the same time than tk?

you make a comment about being forced to rely on a hybrid template...well, it only takes 92 skill points to master most elite combat professions (bh com excluded). that leaves 158 (i think, too early for math hehe) points to put into other professions. now, the only way you are not going to have a hybrid template is if you don't spend those points, so i really don't see what the heck you are talking about. every character in the game is a hybrid of some sort. they aren't *forced* to, they just choose not to flush their remaining skill points

and it's not that you *can't* support yourself without a pet, it's just that it's *easier* to do so with a pet. that's the problem with people these days, so concerned with finding the easiest way. or the quickest way. what ever happened to the sense of accomplishment gained in achieving a particularly difficult task? for some, the journey is just as, if notmore, important as the destination, but for many, all that counts is the endgame.

to which i say, suit yourself

You can fine without a pet. But you can fight better with one. Simple as that. Its up to you one your personal stratgety. Nothing else support your local CH and buy a Gurreck from him/her.
