I feel like a grumpy old man. With these green newer TKs around. You dont need a pet, you don't need buffs. I had to hit TK Novice without VK without all the nice speed/dmg upgrades (at launch the situation was more horrendous than it is now and there were no resources for VKs or something..) so I had none of that and I have done all my XPing till master using just my class alone. No need for buffs or pets. Buffs help and I condone them but not to rely on them.

Put it this way. Learn to be optimal with only what you have. Then, only then will (pets ..eww) and buffs and such SUPPLEMENT the immense skill you already have. If you want to be a melee with all the tools at your disposal invest in Master Brawler. The arguement with BH and Commando is that they invest the most points in their class so they should be "uber".

Following the same logic, if you invest your points in MB as well as TK you will deserve the new found power you have. From a RP standpoint a TK without MB would only be a character specialized in the field of unarmed combat. This is the point of a TK, yes, but we are being engaged in PVE but many different types of adversaries and to master Brawler is to basically say that you are aware and equipped to deal with any melee situation, but your main power and focus is on unarmed combat.

I'd go for MB, but our most powerful PVP abilitiy Warcry2 is borked right now. Also dizzy is messed up as well and that effects MB as well as TK so solo-ing is a lot harder right now. Then again most of you people are solo-ing creatures so Dizzy never helped that much anyways.

This is what I did previous with MB + TK.

There were two timers, 30 sec on delay 30 sec on KD/posture moves. KD moves kept the mob down for 5 seconds. What I would do is Lunge2 the mob and get ontop of him and then Warcry2 it, Warcry2 guarantees it cannot hit you fo 20 seconds. You have a total of 25 sec to beat on the mob, 5 sec while its down then 20 sec once its up and you use Warcry2, by the time Warcry2 is over there will be 5 seconds left on the KD timer till you can KD again, and 10 seconds till you can WC again. Which totals up with leaving you 5 seconds of a vulnerability window where the mob will be able to hit you freely.

Hows that for self-sufficient strategy? No pets, no buffs. Unfortunately since WC2 is bugged right now the strategy wont work, till they fix it (and CSRs have told me they are aware of the bug)

To Nikolai_Xavierov and whoever else said stay in your profession and not to use a pet, I take that as an insult to the time I spent making this guide for the future TKMs. If you read the entire article, I'm not saying you didn't, but if you did I gave more ways to get xp if you don't have a pet. I'm sure you can get xp without a pet.. congrads but guess what.. I'll get master tka weeks before you do. On top of that, I'd like to see a novice tka take out a mutant baznitch or huurton solo, they are pretty strong.

mason2002 reguardless if meditation is a modified sitting postion or not, it still increases your regen. lol.

Azhreal when I started out, like I stated in the first paragraph alot of things were different then, but if I think back ... with the things that I hunted, I don't think I would of ever used meditate enless it was for forgetting to clone -- or in pvp.

Other than that I'd like to thank anyone who commented positively on the guide, I appreciate it.
I think most of, if not all, of my tips will help you. These are definately things that I didn't know, that I wished I knew before I knew them.

After a not-so-brief stint as a Fencer (UGH), I have been considering giving TK a shot. Thanks for taking the time to write a guide to give me a place to start. I don't know about the pet...my fencer has a GW now and while I like it, I kinda want to try and get the exp without having to rely on my pet cat to kill opponents in PvE. I know this will make things a bit harder, but I'm going to give it a shot.

Besides, the few TKs I've talked to have all been ultra nice....just like all 3 Fencers on each server

If you don't like pets and you don't like risk, then the best thing to hunt are Male Mamiens on Yavin. They yield about 1k XP each and are pretty easy to put down. Best thing is that they aren't social, which makes it really easy to slaughter a whole slew of them very quickly.

Mawgaxes on Yavin are also pretty good. They yield about 2k XP and are a bit tougher, but still pretty easy to put down. They are social, so you have to be a little careful and pull sometimes.

I disagree on meditate last...balance is useless right now in pve if you have a tank.

meditate DOES NOT INCREASE MIND REGEN

Meditate is a modified sitting position, thats what causes the increased regen.

Personaly i taken this route:

power I, II, balance !, II, meditation I, II, III, IV , balance III, IV

Im working on finishing power now. I wanted the most bang for the buck at balance II and i needed a power boost. I can not stress enough how much meditation IV rocks. I also wanted to see first hand the difference between med IV and TKM.

Banthas are a great source of early TK xp.

Intimidate is your best friend. balance II adds 15 UT. That 15% added melee damage reduction.

I no longer wear armor and i have no problem without using buffs.

Thanks for the information Exile. Yes, you were a little biased towards pets but it was great that you compiled how you got your success. The important thing is that people appreciate your help and use it accordingly, since I'm sure the amount of people printing this out and taking it as their new gospel islow (personally, I never thought to dabble and drop in CH. I'm still not gonna do it =^_^= I believe my build works justs as good, besides I'm prone to addiction so I'd probably never drop it).

So thanks again Exile.

PvP TIP 5:

Get a scatter pistol and keep it on your hotbar. Keep it equipped when asking for duels. As soon as the duel begins pop off the scatter, lunge, kd2, watch the guy who thought you were aBH die. People will always assume you are ranged unless you give them a reason to think anyway. I've never had someone who didn't know my profession start a duel at more than 15m which is within lunge range.

haha now thats funny. althou i usually equip my rifle so people think i have to run far to duel...but i tell them to stay close and they say " ohh well, its your loss".....haha sure...(thinks to self)but im not the one thats gonna lose

Yeah, but that rifle trick only works once for each person -- and 0 times for the people standing around you when you do it =)

I hate male mamiens they make the most annoying noises in the entire game.

yes exile, you gave tons of tips for xp-ing without a pet. <sarcasm>

tip 1: get a pet to tank

tip 2: get ch so you can get a better pet to tank

tip 3: have someone else's pet tank

tip 4:attack from max range so pet tank doesn't lose agg

tip 5: heal your pet tank

sounds to me like 5 out of 7 of your pve tips revolve around having a pet. the only xp tips you had that didn't include a pet were the one about meditation and the one about taking off your vk. great xp tips also, about your little tiff, if you can't take criticism and people having different opinions than yours, perhaps you should reconsider making a post on a public forum.

don't get me wrong, it is a nice thing to help out newbies.

while this certainly is a good way to level, it's not the only way. it's just the easiest way. like i said before, some people are concerned about the journey as much as the destination. they want to smell the roses as they walk by. if one of those people reads your guide and thinks 'oh lord, the only way i'm going to level is if i have a pet. this class must be weak' then what service have you really done the profession? no, for this reason it is always better to have multiple points of view. the fact of the matter is, while you *can* level with a pet, and probably much faster too, you don't *have* to. that's all we *evil people who disagreed with your guide and spat on your guide, with every intention of insulting and defaming* you tried to say (like the nice *exaggeration* there? hehe).

so, chill out, and stop being so darn defensive.
