Ok, a question for you the community - Something to get a little discussion going:

What do you feel makes you special as a Teras Kasi Artist?

Try to forget skills, and whether or not you can solo a saber-toothed heffalump etc etc (anyone seen those yet? Good grief they're hard ) , but concentrating more on the doctrine and philosophy of the Teras Kasi.

For example:

I envisage Teras Kasi as a somewhat insular, almost religious cult, close-knit, and wary of 'outsiders'. To me, the TK philosophy is one of indomitable spirit, and the will to overcome trials both physical and spiritual through the power of one's mind...

Let us know how you see the Teras Kasi. I do not believe there is a correct 'answer' here, so post your ideas and give our profession a little colour!

I see it more like the monks of shaolin temple or the warrior code of bushido

I see Teras Kasi as a discipline that lets an athlete use their body's energy to maximum effectiveness. A person that learns to control even the involuntary muscles of the body. Not so much a religion or cult as it is a practice and form of exercise that lets a person use their body to the maximum potential it can have. Healing quickly, speed of hand and foot with the ability to ignore large amount of pain.

well we get a monk title.... i see the Tera Kasi as a loner class pretty **edit** close to self sufficient if you ask me. My last character i RPed him in that way to give him a wandering monk character even quoting tao and buddha on occasion.. and a lot of people remember him that way. i think of the teras kasi as more of a mystical class for those seeking enlightenment and piece of mind.

The title Teras Kasi is exactly what Windsplitter said, if was not intended to be that way then they should not have namedthe classthat.

I dont understand the 1Handed bladed weapon we are supposed to use for a "Empty Hand" monk like class.

I think the title says it all.

Considering my character is training as a Teras Kasi/Creature Handler, I see him as a spiritual peacekeeper. A lone, disciplined, and well-educated fighter who shuns most technology (other than the basic things that cannot be ignored in the Star Wars universe), who tries to get "back to nature". And because of this, my character has a heightened sense of "oneness" with the animals of the land. He is self-reliant, but fights for the greater good of society. A Teras Kasi follows a strict code of conduct and philosophy, constantly trying to maintain a balance within his/her mind. Basically, a Teras Kasi Monk is the closest thing possible to a Jedi without actually being one.

I would have to agree with this one the most. IMO that is what the TKAs are. and I think I saw someone say something about being close to a Jedi without becoming one. Plus, we are TKAs, walk a thin line as well. Kinda like some Jedi do. The choices are "Do i use my skills to aid others, or look to profit and gain for myself". Just my thoughts on this

I see TK as a loner making their own way in the world with their own personal code of ethics and morals to guide them (chaotic alignment for DnD players), going there own way and doing what feels right to them regardless of the general concensus (though probably coinciding often).

This is how I play mine anyway, and as i'm a Smuggler to, following my own code and not the law is kind of a given anyhow, the TK side just embodies it

I see a TKA as someone who spends a lot of time training alone, someone who believes his strenght comes fromhis inner selfand grows more powerfull through intense trainingto increase hiscontrol overmind and body.

When with others he is often seen as a quiet type of person, maybe even a little mysterious. Not many people know what goes in his mind except maybe a select few he has allowed to come close to him.

He is bound to a code of honor in battle, not to a concept of good/evil, he will decide for himself what is the correct path to follow and whom to side with inconflict.

We are Shaolin type Monks who, if the time is needed, gather great warriors to destroy the dark jedi who disturb the peace. We were created to police the jedi because we believed we cannot trust that to themselves. We are hidden and if discovered, we are just living a peaceful life. Over time, it has become a way of life, but duty still calls. As of right now, we are a rare breed, since the jedi are extinct pretty much (EU not SWG)

In SWG, we are Monk warriors whose way of life is to preserve the beauty of nature. Over time, in SWG, we are now a common class, like Karate Student or Kung-Fu students. Yes is good, but there are too many.
