Normally I would not resort to such an obtrusive headline in order to get a point across, but I think it is time to bring back a great post written by one of our former Correspondents, Jherad, as well as add some things of my own.
Jherad wrote:
Forgive me if I sound like I am teaching people to suck eggs here, but there is one issue I'd like to offer my opinion on.
Over the last few weeks especially, parts of the forum have been perhaps a little negative. Whilst constructive criticism (of the profession) is welcome(?!), there can always be found a certain element who drag things down somewhat. Without naming names, or even identifying exactly what type of negative post I am talking about, let me offer a perspective...
I am quite sure the Developers in particular do not give weight to the opinions of 'Trolls'. We all know what I am talking about here, and though it can be incredibly hard to resist, there IS a way of dealing with posts and threads that make you angry.
No need to flame, no need to react, just... Ignore it.
That's right, simply let it go. The pace of new threads on this forum is SO quick that in some cases, posts which receive no responses are lost to the depths of 'page 2 and beyond' in a matter of an hour or two. From there, they disappear without a trace, and there is no way of saying 'I disagree' better than refusing to even acknowledge a message. If the original poster insists on reposting again and again, to 'bump' the message, they'll just look rather silly, and rather alone.
Let us fill this forum with new ideas, interesting experiences, requests for help and more. See a thread you don't like? Post a -new- thread (don't spam!) letting us know something interesting which happened to you recently as a TKA... Or let us know about that new way of doing things you discovered, which makes your life that much easier! Not only does it engender a spirit of family, but it helps keep 'That Type' of post away.
-Jherad
Now, we all know ignorance when we see it, or if we think there is merit we can generally discern from the tone of the post whether they are actually trying to start something or truly want to know. Here is a recent example:
Quote:
Facts:
- TK's can pretty much Tank about any creature.
- TK with it's combined toughness and Composite in near invulnerable.
- TK weapon accuracy higher than any other profession by leaps and bounds (Never miss).
- Power boost and mediate takes away from Doc profession.
- Dodge with Defense acuity make you gods in melee.
- Stacked with other profession increases the unbalance.
- Defense versus states with defense acuity work better than any other profession.
- About the BEST specials around that can be spammed ONCE PER SECOND while buffed.
Solution:
- Drop accuracy.
- Reduce toughness or not allow any armor.
- Take out meditation/power boost or reduce their effectiveness.
- Lower Dodge skill.
- Don't allow stacking with other professions.
- Drop defense acuity maximums.
Now, we all know that any Melee Profession can tank almost anything, and even moreso with a stacked template. We all know that, as TKs, we are nowhere near invulnerable. We all know our accuracy is high, as well as teh fact that we do miss at times. We all know that Powerboost cannot in any way compare to Doctor buffs. We all know that we get no benefit from Dodge, as Defensive Acuity is our Modifier and does not stack. We all know that any profession can stack templates and become unbalanced. We all know that Defensive Acuity does not work very well, and even have a Developer Response to prove it. And we all know that we do hit the speed cap (as we should according to our description).
Or how about ANOTHER example?
Quote:
Ok lets face it teras kasi is the strongest fastest most godlike profession next to jedi. And i think all the people who are tkm's and talk about getting a second damage type or something to make tk even more godlike needs to catch a clue because If one person can **edit** Kimogillas like they are dwarf nunas needs a good kick in the ass. I have been through many nerfs like the creature handler nerf and I think tk needs to join the club.
Do I really have to point out the ignorance shown in this post? I mean come on, just let the thread die and ignore the poster. They obviously do not have a clue if this is their argument. Do you see any type of supporting facts that can even remotely prove the statement?
Why even respond? Will it do any good to try to silence someone crying for nerf? No. It only fuels the flames. Obviously the poster of these "facts" does not have the true facts, let them have their post and just do not respond. Ignorance is something we should ignore unless someone is asking for input, not crying nerf.

I think alot of us just hate to see such things about our proffesion & feel that some correction is needed, even if we just post the one thing & then leave it to die. With the most recent thread I think many of us saw it & all started replying not expecting the same things to have been posted at the same time (I for one started where there was few replies & then got called afk, came back finished typing & then posted & there was alot of the same posted, I'd imagine it happened the same with a few others).
However I very much agree with what your saying, & I for one will follow this. The only thing that could be an issue is someone new looking at the forums & then taking these "facts" as fact, & geting the wrong idea about it, but I supose we could all just drop it a one star so once it hit's enough for them it's not vissible.
But yeah point heard & taken notice of.

I agree, and understand completely ![]()
And I know that it will still happen. This was just so that all of those who log on later will take notice and not keep it bumped
(hopefully anyway)

Sooooooooo......................Let me get this straight?
It really bothers you when someone comes to your board and cries for changes to your profession and they don't play that profession?
I was just looking at it from my standpoint and how it affects me.
You can't beat a Jedi 100% of the time, so you cry nerf in the Jedi boards.
Well my Weaponmith/Smuggler can't beat a Tera Kasi Master unstacked, so why can't I ask for TK nerfs/changes?

You chose to use the same line at the end of your last post, but i don't buy it. If you have issues then bring them up in a constructive manner that does not call for nerfs and you might get a true discussion. Personally, I'm not concerned about your ideas because you are definitely uninformed and looking to merely start some type of flame-fest. If you have issues and want to call for changes then propose changes, but make sure your facts are straight first.

I feel sorta bad for replying to those threads now, and I should know better because I give the same advice to others.
I wanted to respond to points made, because some of the posts recently aren't along the lines of "TKA sucks" but are trying to make a real argument. But most people who hang out here already know the facts and we don't really need to state the obvious.
So see this as my apology for being suckered into replies I shouldn't have bothered with.

Krayt, I'm very familiar with your posts. For the most part, I don't see you inciting anything. Yeah, bad news to feed the trolls but sometimes it seems you have to poke them a little to find out if they are really trolling.

Carissa, it is not a problem for you go to another professions boards for information. I believe if you have profession specific questions, the profession boards are a great place for that. If I have questions on buffs, vendors, factories, rifle specials, etc., I'm not going to the smuggler, pistoleer, or TKboards for that.
However, bringing compaints about a profession to that profession's boards just invites flaming. You could look at it like Alice Cooper walking into a Boston Pops concert and yelling "You suck!" at the 1st violin. That is very bad form.
If you come to this board -- just about any board -- seeking understanding, you will most likely get a wealth of information. Going to a profession board just to complain about that profession accomplishes nothing.

It will happen, and I understand that. However, I have no qualms with constructive discussion. Nerf cries are something I ignore (generally) and encourage the same ![]()
That being said, no harm done, and the poster has partaken in some constructive discussion since.
