Thread: TK without VK is pretty **edit** good!

Hey guys,

Look, if you don't like what I have to say, that's fine. I am only posting because I hear a lot of people really upset and I wanted to mention things that I really like -- maybe it might help you have fun...

Remember how many of us were saying we didn't want to have to use VKs? Well...

My damange on styles has gone UP since the patch - by a pretty good bit. The HAM cost for styling without knuckles is not bad for me. Now before I go farther, let me tell you my level:

I have Balance I Power II Prcision II - so I am a mid level teras kasi. If I put my knuckles on, you're right, it literally takes away half my health bar to use unarmed2. However, if I leave them OFF I takes almost NO HAM AT ALL and I do a decent ammount of damage. Not as much as I do with VK's but MORE than I used to do without.

Right now I'm finding that I can continue to hunt the things I hunted before the patch most of the time - only I have hardly equipped my knuckes at all. I've only put them on when I planed to do no more styles and go bezerk.

But using styles without knuckles is MUCH MUCH BETTER. I am not saying this doens't need fixed, I am saying the class is still fun for me by doing this, and I wanted to share it with some of you ... basically right now a TK without knuckle is better than a TK with -- and I'm not sure that's really a bad thing.

Yeah!! Without my VK's I can do an Unarmed hit 2 for 300 damage at 40 ham cost!

But wait a minute. I can hit for 280 with my VK's on with no special.

hahaha

Precisely.

More importantly though when you take a group out now to fight something with armor 2 or 3 that hits for 200+ and it costs you 200+ HAM to do a knockdown and you are only landing dmg in the 50 - 75 mark and it has 12k hp see how long you last.

Right now there is no tank class in SWG and the only way for a melee to possibly tank something (knockdown) was just penalized so harshly that its a joke.

On top of all this add in the fact that ranged can still run around kiting freely without taking a hit and it's easy to see why melee classes can only shake their head in sadness at how this make a person want to play a melee class.

"and it costs you 200+ HAM"

The whole point is that it is NOT costing 200 HAM to do a knockdown. It costs me about 40 HAM. And I am doing just fine after the patch with strategic use of knuckles. And I don't know, maybe my knuckles aren't good enough, but at my leave I am already doing about DOUBLE the damage without VKs by styling than I am with VKs and not styling. I think I said that in my first post and you just ingored it.

But whatever - go ahead and be miserable and pissed off as if I cared. The point is, I've been playing for several hours now after the patch and having fun while the rest of you have been freaking out and staging a nutty.

Try to hunt something that gives decent EXP, and let's see how much fun you have. If your idea of fun is walking around punting kreetles like footballs, yeah I guess you could call this fun.

But please, let's see how long you survive fighting something that actually gives good EXP. You will *NOT* survive w/o vibroknucklers and using things like unarmedlunge and unarmed dizzy.

What is the point of a weapon that is supposed to INCREASE the amount of damage you do, if it is decreasing it? That isn't RIGHT because it's a bug.

Why are special moves doing more damage to you than to the enemy? because they screwed up, it's a bug.

I'm sorry if you think that this patch is good for TKA, because if you do then I seriously think that you don't know what you're talking about.

When I was making sigs for PA boards, I wanted to represent what my planned character was, not my completed character. I actually didn't think about the fact it might make me look like I was saying I was a master. I have Power II, Balance I Precision Striking II, Master Brawler, nearly to Master Medic and on my way into the Doctor line.. A TKM with stat buffs and full heals will be fun.

If my signature seems misleading, perhaps I'll consider changing it...

*smiles* I just made 50,000 experiene in an hour or two at power II that's basically between 1,500 on the low end and 3,000 on the high end of the stuff I was fighting while I was running around doing missions. I'm hunting, whites, yellows and some reds - basically I haven't changed my hunting patterns at all. And I have been suviving very well with all of the above. In fact, got jumped by three whites and lived, without using a stim. Now, I did have to rest after that .... for about 60 seconds. *wink*

Sorry guys, it sounds to me like basically if you want to be negative, you can, but if you want to find ways to be successful, sure looks to me like that's possible. Ok, tabing back to the game..

I haven't even gotten to play tonight yet, but from what i'm hearing the changes (although buggy) are good for me too. I'm not a big VK user anyway once reaching master because I always thought of them as sucking to much HAM before so I've been fighting without them for the most part. I think the new (hopefully officially bugged) HAM costs go away soon for the integrity of the TKAs but If the other specials damage has been increased then WOOOHOOO!

Selwyyn:

There are two reasons of why you claim the new patch is no 'big deal':

1. You are married/dating/dreaming/wishing you were..........a developer.

2. You are ignorant, and have been playing EQ thinking it was SWG, and you posted your note on the wroooong message board.

Ooh, actually.... there is a third one.....

You are a CH that has 2 meatwall tanks. Unless you're a master CH now, TK is absolutely the worst profession in the game. Get a clue Sel, you can't possibly feel the way you want us to think you do.

In times like these, certain people want to bolster themselves by taking the 'other side' of arguments, but yer playing yourself. If you truly are enjoying the game still, Kudos! The thing is.... I'm not. And neither are many of people, so let them have their own perogatives, and keep your messages away from these boards.

This has nothing to do with me being negative, this has to do with the devs ****ing up and bugging HAM costs. CSR told someone that these outrageous HAM costs are a bug.

funny how you continually fail to mention what you are hunting, selwynn...
