Thread: Still trying to figure out how TKs are overpowered when I saw this happen

So I was sitting in front of the Rebel Outpost on Rori, meditating after a hard fought battle with some Imperials. Across the valley, I was watching some ravenous tortens grazing away. Next thing I know, they all begin to take damage. So I assume some brave group has decided to take them on. As I watch in awe, all 3 fall within a minute's time. Lo and behold, it was not some group of stouthearted aventurers, but a single fellow, totting a pistol. With no title above his head, he could of been a pistoleer, a bounty hunter, a smuggler... I had no idea for sure.

So as he passes me, I make the offhanded statement, "And they want to nerf TKs because we can solo 1 red con at a time, how is it that you were able to take on 3 at the same time."

He replied, "I earned it, I am a master."

Master or not, <insert any ranged class> are able to own in PvP, do much better than any melee in PvE, and yet we are the ones getting hit with the nerf bat. Please someone explain this.

i don't know why they won't fix pistoleers. Either that or boost melee. Our damage should be FAR superior to that of a heated burst of light. We have sharp things that cut(but don't make things bleed) and the abilities to break bones(represented by inflicting wounds?). Yay, letrs throw a parade.

My vision for TKAs....

If he was a master pistoleer he was probably using disarm shot 2 which is currently bugged to do an ae knockdown attack. Fuuuuuun!

There IS a such thing as SKILL...

Maybe the guy was good... .just because he was able to do it doesn't mean he was cheating. When I'm out in a group doing the new baz nitches (the aggro ones starting tonight) I single-handidly manage 4 or 5 at a time. Solo I can easily take on two rancors or three baz nitches on dathomir.

Sometimes people actually learn how to utilize all of their techniques.

He was most likley using the cheesy pistol whip pistoleers gets, which, is next on the nerf chopping block.

I stopped at Novice Pistoleer, dont have pistol whip, but, i went the way of TKA, and im having a blast, sure im not uber and go knockdown all the red mobs, but d amn it, im having fun

It was pretty sickening to me yes, someone on my server, impressive as it was, was able to kill a rancor by themselves. And of course, they used a pistol, and only an attack, that lowered them to a kneel position (maybe supression fire I don't know), to kill it.

So here I am, and i'm thinking, Now that must be some skill, but after I thought about it, no, not really. Kiting and tapping a key every now and then isn't doing anything that remotely calls on to talk about skill.

TK's need to use various skills to keep the enemies down, weak, and confused. If we don't, they will completely mangle us horribly because in order to be able to attack them, they have to be able to attack us. Can someone tell me please how I, a TK half way up the profession, is not able to last longer then 1 minute against a rancor without spamming kd, while a novice bh can kill a rancor?

The reason that melee get all the nerfs while the pistolteers and other ranged unbalances continue is because all devs play as ranged.

they wouldnt like to limit the fun there having.

Well... I've soloed a couple of Rancors now and I'm nowhere near Master TK. Using straight up Knockdown or Unarmed Lunge 2 in it's placemakes it just as easy for us too. You can make the fight easier for yourself by putting intimidate and blind to good use especially, but they aren't necessary.

It is overpowering for a pistoleer to have all the power/speed/accuracy of a TK, but also able to have all the range of a rifleman... but when it comes to being able to soloa Rancor, that just isn't that big of a deal for either class.

Hmm, well they are raising the cost of knockdown, that affects ranged users as well. Seems to go against that theory. In my opinion, the PvP damage reduction hurts melees much less than it hurts ranged. One-shot from ranged > one shot from melee. We can take off our knuckles to knock down, I don't think any other class can do their knockdown without their weapon. We do hit hard at close range, and even with the damage nerf we will take people down pretty fast I think.

Please show me just ONE game where ANY player should be able to take down 3 red-cons at one time.

That's all, just one.

There is such a thing as unbalanced.

I dont think they should nerf shooting classes. Nerf's never feel good, in fact exact opposite. But they should definately improve melee class.

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but you are a TK Novice according to your sig. He's a master level pistoleer or whatever. It could be that they were not conning red to him.
