Thread: Katarn Knuckle slicing

The new patch is apparently out. The smugglers are all talking about their slicing requirements. My question, does anyone know if bio-linked stuff can be traded for slicing purposes either before or after it is bio-linked?

If you could answer that one: Do you know what components we would need to get the best slice for our Knuckles?

Finally, if you answered the first two; Why do your fingers wrinkle when you leave them in water too long?

alright the Slicing system works like this, a Slicer for a eapon has three options. Weapon Speed, Damage, and Increased Critical. And each slice has a custamaztion % on it. when it gets to 100% u cant slice it anymore, but every slicer can slice the basic which is the first level of each of these, The second level you need a simple tool kit. I dont know what level requires but i do want to kno where i could get my hands on some lol

The Kataarn can only be traded before you equip it. Once you equip it, it becomes bio-linked and untradeable. So, no matter how cool it looks, don't use it till you've got it sliced.

At this moment (post 19 pub) the critical hit slice does not work.

You do not need a Master Smuggler to get the best slice on your weapon. Just a smuggler with Slicing IV.

A smuggler needs a delicate trigger to speed slice and an illegal core blaster to damage slice. These can be made by smugglers but most recently (after this last publish?) these items are being dropped in uberversion as loot. I've heard of delicate triggers being dropped by NS Elders, NS Sentinel, and Krayt. The illegal core blasters are being dropped by tier 4 & 5 Black Suns and Corsec mission spawn, although it seems that this is a really rare drop.

After you spend a lot of time in the water, your hands and feet start to look wrinkled. The simple answer for why this happens is because your epidermis, or outer layer of skin, expands as it absorbs water. This layer of skin is attached to the layer below it, the dermis, at certain places so those areas don’t expand. This results in a “wrinkled” or “raisin-like” look on your fingers and toes. While the epidermis does cover your whole body, it’s a lot thicker on the soles of your feet and the palms of yor hands, so the wrinkling effect is much more noticeable in these areas. I personally think that the water will also increase the elasticity of collagen (connective tissue which joins the dermis and epidermis) contributing to the wrinkling. Increase in collagen (type IV, I believe in this case) elasticity is the major contributor to wrinkles in geriatric patients.

MY QUESTION:

At TKM what is the best slice for a Kataarn knuckler? Is speed capped at TKM anymore? If so, it'd probably best to go the damage slice route, right? As TKM/MDoc I'm in for the long fight, so I mainly wanna increase my DPS. Which would be most efficient at doing this?

Huh?

- First and foremost, I support the S T F U and play theory. I also support the CU and the NGE. I am grateful that we have a game that continues to evolve rather than stagnate. Join the positive voices!

btw best way to slice the katarn knucklers is by sliceing to max damage and 2% speed and 3% crit hit cuz that will get fixed one day.

but with my 8% slice 2% speed slice it brought my knucklers up to 350 Base DPS .

it is really nice.

I've been out of the game since pre-CUrb and have only returned fairly recently. So tell me, does the speed slice actually do anything for a TKM? I remember that before I always used speed sliced VKs untill I hit TKM at which point my speed was capped (2.0 I think?). Is this still the case or have the game mechanics on this changed. Anyone know? If this is still the case, and you're TKM, wouldn't the speed slice best be skipped in favor of a better critical hit slice?

Excellent answers Doc!! I think you want max damage because if it gets too fast...speed cap - sure but also action becomes a factor.

My next question: How many slices in how many categories can I get? Max in damage, speed and crit or only one of those or a mix?

Ok. Improvements go as such:
Increase Attack Speed:
Order Total Bonus Customisation Rating
1 2% +20%
2 4% +20%
3 7% +25%
4 12% +30%

Enhance Damage
Order Total Bonus Customisation Rating
1 2% +20%
2 4% +20%
3 8% +20%

Increase Critical Strike Chance
Order Chance Customisation Rating
1 3% +20%
2 5% +40%
3 10% +40%

You can keep on making improvements till you customization rating reaches 100%. Looks like best bet is to max out damage and do 1 in both critical strike and attack speed. DarkB is right on the best slice. I just figured that out now. In order to get the second slice on damage you're going to need to get a simple toolkit, which is looted from mercenaries on Lok. For the 3rd slice you're going to need an illegal booster core, which is the space loot drop I mentioned earlier.

Once again Doc, thanks for some excellent answers. Now if I could only find a MSmuggler with the Illegal damage core.

Go about getting the Core yourself. It'll be easier, faster, and cheaper than finding a MSmuggler with 1 of their own. Don't forget about the Simple Toolkit from the mercenaries on Lok. Then stick an anti-decay kit on it after the slice 'cause u'll have d nicest TK uberweapon out.

+4% speed slice is a 25% customization. total speed slice=100%.
