Jedi Revamp Phase I

"Always in motion is the future". On January 23rd, we announced that the Jedi system would be revamped from the current system to a more quest based way to become a Jedi. As you may guess, this system will be kept under wraps, but we can dispel some of the rumors and talk about the philosophy. Off the top, players will continue force development on their existing characters and a new character slot will become available to the player to develop as they choose. A player will only have two slots ever available but they can develop both slots as they wish. The system as it currently exists will be completely swept away (with the old republic?).

This first phase of the Jedi revamp focuses on the core of the Jedi system. Being a Jedi will dramatically change as the possible paths to Jedi mastery will now have many different elements to suit different play styles. Advancing down the path of Jedi will start with basic force sensitivity which will be open to all players to create a sense of the force. If players wish to pursue it, they can develop their force sensitivity in minor ways without sacrificing their original character concepts and even enhance their characters to have that certain special something that isn't quite tangible - - a sensitivity to the force as seen in the movies and EU. Should they wish to continue, players can follow a PvE path of Jedi development from Padawan through learning the various force disciplines to become a full fledged Jedi Knight. Jedi Knight is yet another beginning to a new path of development. Once players have become a Jedi Knight and still hear the call, they can enter a whole new level that splits off to light and dark Jedi paths where forced Jedi PvP will gain you force ranking and possibly a seat on underground Light and Dark Jedi Councils. May the Force Be With You.

Do you guys know what this means? Soon we could augment Master Tera Kasi skills with force powers!

Think of Mace Windo when he took on all of those Super battle droids without his lightsaber! (From the Clone Wars Cartoon)

This is the moment I dreamed of... I never wanted to become a Jedi in this game, but having force sensitivity would be great to enhance my existing character.

What do you guys think?

Well I would Imagine that we would get some kind of low level force healing ability and possibly some simplified versions of force push and forcerun.

So the Jedi discipline has been reduced to just another profession to be dabbled in? I think this game has just taken a 180 degree turn in the wrong direction.

Whats wrong with Dabbling?

The dev vision of this game was that people could come up with a template that works for them, What is the fun if everyone is walking around As a Master Bounty Hunter? If you didn't have dabbling then everyone would be the same and seeing a bunch of Master Bounty Hunters would be boring.

I use Bount Hunter as an example because that is the most limited class in the game.

And don't make it out to be the end of the world, you have to open your force sencitivity before you can even begin to dabble. The devs already said that they wern't gona make it any easier than the current system.

I'm torn. I agree with you on this point (you can look at some of my first posts and see how adamant I was that the removal of permadeath would ruin the game as well), but I also really look forward to it for a change. I guess we'll see.....

I never wanted to play a Jedi in this game, but I just might pursue it now... Naturally not with my main character though I enjoy my TKA - Smuggler too much.

No longer holding out hope, SWG will never be the game we fought so hard for, that we believed so much in. Farewell friends.

Wow!

What an awesome vision, a complete spectrum from force sensitivity all the way to political positions on the Jedi Council.

It really can't get better than this. There is something for everybody. I believe this must have been something like the original concept but pressure from the players gave us the workaround of profession grinding. It is ambitious and immersive - in fact everything the current system isn't.

Hats off to SoE, if they can pull this off, I'll be handing over my 30 bucks a month for some time to come.

Hi

I think that this is a skill based game, so... Dabbling is correct. All people dabble in at least one prof.
Most the people have novice medic to use stims or novice scout to harvest. Dabbling is a nice feature of this game, imho.

I think this sounds great. I would hate to see a platoon of jedi walking around. That is what would have happened if they kept the old system or if they just changed how you accessed your FSCS. With this, and maybe I am misreading it, it sounds like you can do whatever you want with your force sensitivity. Meaning your FSCS could go full on Jedi or Force Adapt/TK or whatever and that once you open your FSCS you could add Force Adapt powers to your original. DId anyone else draw that meaning or did I misread it? Personally I would be much happier to just pick up a few Force abilities and not have to go the whole Jedi route, and to me this is much closer to the Star Wars we all know and love. I can recall several characters that were FS but few in this era that were Jedi. Wow im kinda excited...

Much closer vision to the reality portrayed in the EU. The galaxy was full of "force sensitive" individuals. Some who were aware of certain "abilities" and others who were not. This is a very promising turn.
