So the Jedi discipline has been reduced to just another profession to be dabbled in? I think this game has just taken a 180 degree turn in the wrong direction.

No one is saying Jedi will be this way. If you want to go Jedi you go Jedi. However there is the option to take only some Force sensitivity. Look at Characters from EU like Cam Solisar(spelling?) or even Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa. The list goes on. Hell there are even some people that would say that in a way Han may have had a little Force Sensitivity and that accounted for his "luck". I think this adds a new depth and a much more interesting angle to the Jedi issue.

As far as powers I am guessing they may give Force Adapts the more commonly used powers like the Force push, maybe some type of precognition in the form of defense bonuses. I would love to see the Vader Choke but hell I dont care what we get.. just sounds a lot more interesting then starting from scratch and not having the ability to dabble.

I think this will be avery good thing....

But only if they make the quests long. Very long. We dont need 1000 jedi on each server. I wish someone would explain a little more of their plan. Something about how the FSCS will work now, or will it even exist?

How is the credit supposed to work for people who have already done 3-4 professions? Will they start further along the path than others? All this stuff would be good to know so we arent left in the dark.

Whats wrong with Dabbling?

The dev vision of this game was that people could come up with a template that works for them, What is the fun if everyone is walking around As a Master Bounty Hunter? If you didn't have dabbling then everyone would be the same and seeing a bunch of Master Bounty Hunters would be boring.

I use Bount Hunter as an example because that is the most limited class in the game.

And don't make it out to be the end of the world, you have to open your force sencitivity before you can even begin to dabble. The devs already said that they wern't gona make it any easier than the current system.

Dabbling isn't bad.... But I don't think jedi abilities should be something we should be able to dabble in.. I hope the post is a bad interpretation of the way they intend...

My understanding was you would have a force sensitive character to follow the path to jedi, if you chose, rather than unlearn skills and relearn over and over..

First of all, This was announced on Jan 23rd, thats like 3 months ago, i havent heard a thing about it since. Guess what, we wont see this go live for another year guaranteed.

I mean for christ sake it took them 6 months to fix a bug that wouldnt let tusken masks drop anymore and for some reason nightsisters or force sensitive npc's lost their force power. Game is bugged, always will be bugged, I opened up a PC game magazine from like september and they said this same exact thing that the game is terribly bugged. Think about this for a second too, these ideas 3 months ago were concepts at the time, now they have to create the quests, create new artwork, actually build the quests in the game, and then EXTENSIVELY Beta test them. Mark my words like everything else in this game, people will find a way to easily exploit this due to a bug. (for example nym's carbine quest, you dont need to do all the missions for his guards, you can talk to the first guard, delete his mission, then talk to nym and get the carbine instantly after performing a siomple task or two cmon!) Think about How Long the Krayt Skull Quest has been broken for!! There are NPC's in the game that have been broken since day 1 or 2 of the game that worked, then stoppped working!!! Also Credit Duping, Borgle Caves,Double Slicing, Being Able to master image designer in 2 hours, Vehicle Auto Fix, Double Mind Buffs, Combat Spamming, Double orTriple Health action buffs,Cave Camping/Auto Looters, Being able to generate 3 level 50 creatures at once and control them, the list of bugs is endless!! there are new ones almost everyday. I think someone estimated that Trillions of credits were duped over all the server, not sure if this was a SOE figure or someone else but i did read that somewhere, and i have no doubt its true

I forsee this happening, they will make jedi quest driven(in a year or more minimum)someone will find the bug in the quest, and 2 hours later there will be a thousand new jedi on each server, its bound to happen c'mon! They say this is going to happen in Publish 9 also!!! ya no way!! AND they are supposedly working on space expansion to be out by october, NO WAY!

Sorry if i sound so negative, but i have ZERO faith in the devs, i have had houses disappear with millions of merchandise and after exhausting all possible channels i got NOTHING back in return, house just went POOF bye bye with 2 vendors inside. all stuff gone. I was the owner of the house and the maintenance was paid for 200+ days. never transfered and i planted the house and made the deed. I have heard dozens upon dozens of horror stories in dealing with bugs and game issues.

In my honest opinion, i think the Jedi system is fine the way it is now! i have grinded dozens of professions and have had time to fully explore the game, then when you finally unlock the satisfaction is immense. And think about this, They say they are going to make these quests Extremely Diffucult Etc etc. BUT What Possible Quests Could they POSSIBLY Add into the game that arent already there. There is Deliver, Destroy, Craft.

This is a game thats all about numbers, not about playing skill like a normal video game. Once you look beyond the game interface, its really all about the numbers, For a Player its about Armor Percentages, Weapons stats, food stats, buff stats, spice and stimpack timing, Damage Per Second etc etc. And When engaging an enemy, you can examine his resists and KNOW from the start whether you should WIN OR LOSE. (not taking into account bugs in the game like armor holes etc)

But think about this, This whole game can be a Screen Full or numbers and Formulas, like a role playing card game, OH WAIT! thats what it really is, a roleplaying game, just with a nifty interfaceand thats all it will ever be!!! The Screen Might as well have green scrolling numbers (like the matrix) Everyone is trying to Balance Combat and Skills and Jedi etc etc, They Do Not Need a Software Developer, they need a MATHMETICIAN TO FIX AL THE UNBALANCES! Buy a calculator guys, get on the ball!!!

anyway that was longer than it should of been lolol, and dontget me wrong, i love this game, but i love it for what it is, a roleplaying game, nothing more, nothing less, and im gonna play Knghts of the old republic heehe

Anyway after that long rant and reading the original topic lolol, what COULD be done to add "force powers" to an existing character is to give him lets say 50 Jedi points to play with. and Each Skill "Tier" will have a 5th Box on top which will cost 5 or 10 points to get, and that will allow you to utilize force power

So like For TKA Tier 4000 would be Meditation, but there would be a fifth box 5000 and That would allow lets says a Stronger Powerboost or Some Sort of Self Healing Ability Like Jedi Have.Another Example would be 0400 would have a 0500 box that has a Force Knockdown Box.

Then on top of that, There would be a "Master" box, that Sits on Top of All the Boxes, so if you spent lets say 5 points on each box in TKA, there are 4 boxes, there should be a master box ON TOP of Master TKA that Costs 10 Skill Points that gives you something Else New! who knows i didnt think this out too well but this is a good start i feel.

Anybody got any better ideas!! lets here them lololol

you are correct i will agree with that, But i would think most people would agree that this game does not follow the jedi timeline too well as far as amount of jedi, and now they want to have a jedi council? i love the idea, but again i feel it doesnt follow the trilogy too well. is there even a jedi council during the GCW? Now i understand its a game, i would say 50% of people or more would want to be ajedi or have the subaccount to go that path if they choose, but no one wants to hologrind possibly 30 profesions to achieve this. i dont know anymore, bottom line is its a game, i have fun playing it and enjoying the company of people online and actually achieving "status" for lack of a better word in the game. I dont like dungeon and dragons and wizards and elves and witches and spellweaver type games, dont like that mythology at all. And i somewhat like star wars thus this game being i feel, a one of a kind game in that right. i am going to take a look at www.coh.com though, signed up for the beta test today lol, not the same at all, but another good alternative it looks like, there is also a monthly comic book that gets written by what happens inside the game if that makes sense, you affect the storyline of the comic book monthly, what a cool idea lol

Just a question for all the Jedi purists on here... Since when could ONLY JEDI be force sensitive and use some Force powers??

Ah wait I figured out the answer....... NEVER, not every force sensitive person chose to wield a lightsaber and answer to the title Jedi. I would rather see 10000 force sensitive players using minor force powers than see 100 Jedi. The Jedi Order is dead at this time. The Sith are not the type to share their power. Hence Jedi should be a no-no.

Well Ok thats the other thing, this screws with the timeline of the entire game and storyline. Sith are Long since dead between the time of star wars 1 and return of the jedi. Why are there hundreds of jedi floating around, and why/how are normal people/players "achieving" these powers

Mike, have you ever seen the movies or read any books?? People dont Achieve FS they just are. And that was the point I was making. A lot of players would be happier adding in a little bit of Force Adapt or whatever they end up calling it to their template then becoming Jedi. This is directly in line with the storyline of the movies and books. Millions of people were FS and not all of them knew this, they just chalked it up to luck (Han Solo maybe) or they just thought that it was some other factor. Leia showed her FS in Return of the Jedi. If you recall she senses Luke being in trouble. Later she trains to be a jedi and quits to pursue her life as a politician. So how does allowing characters to add a little bit of force power and I am sure they will be minor ones, to their character change what Mr. L has been doing for going on 30 years?
