Thread: Best Post-Nerf PvE TKM Template?

I've read forgery's excellent TKM guide -- especially the suggested TKM templates. But I remain unclear as to what the best TKM-based PvE template is, since defense mod stacking was capped at 125.

Forgery recommends TKM/Master Brawler plus climbing most of the swordsman/pikeman/fencer trees. But I've also seen recommendations that Rifleman still makes for a good PvE template.

Anyway, I'm presently TKM/Master Brawler and I'm really enjoying the TK combat style. I had no idea it would be this much fun -- it's much more gratifying than MBH, which I used to be. (Call me crazy!)

I'd appreciate any recommendations.

On another board, someone just offered that Master Rifleman is still the best PvE combo? Really?

If you can't get buffs from elsewhere...... TKM/Doctor

What about the master brawler bonus attacks? Do you find them at all useful?

Maybe I'm missing something, but I still don't see the combat benefit of being Master Doctor. Sure, you can heal yourself and buff yourself, but isn't that compromising your ability to have a better offense and defense? If you can afford buffs, why bother with Doctor? If you want to be a good melee tank, with all the best defenses and specials, wouldn't you stick to melee-related professions?

Master Brawler is a little better for PvP than PvE,because there is not too much of a difference inWarcry2 and Intimidate2, the lunge two is useful for a fencer, but not a TKM. The reason Master Brawler goes well with TKM in PvP,is because you can hit em with a knockdown from a galaxy far far away.

Thanks. So TKM/Master Brawler is better for PvP than PvE? Yeesh. And the purpose of Doctor in PvE is to ... help you last longer? Say, you're fighting a nightsister elder ... Will TKM/Master Doctor keep you alive the longest or will having a good offense (assuming you're already buffed, of course)?

It isn't just the buffs and heals, although you shouldn't underestimate just how much a M Doc can heal when they have good mind and brandy, there are also all the cure state effects. The ability to instantly take off Intimidate and Stun ensures your hits are full power, instant dismissal of Dizzy means that KD is a minor inconvenience and a CM's poison is no more than a bellyache. A TKM can take off poison and disease with meditate but, if he is stunned, intimidated or dizzy, he can't sit down, so meditate isn't an option.

Sold! Thanks so much for taking the time. I think I'm convinced. Farewell Master Brawler? *sob*

Becoming a master doc also allowes for a great source of income due to sellingbuffs. Im a TKM and a Master Doc and Im going to find it hard to drop any of skills.

TK Master

Master Doc

Scout 1-0-0-0

1 skill point remaining

Thanks. Guess I'll go Doc next. At this point, with Master Brawler/TKM I can't master doc, but I could go 0430, which would allow me to self buff and heal.

Interesting. So why would you argue that instead of the TKM/Master Doc everyone here is suggesting?

Thanks!
