Thread: DO TK's NEED MULTIPLE DAMAGE TYPES?

lets be honest.
if your a pistoleer a rifleman or any other type of ranged combatant you have a choice of damage types
but as a tk you have kinetic
do we need more damage types as discussed here: http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=Chimaera_Euro&message.id=67509
or are we just whining
why not a blunt vk for kinetic
the current bladed vk become slicing damage
and a laser bladed vk for energy damage
maybe even a bio vk that can hole bio engineer made acid cartridges or poison or explosive type charges for flame damage
the options are endless
as pointed out in the above url the only think we do is kinetic and as most high end mobs have up to and above 80% kin resist we are not overly affective.
im not saying make our attacks do more, just give us the option all other classes have and thats a range of damage types.
and befroe you flame me with...what about polearmes and swordsmen.... you get loot drops with different dot type weaps
when was the first or only time you ever saw a night sister VK???? thats what i thought...never

We don't "Need" a new damage type. Kinetic is fine as we can attack all parts of the body, apply every state, have meditate/pb/fow and have AP1 allready. 
but it would be nice to have some vary.

ya but try fighting a sbd in the death watch bunker....everything in there has been custom made to withstand the might tkm slap in the face hehehe
i just see more and more mobs that are tkm resistant...t'would be nice to have an opion...ill happily trade of med for that.

I really enjoy being a TK and having only kinetic damage. It makes sense.
Personally, I'd like to see the VK's go away and get an added damage boost at master with natural ap1. I would re-cert VK's at novice brawler and remove the cert as soon as someone hit TK Novice.
Fencer is pretty limited in their damage types as well. Their only AP1 weapon is trash and only rare stun batons are actually useful.
Our accuracy, speed, damage modifiers, andstate abillities really set us apart from most classes. Again,after the combat balance, I think most TKs will have nothing to complain about.

also are'nt we tk's supposed to be desendants of clans that dedicated there selves and art to a style of fighting that was anti jedi?
lets be honest...you hardly a match for a jedi know...especially when he knows he has only one damage type coming at him....gimme a stun vk...that ought to shake them up a little hehe

you said it for me...'rare' stun batons...at least they get drops....i wouldnt mind if there was a chance however remote , that i might oneday find a loot vk with a dot....

Yes we do.
We are the only profession that has restriction reguarding the mob we can fight. Every other combat prof can fight in a way or another all the mobs in the game.
But I don't think we need a new VK.
What I would like is an ability that allow to change damage type only, nothing else, when fighting unarmed, meaning it doesn't work with a VK, you have to remove it.
And it doesn't last forever.
This way, well have the new damage type, but with a serious damage reduction, making it only usefull in the situation where we do need it. When kinetic is useless.

oh and before i get flames...its my opinion that as far as ranged goes thay need to introduce ammo..so that you can shoot acid from a tuskan rifle or a high explosive Ap tiped round fron your carbine should you so choose...balance it by making the condition loss the same as overcharge shot 1 but at least give ppl a few options
at the moment we are all clones with clone weapons....im yet to see a decent mmorpg that allows you to choose from a set of skins when making any weapon....or altering the color, the same sort of options we are seeing in vehicles etc

Having only one damage type is a built-in gimp to TK. I would oppose having the devs give us another damage type, because if they look at us closely, they made decide we need a nerf. We don't. We are one of the few working professions in the game.
All the devs need to do is put in a hard cap for defenses- no 100% resist to anything!

No. No new damage type.
TK is sweet, don't mess with it. You want other damage types? Use the massive number of remaining skill points to get em. And if you've spent them already then you've made a choice about the type of character you want, one with only kinetic damage.
You can't have everything, where would you put it?

I just think there shouldn't be such a thing as 100% resistance to kinetic damage.
I can understand something being immune to heat. Biology can make things that don't mind intense heat.
I can understand something being immune to acid. Chemistry can neutralize acid.
But kinetic? Come on. 99% resistance, maybe. But 100%? Not possible. Take a sheet of titanium and start beating it with a hammer. Notice any difference? Probably not. Keep beating for an hour. Slight difference? Probably.
The most powerful force responsible for the shape of worlds is erosion. What is erosion but slow, gradual, kinetic damage to something.
