Maybe the majority of us are wrong and there is no problem ...maybe we are all doing something drastically wrong...I would like someone to allow me to witness this for myself ..then i will post what when where how... i want to see the mob you are killing ham bars ..see what aggro is around ...see your ham bar ..see whether your using a pet or a doctor or have someone healing you.see what sort of down time you have.see if some exploit is involved intentional or unintentional..personally i think tka should be a stand alone class as was intended when i created the character.

If no one will offer me to witness this killing of reds ..i will be tend to believe this is just an attention getting ploy to be different and to stand out from the rest of us ....bad attention better than none i guess. If the latter is true you are hindering all efforts of us ever getting back to where we should be as master tka's ..those of us that are at that level

I read the posts every day many are well verse and good points are made by people like bigritche or sin-tors screen shot that speaks for itself or the fellow that was claiming the game engine has limitation problems with range location.

I can hardly wait for the first jedi to appear ..wonder if they to after playing a month and half will be nerf also

i'm halfway to TKA master so stuff that is red to me isn't necessarily all that hard, but i can kill lower-level red mobs.

i have pets, but they are low level and don't outdamage me so i do the tanking (cu pa power!).

i heal myself mid-fight.

i remove VKs to knockdown and don't do any other specials.

mobs this level don't resist KD and i don't miss them.

all damage is self-inflicted.

it takes a long time and i don't do it intentionally but sometimes i get jumped.

.............
but i'm not saying there's nothing wrong. there's alot wrong. i have to do the exact same thing to kill blue mobs also because i have NO DEFENSE.

the ONLY way to kill anything that isn't a 3-hitter is to use KD because otherwise we get torn up. KD is my only defensive skill and it hurts. having to swap VKs off and on through a fight hurts, but if i leave the VKs off, i swing too slowly!

it's just messed up on so many levels...alot of little stuff adds up.

so yes, i can kill low-level reds. but i can't kill a green snake due to range issues....

that makes more sense

however, lower level TKAs are seen doing it and it perpetuates the myth that TKAs are overpowered. (i'm still waiting for the birth of the myth that cu pas are overpowered.)

maybe it would add balance if TKAs got a discount on clone fees.

i have some experience with stuff that cons red to a large GROUP of mid-level characters, and these mobs are ONLY manageable to the entire group with knockdown moves (a doctor is really useful here). once again, the "tanks" have no other defense.

it's not exactly the same issue, but it amounts to the same thing: if KD isn't an option, something else has to be. KD is now a very poor option, but it's still the only one. i'd like to see some defensive skills that work, cuz i can't solo a blue without KD and/or alot of downtime.

Good points Blackdahlia. I actually had another TK Novice (a Rodian no less) claim to me that he could solo a red. I laughed at him - his other profession is Musician

Using a pet isn't technically soloing, but it's enough help that I'm redefining my character to include just a little bit of CH. My probot has been worthless since they nerfed them 2 weeks ago.

I just want to remind everyone of what Raph said in his huge balancing thread over on the main board. He mentioned that the only class that wasn't complaining much were the pistoleers, which in his mind meant they need to be "revisited", aka NERFED.

So be careful what you brag about. It could bite you worse than the HAM costs on a good Knockdown.

I have witnessed my TKM friend take down a red (watched it on his screen) however don't flame me for saying that, because I'm sure you'll want to flame me for this instead.

Frankly, Teras Kasi Masters shouldn't be able to solo things that con red to them anyway. Here is the definition of Red from the manual:

RED: WELL ABOVE YOUR SKILL LEVEL. RED TARGETS ARE INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS AND WILL **ALMOST ALWAYS DEFEAT** (AND MOST LIKELY KILL) YOU

PAGE 97

When I said Teras Kasi should be good in PvE, I never meant that at master they should be able to solo a krayt. In 90% of situations something that cons RED to a master ANYTHING should kill then. If there are classes out there where the master elite profession can solo reds, those classes should be nerfed.

During the last few weeks, the argument has shifted slightly. On the first few days after the patch, you had nearly every kind of teras kasi, masters and non masters, furious about the patch. Non-masters were saying things like "blues kill me now" and "fighting takes 900 points from my HAM" (when obivously it only does that if you are stupid enough to leave VKs equipped.) Alot of the responses from me and handful of others were along the lines of, this patch sucked, but you are also full of crap. Now in the last few days, the argument has been refined. There aren't as many non-masters making those kind of claim about how impossible it is to play the class anymore. Now there are a lot more masters challenging other masters to come solo a red for them. Well that's fine, because I've seen it done in the right circumstances, without using an exploit that I am aware of (though probably having some medical skills) - so I wish someone would take them up on the offer.

But in the end, it doesn't really matter. Because I don't believe any master should be able to solo anything that still cons RED to him at MASTER level except by some fluke miracle of luck.

no one is saying that master TKAs should be able to solo reds (not here at least).

the point of the post here is that some people say that master TKAs CAN solo reds when they probably can't.

so...why is it ok that a lowbie TK can solo reds? (i admit it's unlikely that a master TKA can solo reds now.) they shouldn't be able to.

(and i suggest that using pets IS soloing because it's a skill anyone can have, just like medical skills. unless you want to have unused skill credits, you are not JUST a TKA.)

I can still solo reds, albeit, very inefficient. But Mountain squills (CL 34), and higher level Tuskens (Chiefs, Captains, etc.. CL ???) by using Knockdown, combined with Dizzy/Lunge

These mobs are about 4000 Unarmed Combat xp each solo, but it's almost not worth it, because a Mountain Worrt (CL 22?) gives about 2000 xp, and is a lot easier to kill (same strategy, without the dizzy/lunge, just use 3 KD's or so), with very litte down time.

Mountain squills are starting to yellow out now though (grouped with just one other person), so, I'm assuming they won't be red for much longer....

Either way, I'm not joining the argument, just stating my situation.

Will be down to 3 boxes til TKM tonight.

I cant kill a red. Almost every time they will just destroy me. I dont have a pet though, I heard CH TKA can handle some reds.

I could though kill some barely red things, but the downtime after such a fight is just not worth the fight. It seems more efficient to fight lots of blues in a row.

When you are a Master TK; and you begin to fight a red - in group or solo - you have to realize they can occasionally get a nice round critical hit in that could kill you in 1 swipe.

i'm not saying we should beable to solo reds ...we should not beable to ..no one should ...but i've seen claims on here of people soloing reds ..i just cant see it at master level ...if someone can prove it to me fine ...

however i also dont think all our higher skills as tka mastershould become absolutely useless ...what was the point of becomming a master if we cannot use the skills? we are injuring ourselves more than the mobs are.. sin-tor's screen shot is a fine example ...some blues should not be giving us trouble or whites and yellows should be 50/50 .

I could kill reds, such as Tortur Bulls& Dalyrakes, even as a TKA Student/Novice Pistoleer; however, I would open with Bleedshot 1 & 2 then Berserk with VKs. I won against red cons at least 50%of the time.

It doesn't seem like I can do that anymore because I have been getting annihilated by reds as of late due to the (secret?)TKA nerfs.

IMO, Elite Master Combat Professions should be able to solo reds (except for boss monsters), or else what is the point of leveling to Master status?

There is on really good point being made for sure. A Teras Kasi master who has the rest of his/her points in say, Architect and Chef is probably not going to solo a red like a Teras Kasi Master who has the rest of his points in say, Creature Handling and Medic.

But I don't really consider that a problem do you? Again I say I don't think as a general rule a master anything should be able to solo the highest possible red conning mobs in the game. But I think that if you want to have a change to even up those odds a little bit then you should have to invest your skills in a way totally deisgned toward that end. If TK/medics or TK/Creature handers do better than the TK/nothing or the TK/Image designer, I really don't have a problem with that.
