anyways my whole point to this thread is people claiming to kill reds at master "leet kewl dewds" are going to ruin any hopes of us getting any sort of fix..

also my point is as you go up the tka tree shouldnt your damage output go up ? higher defense and less ham ? my experience after nearly 10 years of online gaming is new skills should benefit you not kill you....just seems all out of whack to me ..

as for other professions i have level three dirty fighting some pistoleer and novice medic for those nifty stim pack b's and scouting so i can flee from those mobs i try and melee =p

I'm a TKA 1,2,4,2 and can solo reds - up to about 6k HAM. But I am also novice medic and have to use high powered stims at least twice per fight. I have not tried drugs yet though. This is what works for me sometimes. Usually Iget incapped and it can take three tries to finally kill the thing. But I have tried all types of combinations of moves and always end up hurting myself more and doing less damage.

KD, Dizzy,Berserk, equip VK, equip Ubese chest and leggings, stim-B,berserk, stim-B(most are macros)

If the first KD doesn't work I'm screwed. If Berserk doesn't work the first time I'm screwed. And it is not efficient as I have to sit and heal for 10 - 15 min after each fight, not counting the incaps. But it is fun.

Oh, and I forgot. A friend of nmine is a master medic and pistoleer. He has no problem fighting red cons (red from his point of view). He does over 700 healing per try and yes has to heal a couple times but ends up with less damage than I do from the same mob. I also went out with a BH and he had no problem. Because of their KD, the creature never even got close (equip CDEF Carbine, KD, equip laser rifle wait until KD wears off and repeat).

TKA's are suppose to be the bad a*** in the game not the wussies.

I believe you just by tone of your post =D I'll go try it out myself with my stim pack b's ...but what is annoying to me is not being able to use my higher tka skills to their full potentional because of the ham costs ..with no real defense combined with ham costs its suicide to use them on anything challenging ...what is the point of being a master tka ?

Unless you have a medic dedicated to healing you and only you during battle, TKA's can no longer tank tough MOB's even with pets involved. I've realized this and accepted it, so now, I let the ranged group members and pets start the attack and THEN I come in and go to work onMOB's. I gain slightly lessunarmed xp, but I get alot less downtime needed for healing and more importantly, I live to keep fighting without dying.

it all depends what level u are and what level red the enemy is... i can take out some rebs that are reb... and there are some red rebs i cant take out... like a trooper may be red... and i can kill it alone, no healing, no pet, but its not like i can take out a general or anything... least i dont think so... or a free agent, those guys are mad strong... but generally i just blind, maybe dizzy... kd1 a few times... and whoop it's a$$

it all depends man

Jammyn i tried the nym elites ..something isnt right the most they con to me was yellow some were even blue and white didnt see any red con ones at all ....are you tka master ? i was doing great btw till i got aggro by a 12k hp npc while killing a nym =D oh well was fun and put some fun back into my playing ...but its still discouraging that my higher level skills on such mobs are worthless ....being a doctor makes it much easier for you with buffs and such ...i'm just using stim b's

I could go off on this for a very long time. There is a difference between your everyday average red, and a deep red. I almost wish they invented a new con: Purple.

Certain mobs would fall into this category. Nearly all FS npcs, as well as Krayts Kimos Gorax, etc. THese creatures will not by almost any means be KD. 1/50 tries may net you a KD, but they might also have fallen down due to dizzy. These creatures fall into the > 40 challenge range. Even at master TKA you will not knock them down. In these fights, we are truly utterly useless. 2 hit incap if we are lucky, and then down go the ranged users in one hit. But my question is why? If you are not prepared for the combat or rush foolishly into the fight, you probably deserve to die. These are the ultimate challenge. They are the reason doctors and chefs exist, and composite armor has crazy encumbrance.

I can solo near reds, but they usually have sick armor, and i nearly incap myself with KD costs. They hit me once, and I need to heal eventually. I have medic up to stim C and first aid 3. But, it can be done without them, assuming you get fairly lucky. This amount of risk and a 4 minute fight at least is rewarded with about 4.1k xp and good loot usually.

Medic also reduces downtime for me. 2 heals later im back in the fight.

For reference, I am 3/4/4/3 in TKA, 3/0/4/0 in ranger, and 3/1/4/4 in medic I have 0 skill points left, and I am surrendering my medic slowly as I master TKA and Ranger. I will be sad to see it go, but i dont plan to do much soloing after I master TKA.

From where I stand, I am seeing balance, maybe not perfect. I would love it if I didnt need medic to lower downtime. The solution is making meditate increase life regen.

Yeah the KD nerf sucks, yes maybe it was too harsh. Was it fun to solo 5 red con creatures at once? Hell yeah! Will they change it completely back? No way. 43 HAM? It might as well have been free.

Depends on the Red's. Some red's are tougher than other reds.

Also the defense modifiers are not working atm.

I have +74 melee def and +66 ranged def

When fighting low level MOBs such as kreedles or evil hermits they still hit me 9/10 times.

Yes, I am a TKA Master and yes, I can solo some reds. The key being some.

I am not saying this to boast, but rather to answer what I think the first poster was asking. Can TKMs solo reds? The answer is yes. But it depends on the red.

Nym Patrol Elites con red to me as a TK Master (level 36 I think). They are non-aggro, so I can get the first hit in. I use a combination of dizzy and lunge to lower their position then begin using nonstyled hits (with vibroknucklers on). If they get back up, I either lunge again to lower position or use knockdown (without vibroknucklers). Using this tactic I can generally defeat any humanoid that has not damaged me too badly from a distance before combat starts. I am nearly a master doctor, so I can heal my Health/Action pools up as necessary in-combat.

Someone mentioned Mountain Squills (level 34). I most likely can solo them as well. The other day a novice pistoleer friend of mine and I got jumped by one. I tanked the Mountain Squill with a combination of Knockdown (no vibroknucklers) followed by unstyled hits (with vibroknucklers on). Granted, I did have the pistoleers help, but when the Mountain Squill died I had full Health/Action bars and 75% Mind bars. So I am sure I could have done it alone, although it would have taken time.

Fighting reds is about using your advantages. Against humanoids lunge + dizzy is devastating. Knockdown is STILL effective if you don't spam it and use it selectively without vibroknucklers equipped. Also, although I am nearly a Master Doctor, any TKA with Pharm 3 can get heavily experimented Stim C's from Doctors that will heal for 450-800 a pop. Enough to replenish a low HAM in one heal.

If I incap anymore, it is either because the monster hit me from range and hurt me before I could engage it, or because my Mind pool runs out due to hits to the head and self-heals.

Oh, and I am a Trandoshan. I wear no armor. According to Holo's post, a Nym Brawler (level 25 or so) should give us a 50/50 fight. Right now I have absolutely no fear fighting Nym Brawlers -- I have never lost to one.

I am not posting this to get us nerfed, merely to point out that the developers expectations for us are currently lower than our real abilities. I think TKAs need some major tweaks still, mostly in the damage absorbing/resisting area, but right now we are capable of soloing some reds.

Oh, and if you want to come watch. Log into Tarquinas and send me a tell

Killing Reds is easy. Just do what i did, drop TKA master and learn commando/pistoleer/carbiner.

Now, health shot 1-2 (2 health bleeds right there).

Action shot 2 (Action bleed)

Fire cone 1 (Fire DoT)

So...that's 4 bleed type's you can have on a target. Not much in the game you 'cant' kill with that. Keep running and healing yourself until they bleed/burn to death. Heh.

Two words:

Dizzy and humanoid.

Any NPC hit it with dizzy, hit it with lunge. I solo nyms on lok very efficitenly. Take the 16 k missions, avoid the agro, clear it if you need to. Walk up to it, dizzy, hit lunge twice, it fails ocne normally, sometimes twice, once its lunged watch it closely. If it gets up and starts hitting you, you gotta lunge it fast.

If it gets up and sorta stands there, it will fall over and you can go to town on it.

For practice attack the nyms in town, they dont fight back and the guards dont give xp but you learn the gist of it. If you really want proof i can provide screenshots but its really not that difficult to comprehend.

The hard ones give 4k xp, however if they style on you once can hit for 1.6k damage and they have medium armor.

Just try it out, start on Nym pirates then move onto guards etc.
