Thread: OK, i need all Vetran TKM's to read this
is it just me? or is everyone and their brother have some skill (preferably powerboost) from TKA? hell, last night i saw a Expert bounty hunter meditating. I've been a tkm for almost 3 months now and the numbers of TKA have sky-rocketed. Do you think SWG needs newer professions? or should powerboost be moved to master?
post your thoughts.......

SWG is a skill point based profession system so people can dabble to what they see fit. Oh sure im not the best fan of dabblers, but its way the system was created and we cant change it.
Although moving power boost to meditate 4 or master would make alot of sense to me

**edit** straight, im close to master actually now, im just lazy to update
I would love for powerboost to be a Master TK skill.
TKA - 2/2/4/3
I can care less when I see other professions going up the meditative line in TK to get powerboost...Maybe they give you that many skill points for a reason so you can make your character the way YOU want it...all it means to me is that they may live an extra minute or two longer....lets see..I'm a Master TK/Master Brawler/and almost master Rifleman..(holo profession) guess how many people I piss off when the see me coming to raid there city....and yes ive been tkm since the first week I started to play...im not a bandwagon jumper like most of these tka's ..... dont get mad at the profession get mad cause your lack of skills when using your character
i think pb should be moved to master med or just tkm
it makes sense, since that is one of the tkas most powerful abilities.
And if everybody from bh to tailors have pb, then it is too useful for where it is in the skill boxes and needs to be moved higher.
I understand that we get skill points to dabble but when everybody dabbles in the exact same line then it is obviously too powerful. In the end, i figure it will be either nerfed in the end if we don't ask the devs to move it
I'm a MCH considering dabbling in TKA for the PB skill. That alone probably makes me hated in this forum before I state anything, but I'll take my chances.
As I think most people know, the CH tree just underwent major changes. Why? Because the devs felt there were too many people dabbling in CH so they could pull out two creature pets. This isn't too different from the PB argument here. As one person stated already, if everybody is dabbling in the same thing then it probably needs to be changed.
In the CH dabbling case, there is published data to support the number of dabblers:
http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com/content.jsp?page=Character%20Metrics
Granted, this is old data but it clearly shows a lot of dabbling in CH when more people wield animals than pistols. There were certainly a lot of complaints that crowded city areas looked more like zoos than anything ever shown in a Star Wars movie as well.
All that being said, I don't understand the general assessment in many of the professions boards that if you aren't a master in a particular profession you are somehow less worthy of the skills that come with each box. The skill point systemseems to encourage dabbling, with the caveat that there should be incentive for people to dabble differently in most cases(Medic and /healdamage is probably an exception there). Finding a primary profession that you like and then balancing it with others is pretty core to the challenge/fun of this game, IMO.
Still, in the TKA case it could certainly be argued that PB should be moved to the 4th skill points to make it more challenging to dabblers like myself. Decreasing its effectiveness at the lower levels and/or raising it at the mater level also seems fair (this is similar to the CH skill tree reorg). The post about being buffed for over 2 hours by an entertainer/doctor is better than PB anyway raises a good point too and supports PB staying where it is. In my case, PBis more attractive than entertainer/doctor buffing because I tend to play solo and at weird hours where there aren't a lot of others around. That set of circumstances isn't true of everyone, though.
The trick for the devs is to put PB in a place that encourages some TKA dabbling, but not in such a way that EVERYONE dabbles in it.
That's my 2 cents, anyway.
pete, i can agree with that comment. finally a non-tka who is speaking with a legitimate solution.
i wonder if everyone knows you have to use timing with pb when starting attacks. does everyone realize it wears off after a few mins? we also have to meditate to use it...it doesn't bug me to take a minute before attacking something, but most people i group with (whenwith strangers) whine when i ask to hit the pb before the battle.
