Thread: Cob is worthless in large scale PvP…plz get it fixed.

First of all my PC is up to date and I Ping 60 all the time to the server.
The last 4 days I have been in large scale battles
and I dare The Dev and Mandkind00 to go to a large scale Battle and use Cob
And then come here and tell me that it is working fine.!!!
We melee already are having a hard time in pvp….
Standing still for 15 sec trying to get Cob to work , and nobody is hitting you
Is very frustrating.

Plz ….Re-think how Cob is working
Its really all we have going for us.

Maybe make it last 5 times longer……yes 5 times
I mean we have it running all the time anyway
And its not going to make us Uber
Range classes have plenty of ways to stop us..
Root/Snare/KD
Ohh and make Powerboost last longer also

The 7 level 82 pickets I tanked for 3 mins would disagree....

Iam not talking about PvE…we do fine in PvE because there is no Lag!!!
So it will fire almost every time you hit it

And the only reason that you can tank 7 level 82 pickets
Is because you have CoB running all the time….
Try large scale PvP and you will know what I am talking about..

True that. Unless you run away from the battle and find a lair or somthing to activate CoB with, your in the battle standing still just long enough to get rooted and layed out. Which I wouldnt have a problem with but our innate armor is as is and I havent seen any skill tapes that add to it, so CoB is our only choice for upping our main defense for a time.

I agree that the requirement to stand still for the CoB to work is stupid. As a melee we are constantly moving to catch up with players. Just with thwt in mind CoB would almost never be able to be achieved unless you tell the person to not hit you till it your CoB kicks in. LOL
Last night however I noticed that I was taking an extremely large amount of damage than normal. I'm a naked Pikeman with TKM and up until last night did fine with no problems from an equal level 80 creature. However last night this same creature incapped me2 times before he was dead. I used the same tactics as I always used when I was effective. I just found this extremely odd. I think some adjustments are needed to make melee the actual tanks they are supposed to be.

so if somebody hits you while you are standing still trying to get CoB started, it cancels it and you have to try again? haha, wow.
i am actually very happy with TKM (i am new to it) but any combat related move that gets cancelled if you get hit in combat, seems a bit funky. heh.
i don't think we should just be able to run around with the +800 defense at all times, so i think making some restriction (like the standing still thing) is ok, but the being hit thing on top of that seems like a bit much...

They need to make it so it applies when you move. That's really the only fix. I've had the damn thing fail -- and repeatedly fail -- when I am STANDING STILL because the server still thinks I am moving (this happens a lot... you'll notice things like "you can't do that while running" in other cases where you are standing still and it's the same deal). Until they can achieve ZERO latency between server and client (which they never will) COB needs to work while moving. PERIOD.

Chessack I totally agree … We have to be able to use CoB when running
Tonight was my 5 time in large battles..and I am getting more and more frustrated.
In those 5 battls I have seen 3 other Melee Players… 2 TKM/Sword and 1 TKM/Pikemand
All I have asked if I hade a macro to CoB because it kept failing for them
If we not all going to be BH/Rifle/Carb clones ..........Then they ned to fix CoB
Large battles on my server is 50% Jedi 50% Rifle Clones.

Its kinda moronic how they developed this. It is blatantly obvious there is no cross talk among the teams at SOE.
With less ppl on the servers (due to CU) the lag seems worse. Why?
Well, I guess the network bubbas decided to make things more stable and created lag.
However, the game developers decided to make some skills based on movement and time.
The two dont work together.
I can count the number of times I have to hit CoB or sniper or any thing that requires a certain stance/position or movement and it FAILS. Why, cause of LAGGGG!!!!

This is nothing new though.
Think about for instance Meditate... How many times over the months (years) have you been standing still for several seconds, tried to /medit, and had it say, "You can't do that while running." Sometimes it takes two or three attempts, while you are standing still all the while, to get it to stick.
Or how about putting down a harvester. "You can't do that while running." Again someitimes as many as two or three times in a row before it allows it. They even KNOW this is going to happen because their own help files tell you to "stand still for several seconds and try again."
OK this works for meditate and harvesters because these are non-combat situations. But... HELLO? In combat, 3-4 seconds of standing still may not be possible and even if possible may result in your death. Do you know how STUPID it is to have to stand there not doing anything to get COB to fire.
They really need to actually THINK about this stuff before they implement it.
