The developers' justification for heavy weapons doing such insane damage (5-15k) is...

Drum roll please...

..."they are all limited to 16 meters. So they are very powerful close range weapons."

Hmmm... possibly also because they require USES!?!? And in the beginning they're going to miss more than 50% of the time? (This is for the Super Heavy Weapons)

Gad... I'm getting sick of people yelling about Commando weapons.

Read... read some more... then read some more and you'll see the reasons for what they do. As Holo said, if Commando weapons rule PvP, they'll just make it harder to hit smaller targets, AKA Players.

I'm a commando as well, and until you've played it, I'd advise against calling the damage out of line.

Let's say I fire my flamethrower and hit for 5000 damage. I must now wait at least 10 seconds before doing anything. I can run, but that's all. So, that's 500 damage per second at close range.

As a TKA, I laugh at that damage. If I ever get in trouble while leveling my commando skills, I put my VKs on and do some real damage.

Yes they do have a big up front damage hit. But that is nothing to how much a tkm does up close in 10 seconds. I might be able to double that damage. The real good thing about comandos is there weapons can hit armor alot better. They are the ones I want at my side to take down an ATST. The have been way gimped for so long. I am very happy for them.

I am a TKA / Commando dabbler and my best on-line friend is a full time commando. Trust me, it isn't over done at all. It is a tremedous hit at first but to do those specials like flame single, you must wait for what seems like ETERNITY just to do another attack. I suggest that if you must fight a group in PvP and one is a commando, take him out first. He may get one good shot off, but that will probably be it. Don't forget that the FT is also extremely inaccurate compared to other weapons.

As long as they are fighting with me, i'm more than happy to let them take down the AT-ST... although, you gotta wonder what the point of a Imperial commando is? What are they supposed to take down?

/what if a commando switches weapons to say a pistol? can he then attack before that 10 seconds is up?

If not then i dont see how they would really be too overpowered except in a group.

no, regardless of the weapon - you always get the delay of the special move you used before.....

Mister_Heavy make a good point here:

This is absolutley true. Any TKM care to gues what kind of damage spammingUnarmed Hit3 does per second? I know my average UH3hit without knucklers is around 1200 or 1300as a Trando and I'm guessing I can get one off every 1.5 seconds... maybe faster.

I was grouped with my nephew who is about halfway through Commando and he misses more than he hits. Its outrageous. When fights got close he was swiching back to his launcher pistol because he has some pistoleer skills.

Leave the Commandos alone. It looks like SOE finaly got a class close to being where they should be. Now if they would just tweak the KD a little bit.......

As a trando TKA master, with decent VKs I can average 1700 DPS spamming UH3. As an alternative, I can spam Mind Hit and average 1000 DPS in mind damage. And I really never miss. It puts commando damage to shame.

You do need to get buffed to handle the HAM costs of spamming VK UH3s, but just find yourself a master doctor, and you'll be superman for 2.5 hours.

Tkas hit every second. Commandos firing a special from the flamethrower hit about every 15 seconds.

I think the main point is that if it's a one shot kill, who cares what the dps is?
